Welcome, welcome, welcome. Welcome back to another episode of. From my Perspective, I'm your boy, dion, coming back to you with these sports takes. You know I'm always with Q, how's it going? Q, man, what it do, what it is?
Speaker 2:You heard another bad show Boy, mr Pale. Hey, man, I came to college, you doing all right, yeah, happy New Year's to everyone.
Speaker 1:Happy New Year's to you, Q. I know you had a good New Year's. Had a pretty good New Year's as well. I ain't do nothing. I ain't do nothing either, but I'm 25, so it was a good New Year's. I ain't do nothing.
Speaker 2:I actually went down to my sister's for a minute. I was back home before 12. I got home about like 11.30, 11.40. Started drinking upstairs playing my son's game until about 3.34. That's all I did.
Speaker 1:I mean, I had a couple of wines, a couple of bottles of wines. I had a good time Ball drop, I went to sleep. You know, the usual, the usual.
Speaker 2:Yeah, nah. Yeah, it was good, I have to work next time. That's the part.
Speaker 1:That is the part. But we'll go ahead and get into college football playoffs. Second round has finally concluded. Before we get into it, obviously the tragedy that happened in New Orleans, from our perspective in Mixed Vibe Media Group as a whole gives our thoughts and prayers to the victims in that. Just a tragedy and the terror attack that I mean. That's what they're calling it. They're calling it a terror attack that happened in New Orleans on Bourbon Street that caused the Sugar Bowl to get pushed back to today, rightfully so. Good call by the FBI, the city as a whole and the Sugar Bowl committee to push back the right decision. But I wanted to give my thoughts and prayers from not just me, not just from you, but from the whole, from our perspective and Mixed Live Media Podcast group as a whole. So I just wanted to point that out before we get started.
Speaker 1:But second round was a little bit better than the first round. There was some blowouts. There was one big blowout. We'll get to in a second, but start out how they started out Penn State versus Boise State. Penn State. Basically they put eight in the box the whole game. Told Ashton Gentry, you get in your one and two and be happy with it. He broke out maybe like a couple 10, 12-yard runs. Had to break like five, six tackles just to get those runs, but pretty much they contained him. I think he got 30 carries for 100. We'll talk about some more history, but he came up about 23 yards short of Barry Sanders' single-season rushing record Pretty close. But now he's second all-time Great season for him. But Boise State's season has ended, as Penn State did beat Boise State 31-14. What was your reaction to that game on New Year's Eve?
Speaker 2:So we was watching it down. Like I said, I was down at my sister's, I was down there watching the game and everybody was going for Penn State in the house Because you know they seen they was like I like that James Franklin guy In my head.
Speaker 2:I understand why they liked him, but I was disappointed, actually, in my sister, because she knows football, she know you be losing them big games. She know I was a little disappointed in her, but she was rooting for him because he don't win them big games and she was like I want him to. You know, get the monkey out of his bag. I was like, come on, man, you know what he do, you know what that man do. Like you said they basically their Boise State's quarterback be like you gonna beat us. We know what he gonna do and we know what your offensive line can do in pass and run block. And they was good. They did pretty good in the pass block too. They was amazing. But they did good in the pass block too. But they left it up to the quarterback to say, hey, what you going to do?
Speaker 2:And the game that I had watched Boise State that was my question was what was the quarterback able to do? So now I wish I could remember the game. I wish I could remember the game. But it was fourth down and you knew that JT was on the sideline and it was the quarterback's play you was going to have to get the ball in the end zone through an interception. I ain't not the man, but I ain't think he had it. I didn't think he had it to win the playoffs. All my faith was in JT. That's where all my faith was, and I'm upset that he didn't get that rushing record. But I really wanted him to get that rushing record because I felt like he deserved it. Because he didn't get the hazmat Nope, and I still feel like he deserved the hazmat. So I wanted him to get that rushing record. In this game he fell a little bit short.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he did fall a little bit short. Very unfortunate, not very surprised, penn State won. I was rooting for Boise State because, again, I watch football and I was rooting for Ash and JT to do some big things, but they fell short. But next up, another team that fell short, this team. They should have won the game. Arizona State loses in double overtime to Texas, 39-31. Kim Scadaboo left it all out on the field. Literally he was vomiting on the field. I believe he. Let's see. Look at his stats Stat line Kim Scadaboo, he went. He had 30 attempts, 143 rushing yards, two touchdowns went one for one passing with a 42 yard pass for you know, don't leave that out another eight passes for 99, for 99 yards.
Speaker 1:The man left it all in the field and he had a two-point conversion he had that two-point so he literally left out. I feel like Arizona deserved it. Texas hit them hard. Those first two plays Well first quarter. They hit them hard.
Speaker 2:I was going to say them first two quarters. They hit them hard, yeah, hard on.
Speaker 1:Pretty much the whole middle of the game until about probably the last couple of Arizona dominate Well, I wouldn't say dominated, but they had control of it. They finally last couple of Arizona dominate well, I wouldn't say dominated, but they had control of it. They finally took the lead. They finally got it. I know a lot of those talk about those targeting calls. If I'm an Arizona State fan, that fourth and 13 and overtime you had the touchdown lead all you had to do. If you stop them, you win the game. You move on at fourth and 13 and you let him get behind you, you let Quinn youris score, throw that touchdown. I'm still thinking about it today and I'm not even an Arizona State fan. But if I was an Arizona State fan I'd be sick to my stomach. I mean the targeting calls, I don't. That seems like every big hit they want to make. A targeting hit is.
Speaker 2:But that was a targeting call though.
Speaker 1:It probably should have been targeting.
Speaker 2:But what they called now that was a targeting call. It was called Arizona State got robbed in that fourth quarter.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but to me you got to stop them on fourth and 13. There's no way you should let at least let them catch short and get it. Don't let them throw it over your top. That would hurt me, and I'm not even an Arizona fan.
Speaker 2:Golden went for seven, for 149 yards. Seven catches, 149 yards. The one person that you knew you shouldn't let get behind you is the one person that got behind you in that overtime. That's what it boiled down to. If you, the defensive coordinator, double him.
