welcome, welcome, welcome to another episode of. From our perspective, I'm your boy, dion, coming back to you. We're hitting you again with another nfl review and thoughts of the future. This time we're hitting the east the nfc and afc. But q how you doing, hey man, you know what it is.
Speaker 2:It's your point, mr bell, big q aka, not the little one. You know what I mean.
Speaker 1:What's going on, dion? Nothing much. We have a guest, one guy. He's taught me a lot. Just want to say something quick. One thing I learned from this man when I was interning with him. He told me always kiss, keep it simple, stupid. And that stuck with me. That's one of the few things that stuck with me from my internship. But how's it going Deuce.
Speaker 3:I'm doing well. Any opportunity to talk about the reigning Super Bowl champions, I'm willing to take it, and I'm glad that you remember that, because sometimes you just got to keep it simple and no need to overcomplicate it, and that can apply to many factors in life.
Speaker 1:So thank you again for joining us Deuce, I guess Always. Just want to let you know when you walk into our house, take your shoes off. Bathroom's down there to the left. When you go to the kitchen, just ask us before you drink anything. That's all we ask. That's all we ask. Let's go ahead and get right into it. First off, I just want to talk. We're going to talk about the NFC East because he wants to obviously talk about the defending Super Bowl champions. But before we get to the defending Super Bowl champions, we got to get to the direct competitions First. We're going to talk about who they faced in the NFC championship game.
Speaker 1:The Washington Commanders. They have Jayden Dange who came out on fire. They did only have one receiver to reach over 100 yards in the game, which was Scary Terry, but they had a pretty good season as well. One receiver to reach over 100 yards in the game, which was Scary Terry, but they had a pretty good season as a whole. This offseason they picked up Deebo Samuels. I'm not too high on Deebo Samuels. I think he's a good player. I don't think he's a receiver.
Speaker 1:But me personally, I think they're going to have to take a step back, like the Houston Texans did last year, because that's usually what happens Second-year quarterbacks they take a step back. The New York Giants probably the biggest question mark. They signed Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson after they had Daniel Jones, tommy DeVito and me a quarterback last season. Pretty much just a slew of nobodies. They have the third pick. I don't know what they do now. I thought they was going to draft a quarterback, but getting Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson kind of iffy. But the only bright spot is Malik Nabors, so give him that and my Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 1:Unfortunately we haven't done really nothing in offseason. We've signed Deontay Fowler Defense in. He's coming back. He was with the Commanders, now he's with us. Outside of that he's done nothing. I am upset at Jerry because there was word out there that Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb reached out to Cooper Cup. Hey, come play with us, did everything they needed to do when they brought it to Jerry and Cooper Cup told him his price. Apparently Jerry told CeeDee and Dak and Dak, hey, we got Cooper Cup at home. So they decided against it. But before we get into your eagles, what are your thoughts on the competition in the NFC East Deuce?
Speaker 3:well, I thought it was funny the the Cowboys did sign someone in free agency. They signed a long snapper. So you know, that's important. I mean, special teams is third facet of the game. Um, I mean to me I'm not not to sound like too cocky of a fan, but I'm not too worried as an eagles fan like there's not. So russell wilson, I mean, yes, that's a a solid signing for the giants. I mean if this was 10 years ago I'd be worried. But you, yes, that's a solid signing for the Giants. I mean if this was 10 years ago I'd be worried. But you know, he's a solid, he's okay. I mean he's better than what they have now.
Speaker 3:I think this is probably a weaker quarterback class and history is going to or you know, the future will show that this is kind of a weaker quarterback class anyway. So it will be interesting to see what they do there. The Commanders weaker quarterback class anyway, so it'll be interesting to see what they do there. The commanders made some moves. I mean they like to sign washed players anyway. I think maybe Debo could be productive, but I mean he's not the best receiver.
Speaker 3:As you said, you know they signed some pieces, the Cowboys, you know I don't know what they're doing. Trust me, that's why I want jerry jones to live to be 150 um and never give up brain of the, never give up this control over the cowboys. Um, everyone is just trying to compete with philly and try to um match philly, because it's going to be, but it's gonna be very difficult to do that and it's's going to be interesting to see how the Commanders do next year. The Commanders are the only team that really worry me as a fan, but at the same time I mean we could have swept them last year. The only reason why the Eagles didn't was because Jalen Hurts got hurt in the first quarter, so it was one drop away from winning that game, you know. So there's nothing that really worries me too much, but I'm definitely curious to see what the Eagles do with the Rave and the draft.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I have a third you pick up. I'll get to that in a second, but Q thoughts on the bottom of the NFC East. I'm just going to call the three teams the bottom, because we know who's head and shoulders right now.
Speaker 2:I think it's disrespectful to call the Commanders the bottom. I think you shouldn't lump them in with y'all, and of course the Giants I mean. But the Giants is the bottom of the NFL, so that