Speaker 1:Some. I mean that's it. And they brought pressure, but they didn't bring enough. They brought soft pressure Like, come on, if you don't bring pressure, bring the house. Don't bring no soft pressure.
Speaker 2:Don't Double him, Don't even take, Don't even In this situation for me normally I'm all about the blitz. I'm all about bringing the pressure.
Speaker 1:I would back down too. I would put a fence on that first down.
Speaker 2:You're going to say you got to make that quarterback uncomfortable, make him rush a little bit so he might make a bad decision. But in this situation again I said Golden was 7 for 149.
Speaker 1:Don't let that man get behind you.
Speaker 2:That's all I'm saying. Double, one in the front, one in the back. If somebody, if somebody else catches, I think the they tied in. Which is they they lead? Receiver On the year Yep, he only had one catch Up until like the fourth quarter.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he was, he was quiet.
Speaker 2:Let him be the one to beat you. Yep, not Golden. No, no, no, no, no, not Golden, no, no, no, no, no. Now, real quick, before we move on to the next game, I do want to ask you about Quinn Ewers real quick. They saying he got like six-figure offers to stay in college, to transfer to another school. All about people getting their money, but do you think he's worth six figures?
Speaker 1:No, no, he's an experienced quarterback who's talented. Obviously he's playing hard. He's experienced, talented. I don't think anybody in college really is worth six figures.
Speaker 2:I can't think of one quarterback over my lifespan of watching college. Six figures, I mean no, not six figures, was it six figures or seven figures? I keep saying six, six million, yeah, six million, my bad, thank you. It's not six figures, it's six million, thanks. You know what I mean. I keep saying six figures, it works because a lot of them is worth six figures.
Speaker 1:My bad, let me go right there. Yeah, I don't know if, as a college quarterback, that I would pay $6 million, because I mean, again, quarterback is a dependent position. I know quarterbacks get paid the most amount for a reason they're the most important, but again there are other pieces around it. They ain't doing nothing. You can pay that man $6 million, but what's the rest of the team look like you going to drop another $10 million for the rest of the roster. $10 million, $20 million for the rest of the roster. You got it because that's what you're going to have to do $6 million in college.
Speaker 2:I'm even thinking all-time quarterbacks, that I would watch college quarterbacks. I can't even think of maybe two that I would even give like three mil to, and they talking about six mil for him. I don't know. And those two is Vince Young, because I still think Vince Young was that dude in college and I also think Trevor Lawrence was that dude in college. But even then that Trevor Lawrence to me is kind of high. Yeah, it's kind of high. I don't even think I would doubt it.
Speaker 1:If you don't pay that much, it has to be someone super marketable too that you can get that money back, get your money back? I don't think, quinn. I think he was a little bit more marketable when he had the mullet. He cut the mullet, he cut the mullet off. I feel like the mullet was some money. He just cut the mullet off and then granted, he probably didn't want the mullet no more, it's outdated. But that was a time where you was known for the mullet.
Speaker 2:You was going to get some money just for the mullet. You ain't getting that now.
Speaker 1:So I don't know. I wouldn't pay $6 million for him, but I think his coming into this year. I thought he was QB1 for the NFL draft. I was obviously wrong and I'm not.
Speaker 1:He corrected that in my vision of QBs it's Shador and Cam. That's how I see it Shador and Cam, one and two. The rest of them fall in line. I mean, another quarterback I think I can see why Quinn wants to come back should come back to raise his QB stock. Another guy that should come back, especially after that sneak he just put up Jalen Monroe. I mean, I see you going to the NFL draft, but you probably should come back and raise that quarterback stock a little bit. I mean, you're probably going to fall into maybe a third or fourth round, but I feel like you should come back. Quinn would probably fall to the second.
Speaker 2:Here's my thing, though Jalen is going to be a third or fourth, even if he comes back and raises his top. Okay, quinn, I feel like he can actually raise his top. Yeah, jalen Monroe, we see where he is, we know where he is, quinn, yours. Like you said, it's potential for him to be a number one overall or a top 10 pick, the first quarterback taken. Let me say it like that it's potential for him to be the first quarterback taken. Jalen Monroe, he ain't. It's not going to be that. No offense to Brad. I want Brad to get his money, but I don't see. I don't going to be that. No offense to Burr, and I want Burr to get his money, but I don't see that for him. Nope. Now, I do understand the concept of going back to college, because you're still getting in, burr at college, but if you he's in the situation, if you're going to take your dream, take your dream and let's be real. What Alabama program is he going back to?
Speaker 1:Yeah, we don't know what they look like.
Speaker 2:They've been shaky and that's not Nick Saban's Alabama team Exactly, so I don't know With him. I can see it.
Speaker 1:So we'll see. But there's some tempering going on. We'll see what he does. Some people saying it might be a team in the Big 10 that wants him. Maybe he can make a trip right back to Ohio State.
Speaker 2:Yeah, ohio State or the Amazing Blue, they got they dude, didn't they? Yeah, they got they dude.
Speaker 1:They got they dude. He's not going to no non-championship contender. There's no way so he's got to a championship contender and honestly, if, as a little fan, obviously we got our dude, do we? We got Miller Moss. He got bitched. We got a dude that they think is our dude. Let's just put it that way we got a dude that they think is our dude. I'm going to have faith in him. He did his thing with Tyler Shuck. Jeff did.
Speaker 2:He did the same with Plummer, but at the same time most got bitched at USC.
Speaker 1:I'm just going to trust Jeff but, as I was saying, I would take Quinn if he wanted to come to Louisville. Obviously, we're probably not going to go after him, but I would want to just take Quinn and I think, honestly, the honest guy I don't know if Jeff knew there was a possibility that Quinn could come to the transfer portal, but I feel like Quinn, I feel like Jeff would or took him, and if Quinn is smart, I would come, because you see what he did with Tyler Shuck Jack as much as crap. We talked about him. He had his ups and downs when he was here. He's on a practice squad right now.
Speaker 1:He wasn't going to be on a practice squad before he came to Louisville and Tyler Shuck is 100% getting drafted. It'll probably be late because he's a little older, but he's 100% getting drafted.
Speaker 2:We'll talk about it this offseason. We'll talk about it.
Speaker 1:But next game. You know we kind of took up a little time because there wasn't much to talk about that. This next game, Ohio State put a belt to ass on Oregon. It was over 34-0 before you even blinked. I actually turned this game off. Surprisingly, they put it within 20. The score doesn't show how bad it was. I mean 41-21, it was 34-0 at half. It got ugly. Ohio State we talked about it last week. This is the best team money could buy, apparently Most talented team in college football, and they finally showed it. The last two games they looked unstoppable and they are now the betting favorite to win it all. We don't have to talk much about this game, but I am going to ask you Ohio State or the field?
Speaker 2:I'm going to go Ohio State. I'm probably going to go Ohio State, but here's my thing. I don't want to talk about Ohio State. I'm going to go Ohio State. I'm probably going to go Ohio State, but here's my thing. I don't want to talk about Ohio State. I'm going to talk about Oregon. How the hell you and I get it?
Speaker 2:The first game was in Virginia and they only won by one, but at the same time, on a neutral site, they smacked the out of y'all and they kept smacking the out of y'all over and over again. Yo, I blinked. Ohio State has scored three times what. I'm confused of what happened? Yeah, because you like with the Ohio no, I'm not going to say it With Boise State and Penn State. Okay, cool Penn, okay, cool. Penn state was like quarterback. You're gonna beat us. Arizona state, you see, okay, they didn't stop golden. They, arizona state, didn't stop golden. And even when texas was letting them come back in the game, I feel like they, they didn't put their foot on the pedal with Texas. They kind of play with their food a little bit. I don't understand what happened. The only thing I understand is I blinked in Ohio State.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean, I can tell you part of what happened. Jeremiah Smith a freshman, by the way, he's been compared to Julio Jones Seven receptions, 187 yards. Ooh.
Speaker 2:That explains it right there. Yeah, who was I listening to? They say he is for him to be a freshman. He already has the physical traits, not the catching and the running, but the physical. He's big and strong.
Speaker 1:He's like 6'3", 215, 220.
Speaker 2:So he's he's like Derrick Henry after playing with our receivers, he's been described as Julio Jones.
Speaker 1:That is not. No People don't just say you, julio Jones, because Julio Jones was a different breed of receiver. That's what they did. So yeah, ohio State is going to play Texas in the. It's the Cotton Bowl, so it's going to be basically a home game for Texas. Y'all going to turn that film on Y'all, going to see a team that looks unstoppable. Y'all going to turn that film on Y'all, going to see a team that looks unstoppable. Y'all better show up or y'all going to get put. It's going to be BTA for y'all as well, like it was for Tennessee and Oregon. So Texas, y'all been looking shaky, real shaky. Y'all got to show up. Ohio State going to embarrass y'all because they can do it. Just saying Texas, I'm sorry, I thought y'all was good, but Ohio State looks unstoppable.
Speaker 2:I'm glad that's the matchup, though I do like that matchup because it's two big brands.
Speaker 1:Yep, Again, we talked about it a little bit. Quinn Uris he went to Ohio State.
Speaker 2:That's his former team. It's a big matchup, coming with storylines Sugar Bowl.
Speaker 1:The Sugar Bowl. It was played today out. For obvious reasons we talked about earlier, Notre Dame beat Georgia. Georgia they had Gunnar Stockton in Carson Beck. He was out with an elbow injury. He wasn't going to play the whole playoffs, even if they made it to the championship game. But Notre Dame, the defense showed up. They didn't give up too much. It was a defensive battle. The only two touchdowns that Notre Dame scored was from a short field off, a turnover and a kick return coming out into the second half. So Georgia's defense showed up. They did their thing. They pretty much stifled Notre Dame. But those mistakes and that special teams touchdown cost them. At the end of the day, georgia is going home and Notre Dame is going to the next round.
Speaker 1:And before I let you go, I just want to point out if this was the four-team playoff era, notre Dame or Ohio State would not have been in it, it would have been Oregon. I mean, if they were going by the rankings, that was right it would have been Oregon, georgia, texas and Penn State. So 12-team playoffs giving these teams opportunity Didn't really give any Cinderella, it gave Cinderella's opportunity. No, cinderella's could make most of that opportunity this year, maybe another year, but still the big brands. I thought it was interesting that two teams that's in the front four right now wouldn't have to be the college football playoffs back in the 14th round.
Speaker 2:Let's call it space-based. I'm glad Notre Dame won and I normally don't really root for Notre Dame or Notre Dame I don't know how some people pronounce it differently but I mean they needed, I needed and I think the world needed a non-SEC or Big Ten school in this Final Four. And I know Notre Dame is the big brand it's a blue blood when it comes to college football. But you can have two or three SEC schools or two or three Big Ten schools. You need another school outside of it. I am glad that it was Notre Dame for this other reason. Notre Dame basically plays ACC schedule.
Speaker 1:They basically ACC. Yep, they are ACC.
Speaker 2:They play five ACC games every year. I know one of them is Stanford now, because Stanford joined the conference but still Notre Dame plays five ACC schools. That's a big part of you know what makes them them so in my eyes? Basically an independent-slash-ACC school made to the Final Four. So you can't tell me the ACC football ain't good.
Speaker 1:And I ain't going to lie, I've said it before even though we did loss when I was watching that game, when Louisville played, Louisville was the better team that day. Obviously, they didn't win the game. I felt like Louisville was the better team that day when we played Notre Dame. So it kind of hurts because I felt like Louisville could be in a position where we're in the college football playoffs. All I can do is hope for next season.
Speaker 2:You want to talk about Louisville right away.
Speaker 1:What's going on?
Speaker 2:And I normally I'm going to keep it real. I'm a black brother and I don't want to call for another black man to get fired. But Ron English, defensive coordinator at Louisville, either somebody need to recruit some players, because part of it is defensive players, but I think a lot of it is some of these schemes ain't scheming.
Speaker 1:I can see why people would want his job to be, you know, not for him. I think he did good at times. There were some times it was rough. It was Coming into the Sun Bowl. I'm like half these players who knows if they're going to be here next year? Half of them is just playing for the first time ever. Hell, we didn't have Ashton Gentry, we didn't have Quincy Riley, we didn't have a bunch of star players. The fact that they bowled up at the end gives me, gives it I'm okay with. I will be okay if he comes back next season. Really, who knows. That's Jeff Brown's decision, but I'll be okay with it. I can understand why people wouldn't want him to come back, but I'm just going to say A.
Speaker 2:I'm just going to list. I'm going to list some of these losses for you. Okay, cool. First loss was Notre Dame. Whose fault do you think that was?
Speaker 1:I think the offense made too many mistakes with the fumble from Tyler Shuck and I think somebody else fumbled that game.
Speaker 2:So one of them dropped a fourth down conversion.
Speaker 1:I think it was.
Speaker 2:Noah's third down.
Speaker 1:I'll say that was more on the offense than the defense and Louisville. We had a chance at the end to win that game Offensively. We didn't pull it out.
Speaker 2:Okay, cool, I blame personally for another name, even though you could blame the offense. I also blame Jeff Brown, because he did have that fourth down that was when he, when I say offense, it's Jeff Brown, okay, okay. That was when he, when I say offense, it's Jeff Brown. Okay, I'm just talking about the visual, like the players and stuff, okay, but yeah, no dang, I blame Jeff Brown. Smu, who would you blame?
Speaker 1:I blame the defense. Yeah, I have to blame the defense too. Okay, cool.
Speaker 2:Miami. Miami put up 52 points. I don't really think that's a conversation.
Speaker 1:It's not, but I mean Cam Ward was doing that to everybody.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:But we didn't talk about everybody.
Speaker 2:We talked about everybody.
Speaker 1:Going into that game I knew it was going to be a shootout and I've always felt that the defense just had to make one stop and or we just had to get the ball. We just had to be the last team with the ball in our hand. Technically you can say that we made a stop, but the refs took it away from us. But you can say defense.
Speaker 2:Next last loss, stanford. Whose fault is that?
Speaker 1:Oh, that cornerback's fault, yeah, that one cornerback's fault. Who caused that? So he's on the defense. So yeah, defense.
Speaker 2:The score of that was 35-38.
Speaker 1:We shouldn't have lost that and, worse, that game should have went to overtime.
Speaker 2:That I blame. Probably I blame that one on Jeff Brown too, because of the fact you traveling all the way to the west and you playing a team that you know you're better than You've got to have your team mentally prepared. But all I'm saying is, are those four losses, Two and a half of them you can point to the defense.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and that game with the Stanford game, it just felt like it was one of those games where the team felt like, oh, we're better than them and they thought they was going to walk in there and win the game.
Speaker 2:And that's your culture. But let's be real. Stanford also pulled up 38 points. Yeah that's a rough one. It's defense, yeah, but yeah my bad, I didn't even go up on the 10s.
Speaker 1:I know it's not even college football, but I just wanted to, since you brought it up.
Speaker 2:but go ahead, my bad, we go.
Speaker 1:But quick review of the semifinals and final four. We got Penn State versus Notre Dame and we got Ohio State versus Texas. Who you got on those two games next week? It'll be Thursday and Friday next week.
Speaker 2:Damn it's next week. Damn they gonna bet, because last time it was a little Okay. Thursday and Friday Damn Deion, you know we do pot on Thursday. We can't wait. I'm gonna go Ohio State and I'm going to go Ohio State and I'm going to go another day.
Speaker 1:It's Penn State Notre Dame on Thursday and it's Ohio State Texas on Friday.
Speaker 2:We couldn't wait to pick the Friday game the next week. Why are you pressing the brother?
Speaker 1:But yeah, and then January 20th is the national championship game. Yeah, I got Notre Dame and Ohio State, so it's going to be Notre Dame Ohio State championship game. That's how I see it. But Ohio State since we're talking about it, and since we're talking about Louisville a Louisville native, louisville-born guy and Ohio State alone, d'angelo Russell got traded Again. He's been traded a lot in his career, but he's going back to some familiar territory where he became an all-star. The Los Angeles Lakers agreed to trade D'Angelo Russell, maxwell Lewis and three second-round picks to the Brooklyn Knicks for Dorian Finley-Smith and Shaq Milton. When this thing came across your timeline last week, what was your reaction?
Speaker 2:I felt like, okay, I'm going to go through my rollercoaster real quick. First looking at it, I was like Damn, that's all the Nets could get for Dory Finley-Smith. I feel like he was at least worth the first round draft. Then I went to D-Lo like Damn, they just gave. D-lo away for the low Because I also feel like D-Lo's worked a little more and I went through well.
Speaker 1:D'Lo ain't really been playing good.
Speaker 2:He averaged 13 points this year. So maybe even I give a lot of. I give a lot of shit to D'Lo personally, but I don't, you know, I still think he's a good, he's a good scorer, but then you look at the numbers. D-lo's really not doing it this year, so his trade value is down. But then my next rollercoaster. I was like the next one to trade, but then the more I sit back and think about it, the Lakers got what they needed. They got a big wing who could shoot 30s and they kept that first round pick they didn't give up a bunch of second round picks.
Speaker 1:They gave up three second round picks. I don't know.
Speaker 2:They trade second round picks nowadays like they sell ways out. They don't really care about them. They don't, but they go back to Brooklyn. D-law might not even be there. D-law might go there and play a couple games and then he could get released. Now, with the eighth rule rules and stuff, it's only so many teams he can actually go to. But he could either finish the season out of Brooklyn being a scorer and reset his trade value, or reset his value because he's a free agent at the end of the year or he can play a couple games, get his value up and then get released and go to a contender. So, like a lot of people, one team I keep hearing about is the Orlando Magic, because they got the defense. They just need some scoring.
Speaker 2:D-lo going to give you the scoring he going to give you no defense now no, he going to give you none, not none, but he going to give you the scoring.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean, when I first came I was like, oh, that's kind of good. D-lo gets to go back to where he became an all-star. Maybe he can get his roots, Maybe him and what Cam Thomas could be a nice little one-two. Then I seen that he might be a buyout contender. I was like, damn, maybe. But I know I mean Dorian Finley-Smith, good player. Shaq Milton, a good shooter, defender. But I also seen down the timeline. It was people like you know they showing highlights of Dorian Finley-Smith and Shaq Milton and some people saying y'all know, danwell, they're not going to look that good in that Laker uniform. For some reason it's not even just a Laker thing. For some reason. When a good player gets paired next to LeBron, it's like on 2K, it's like they're injured and they get minus five today overall. That's probably what's going to happen with Shaq Milton and Smith. We'll see. But I mean the Lakers, they're not championship contenders. We both me and you both know that this is just the only thing that the Lakers know, that.
Speaker 1:The Lakers don't know that, me, you and pretty much everybody else, except for people in Laker Nation and LeBron stands, which still a lot of people know that. I don't know, we'll see how it works out. I don't even they know. I don't think it's going to move the needle. They're still not championship contenders in my eye, I think, okay, move the needle.
Speaker 2:No, no, no, no, I don't think it'll move the needle, but I do think it will improve them because, like I said, he plays defense and he shoots first the two things that they need the most.
Speaker 1:Mm-hmm, and we'll see. We'll see if they, we'll see if it actually. You know, like I said, it's true. Though, when these players get next to LeBron, they somehow forget how to play.
Speaker 2:Yeah, lebron does do that. Lebron does do that. He does do that to a lot of players. I guess you're right, because D-Lo will probably go from average 13 to go to average of 23. So, yeah, you're right, you're right, you're right.
Speaker 1:You're right when you're right Before we slide out of the NBA. That's not been a lot in the NBA. Christmas happened outside of Christmas. You want to talk about it? Get off your chest.
Speaker 2:Your Pacers beat the Celtics we did, but we also lost to the Celtics the game before that. So, yeah, this is a tease for next week. We're going to talk about the Minnesota Timberwolves and Indiana Panthers. Are they team? Are they conference final contenders, are they conference final teams or are they teams that actually just made it to the conference finals last year? So that's a tease for next week. We gonna talk about that.
Speaker 1:I guess, yeah, alright, before we slide to NFL're going to talk about that, I guess you are Alright. Before we slide to NFL talk, we got to talk about some WWE. We talk about WWE usually on the regular. Obviously we take breaks between POEs. But there's a big show coming up Monday. It's in the new what's it? Intuidome? Intuidome, where the Clippers play at. It's not big because it's just a big money. It's big because it's the first show Monday Night Raw on Netflix. It's no longer on the USA Network. It's been on the USA Network for as long as I can remember pretty much forever. From what I know, they probably had some times on some other networks Almost 30 years, pretty much 30 years on the USA Network. First time it's not going to be a USA Network and it's going to be on Netflix, a streaming service. You know, I want to point out Netflix. Obviously y'all had that blunder with the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight Christmas Day. That stuff was crystal clear. No buffering, for real. Y'all did y'all thing Christmas Day.
Speaker 2:Well, you know, beyonce was on and Mariah Carey, they had the queen of Christmas and the queen of queens. I mean, you know it was going to work.
Speaker 1:They wasn't going to mess that up. But we'll see how it works on Monday. First one I know you'll be watching. We're definitely going to give our reaction to how it works out, how it plays out. I know you'll be watching. We're definitely going to give our reaction to it, how it works out, how it plays out. But there's already some stuff, some old shows, some old material you can watch on Netflix right now. Your thoughts you know it's on Netflix. It means, like most things is on streaming services. We don't talk about AEW much, if at all, but AEW is on Max. We don't talk about AEW much, if at all, but AEW is on max. So I mean these streaming services, these WWE shows going to Netflix.
Speaker 2:First off, you said we don't talk about AEW much, or if?
Speaker 1:at all.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think this is the first time we said AEW on this damn podcast, and we've been doing it for over a year.
Speaker 1:I've said it when Chris was on, because I know Chris is a big AEW guy. Shout out to Chris Madden.
Speaker 2:Okay, so we just said it three times. Okay, I don't know, I ain't never said it, this is my first time. Oh, cool, how do I feel? I feel like I'm excited but also concerned, because this is an every week thing. I'm worried these first couple weeks might be a little shaky On Netflix's streaming side. I was on WWE's side of feeling like they got to deliver more edgier content because it's on Netflix. So I feel like we're going to get pushed some stuff that we're going to get to expecting and then it's going to fall off the cliff. But as far as, like you know, ass and more explicit, I don't want to say explicit, but as far as, like you know, ass and more explicit, I don't want to say explicit, but more edgier content. Let me say that Edgier content, I think you know we might get that at the beginning, but then it'll go away. As far as the actual matches, I just want to ask you because I think, do you have a feeling Solo's going to win?
Speaker 1:If he does, it's because the Rock shows up.
Speaker 2:Okay, because I have a feeling Solo's going to win. I think it's going to be because of interference. He's not beating Roman, just one-on-one. It's going to be interference involved. But how do we get there? Because I have a feeling Solo's going to win Because, again, I keep saying Solo got us to our winning, or is that John Cena loss? Keep looking further and further in the review that the only person I think remembers is me and you, and I think you only remember because I mentioned it all the time.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, yeah, honestly start to forget about it.
Speaker 2:Speaking of John Cena, he will be on the show, but you think he's going to be there, or are they going to build him an ankle? He just going to be on the show, or are they going to start his ankle?
Speaker 1:Is what his story was. They need to start his ankle man. We got a year. John Cena told them I got 2025. After 2025, I'm putting the jorts up in the rafters. So y'all got a year, so they need to go ahead and start that angle. I mean, that means obviously Solo Roman. I think I'm assuming the Rock is going to be there, and if the Rock is going to be there, he's probably going to cost Roman probably set up something for WrestleMania, the big match, cm Punk, seth Rollins I don't know which one is main eventing. I think they said CM Punk, seth Rollins is main eventing, but oops, you can never be sure when Roman's on the card, because when Roman's on the card he's usually the main event as I was saying, no offense to CM Punk and Seth Rollins, but if the Rock showing up and Roman Reigns is already in the match, that's the main event, even though I think, as far as story right now, seth Rollins and CM Punk might be better, because bloodlust has been drawn out.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's a little faded. Hopefully the Rock can come back and put some more life into it. I think he would. I think he will if he does come back. But as if he comes back. That's the only reason why that should. Main event If the Rock's showing up, go ahead and throw that on. The main event If he's not, seth CM Punk, go ahead and start us off hot in the Netflix area.
Speaker 2:We're almost there, I don't know.
Speaker 1:We'll see Again John Cena. He's going to be on the show. Hopefully he gets his angle started. Liv, she's going to against Rhea Ripley. You think they're going to hit that? I mean that story, speaking of the story that's been dead in the waters.
Speaker 2:I hope Liv gets to keep it and then Rhea goes to do something else.
Speaker 1:That's what I hope, but I feel like Rhea's going to win. Yeah, probably so. A championship's got to change hands?
Speaker 2:Yeah, probably so. A championship's got to change hands, so that would be the one. Because does Gunther even have a match?
Speaker 1:Oh shoot, I don't think so.
Speaker 2:I was just waiting. Whoa Gunther doesn't even have a match.
Speaker 1:I don't even know if he's feuding with anybody at the moment.
Speaker 2:Damn, that's crazy. Now Roman is, I mean, I know they do. This whole trade window is open, the transfer portal is open, but Solo and them is SmackDown.
Speaker 1:Solo SmackDown Roman SmackDown. Cody's going to be on the show. He's SmackDown If Cody's on the show. Smackdown, cody's going to be on the show. He's SmackDown. If Cody's on the show, I'm pretty sure Kevin Owens is going to be on the show. He's SmackDown.
Speaker 1:Okay, so we just making this a PLE. Okay, yeah, that's basically what they're making it a PLE. But also now, raw has been two hours for a little bit, raw is going back to three hours and SmackDown is going to be three hours. So we have six hours of WWE content on the main roster, with two for NXT. So that's a lot of hours. Y'all catch me when y'all catch me, I'll keep up with it. I don't know if I'm going to be there for all six of those hours do you watch NXT level up?
Speaker 2:no, I know you're the NXT guy.
Speaker 1:I like me some wrestling. Nxt level up is just for the young guys to get their reps. I like the stories a little bit more than wrestling. Personally, I want to see what's going on with the storylines. Level up is just hey, you need some reps. Go out there and see what you can do. I ain't worried about all that. I'm sorry. I know there's some young people out there and see what you can do. I ain't worried about all that. I'm sorry. I know there's some young people out there doing their thing. Y'all probably want the views. Y'all not getting it from me, sorry, alright.
Speaker 2:I had to ask you're the NXT guy yeah, so I'll be looking forward to it.
Speaker 1:I probably will be late watching it because I do have a dentist appointment around that time, so I'll come in late to it. I probably will be late watching it because I do have a dentist appointment around that time, so I'll come in late see what it looks like. I'll definitely catch it and I will probably maybe this weekend try to look at some of the content that Netflix has up, because they got some content up, so WWE Network is completely gone. It was still live in the overseas. I know Peacock is probably a little bit sweating in their boots a little bit, because they had WWE content and right now all they got is the PLEs. I imagine when their contract is up with WWE, nxt is going to have them PLEs, though.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:They better get y'all some good original content, because WWE they might be snatching that stuff from y'all. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that better get y'all some good original content, because WWE they might be snatching that stuff from y'all.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, Netflix coming for that. I don't know if they're going to get it because Peacock might come up with the bag but, Netflix is coming for that.
Speaker 1:They're definitely coming for it, so let's go ahead. You know we're usually in the show with some NFL stuff with the NFL pick-ems. Before we get to our NFL pick-ems there was some history that potentially could have been made. We talked about Ashton Jette he coming up short. Saquon Barkley Apparently he's not going to play at all. He's going to be finished with 2,005 rushing yards, the eighth man in NFL history to reach the 2,000 rushing yard mark, which is the milestone. When I was looking at the list I thought it was very interesting. Two of the guys in the 2,000 club played for the Tennessee Titans Chris and Derrick. Chris and Derrick Derrick with 2027 and Chris Johnson, who was actually literally one yard ahead of Saquon with 2006.
Speaker 1:But Saquon Barkley, he is shutting it down. He will not go for Eric Dickinson's 2105, which I'm sure Eric Dickinson is very, very happy. He has been very vocal about. He never wants that record being broken. I feel like one day it will be this year. It won't. We don't know when we'll get this close again, because it seems like maybe every so often we get close.
Speaker 1:But I know people are like oh, saquon Barkley would have had an extra game. I think it's good to point out, saquon Barkley has 30 less carries at this moment in time than Eric Dixon had when he reached 2105. So if he did go for it, I imagine he would have gotten in less carries. I just wanted to point that out. Yeah, I think he definitely would have got it in under 30. He would have got it in less than 30. He's 30 carries less. He would have got it in less than 30 carries. Yeah, but they're sitting there with Saquon Barkley. So Coach Q, saquon Barkley is your running back. He run that first half, literally 101 yards away, been averaging like 160 the past couple games. You're going to try to get it out there or are you going to sit him and try to get this Super Bowl?
Speaker 2:He's running that first half and we're going to look, you deserve it and I want to give you the opportunity to get it. So, for this first half, I'm going to start the offensive line, I'm going to start everybody. We going to go for this record in the first half Also because, sitting man, we're going to try to keep the boys fresh. But if you ain't got it by the end of the second quarter, and let's say you like five yards away, alright cool, I'm gonna let you get those five. But if you like 30 away, nah, bro, I'm gonna go ahead, let you down, nah, I'm gonna go ahead and let you sit this one out, but I do. I think this was more. I think this was a group decision, cause, you seen, I think this was a group decision Because you've seen that early in the year, the coach with Saquon, the coach that I thought was going to be far Saquon, I'll say that man.
Speaker 1:Sir Yanni, Nick Sir Yanni.
Speaker 2:Sir Yanni Saquon. I'll say that man, let's be real. But he came to him earlier like, hey, you ain't too far from the record, I want you to get the record.
Speaker 1:It was a career-high record. Yeah, it was career-high.
Speaker 2:What you want to do. Now you let the young boys in. So I feel like this was a. I feel like he gave him the same conversation. Hey, I really plan on. I want to sit at everybody, but if you want this record, we'll go out here and try to get this right. And Saquon probably was like nah man, we probably need to rest up.
Speaker 1:We got bigger goals. I disagree with that. Now, there was an interview yesterday or today Get Up showed it Pretty much Saquon Barkley talking about him sitting. He sounded disappointed that he wasn't going for it. Okay, he sounded disappointed. You know't going for it. Okay, he sounded disappointed. Maybe he just was disappointed Again. Coach Q, I agree with you 100%. I would have said I'm giving you a quarter and I'm going to see where you 100 yards.
Speaker 1:No, I'm going to see where you at at the end of the first quarter. Oh, I'm glad we saved you.
Speaker 2:Come on, dog no like it was.
Speaker 1:I'm going to see where you at at the end of the first quarter. If you're striking distance, we'll keep going. But you know, if I'm the Giants, boy you getting, I'm getting, I'm putting 13 in that box. You ain't getting it if I'm the Giants. But I'm just saying, I'm going to see what it looks like at the end of that first quarter. If you were striking this and if you was in like 30, 40 yards at the end of that first quarter, I'd just go ahead and get it. If you're like getting 10, 5 yards away at the end of the second quarter, hey, you got a series, let's get that thing.
Speaker 2:You ain't got a series. Hey cuz, you got a play, Figure it out.
Speaker 1:But let's say you're 101 yards and we know how the way Saquon Barkley he's not like a I mean Derrick Henry. He usually gets long runs, but usually it's not until like the fourth quarter when Derrick Henry that's when Derrick gets his long runs.
Speaker 2:Derrick wears you out because he's so physically opposing. As where, saquon, he got that?
Speaker 1:30 on his second run because you just left a sliver of the lane open. He'll get through that sliver and get that 30. So he could have got it. I would have liked to see him go for it. At least it would have been interesting to watch. I would have been watching it and I understand they want to see him go for it. At least it would have been interesting to watch, I would have been watching it. But I understand they want to win the Super Bowl. But you could have accomplished both.
Speaker 1:Scaring money don't make no money. Obviously, injuries can happen. Money don't make no money. And who knows? I can't imagine that. Saquon Barkley because I don't think running backs ain't going to do it twice. You're not going to do 2,000 rushing yards twice. If he does, that would be incredible. But that's so rare that a running back gets to 2,000 rushing yards two times in his NFL career. Eric Disson did it once. It was his second year. He didn't do it again. Derek Henry he did it once. His game cost a few times, but he hasn't done it again.
Speaker 2:He hasn't done it.
Speaker 1:He's a once-in-a-lifetime thing for a running back, so who knows if he'll ever get to again. But it'll probably be another guy. It'll probably be maybe a B John Robson or Jameer Gibbs or hell Cam Scadaboo or Ashton Gentry who's coming on next year.
Speaker 2:Real quick, though, before we. I do want to say this though we talked about him getting in the first half. He is playing the Giants. He probably was going to get in the first half, yeah, Like no, he's playing the Giants.
Speaker 1:John Taylor gave him that work, even though they lost.
Speaker 2:John Taylor gave the Giants that work last week, and I ain't saying it because it's his former team. I'm just saying it because look at the team that they put on the field.
Speaker 1:Sorry team. They probably not even trying to win. They probably going to let him get the record. Nah, I ain't going to lie. If I'm a DC on that team, I'm putting 13 in that box every play they used to play with him.
Speaker 2:yeah, the DC is like, hey, we gonna go for half the players is like you ain't getting a record on me the other half is 1-2-3 can't cool that's how I love over here, fam. I ain't even trying to hit you cause you gonna mess up. Look my plane already, my tickets already bought.
Speaker 1:I ain't got time to be in the surgery table. Come on, man, what?
Speaker 2:we talking about. I give you a little, oh damn, he got past me. That's all. I gave you a little. I gave you a little lean, oh damn, he got me.
Speaker 1:That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 2:That's what a lot of players going to be on DI dog. They got their trips already booked. Bags is packed Soon as they going to shower. Go to the crib, grab their stuff and be on the plane before the Vikings and Lions kick off.
Speaker 1:Only thing they got to do is figure out what shorty they taking with them. That's the only thing they worry about right now.
Speaker 2:They figuring that out right now. Which one acting up Don't be acting up the week before the season's over? Baby girl, especially on the losing team, baby girl, you didn't mess up.
Speaker 1:That trip to Cabo is booked.
Speaker 2:You was on your way to Spain Now you staying at home in pain. Let's hope for things. Now you, now you staying at home in pain. Now you see him on Instagram taking all these pictures. You know, somebody else will we cannot mess up.
Speaker 1:If you are a wife of a football player or a girlfriend of a football player, it's not the week to start acting up. If the gals are on a losing team, like you said, start acting up, because if the guys are on a losing team, like you said, start acting right, because that trip is booked. He's just trying to figure out who he's going to take with him.
Speaker 2:What you said.
Speaker 1:So, again, this is the last week of the NFL regular season. Like I said, a lot of these teams is 1-2-3. Cancun, some of these teams is getting ready to do their playoff push, and then we got the big one for Sunday night who's going to be the one seed or who's going to be the fifth seed? Let's go ahead and make these pickings.
Speaker 2:All right, first I try to pick games that have something on the line. Of course, it's only so many games with something on the line, cool. So Bengals versus Steelers. The Bengals have to win this game to even have the possibility of making the playoffs, even though Kansas City is the worst and they started as a versus.
Speaker 1:Everybody. I'm going with Steelers looking shaky. They've been shaky, they're going to make the playoffs and probably get put out first round. But I'm going Bengals by at least two touchdowns. Bengals got that one, so so they can make Sunday interesting. They got to win to make Sunday interesting.
Speaker 2:All right, cool. Also, it's 51-50. I'm still up that one.
Speaker 1:Okay, 51-50.
Speaker 2:Last one we'll see.
Speaker 1:We'll see what I can do. Okay, cool.
Speaker 2:Vikings versus Lions. Who you got, are you not?
Speaker 1:picking. You just going to pick Steelers, I'm just going to go ahead. Who you got, are you not picking? Pick Steelers or something, just go ahead.
Speaker 2:I'm going to decide it, because part of me was like damn, I didn't get this close. I actually kind of want I got one win, but part of me is like man, I ain't picking them kitty cats. Even though I have picked the kitty cats this year, I'm going to go with the Bengals. Now I'm actually trying to win at her. All right, Vikings versus Lions.
Speaker 1:I got the Lions.
Speaker 2:I'm actually going with the Lions too. My son has became a Lions fan. He was talking to me earlier about I'm going to move to where my team is in Detroit. So look bro, if I got to drive more than four hours, you ain't moving there. I don't care how grown, you think you are. You better pick somewhere else. Dog.
Speaker 1:Cincinnati, and Indianapolis is right there.
Speaker 2:Nashville. You can go to Columbus, ohio. You know what I'm saying, figure it out. Or you going to pay for me to move my dog? All right, tampa, what I'm saying, figure it out. Or you're going to pay for me to move. Am I wrong? All right, I'm going last. Buccaneers versus Saints I put Tampa Bay. Normally I put the mascots, but I put Tampa Bay. This day, buccaneers versus Saints.
Speaker 1:Boy, you know them, saints, speaking of teams. They got players, they got their stuff booked. The Saints got their stuff booked. Even the coaches got it booked, and Becker Mayfield is on the heater. Probably should have been all made the Pro Bowl, but he didn't. So I'm going with the Bucs.
Speaker 2:I am going with the Bucs as well. Other team in that division who has a chance is the Falcons.
Speaker 1:Falcons versus Panthers. Falcons will win, but they're not going to make it to the playoffs because the Bucs are going to win All right, I'm going to go Falcons, but I have a feeling this will be the game.
Speaker 2:This is going to be the game. Bryce Young's been looking decent. I was going to say this is going to be the game Bryce Young's going to go. I was going to say this is going to be the game where Bryce Young's going to go off. He's going to go from looking good and all right to they're like oh damn, that's why they drafted you number one. Overall, I feel like this is going to be the game, but I'm going to play it safe and I'm going to go with the Falcons. All right. Texans versus Titans All right.
Speaker 1:Texans versus Titans. The Texans they are in the same boat as the Steelers. To me they look real shaky. They're probably going to get put out in the first round. Man the Titans, titans they need a better draft pick. So I'm going Texans We'll be talking about who the Titans want to pick, probably next week or the week after We'll see Commanders versus Cowboys. We are 1-2-3 Cancun. I'm going with Commanders you can see it against Philadelphia. They're just not trying to get hurt.
Speaker 2:I'm going Commanders as well, so basically we picked all the same teams.
Speaker 1:All right, so let me go, except one. Who's that?
Speaker 2:one.
Speaker 1:Tennessee. I don't care about winning them bud, I'm still going to go with the Spartans. All right, so I guess the NFL pick-em is dependent on Tennessee and Texas. I was thinking about Tennessee, but I can't. I'm just that bad right now.
Speaker 2:So even if I get that one wrong, it's a tie, it's a tie. If I get that one wrong, it's a tie, it's a tie.
Speaker 1:Considering how much I won by last year, that's impressive.
Speaker 2:But you know what I don't like it? I'm going with the Panthers.
Speaker 1:Alright, he's switching it up.
Speaker 2:I don't want to go with that. I'm going to go with the Panthers. So either I can win, I can tie, or I can lose. I'm cool with it. I made it to the last round, I made it to the last week. I'm playing with house money at this point.
Speaker 1:I was on the heater last year and I'm not so much on the heater this year, considering my FanDuel account has been is a test that I'm not on a heater this year. It's not been a good year for me and my pickles, but just wanted to mention this Hall of Fame running back. Clarify Saquon remarks. Eric Jefferson said he would never hate on running backs but maintain he does not want his rushing record to be broken. I don't blame him.
Speaker 2:And I ain't mad at him.
Speaker 1:I wouldn't have won my record to be broken. I would expect it to be broken eventually. I just wouldn't want it to happen. So, but that'll do it for another episode of From Our Perspective. I'm glad you guys could join us again. Please like. Subscribe to the podcast Again. Like it, please like it. Also, we got other things going on in the Mixed Vibe Media. What else we got going on Q? Before I get out of here I'm looking at my phone and my bleacher report notifications. I'm going to read these off to you. Indiana won they made the Indiana Pacers win. Western Kentucky Hilltoppers they won. Shout out to Western Kentucky, murray State they won. Shout out to Western Kentucky, murray State day one. Shout out to Murray State. Eastern Kentucky day one. Shout out to Eastern Kentucky. Then UofL women beat Miami Hurricanes 74-56. Shout out to the UofL women because it's been a little rough this year. Yeah, been a little rough. And then you know, louisville got a five-stock of men. Yesterday, the men they got a five-stock of mid. Yesterday, the Mets they got a five-stock of mid. And they people call them the statement win versus North Carolina. But chill out, they got the same record as we do North Carolina?
Speaker 1:they been shaky this year. They ain't been that good, stop it.
Speaker 2:But yo man I love to go through Bleacher Report and see all my teams winning. Now, all I got to Always, always love you. It'll be a great week. Hey man, we'll catch y'all next time.
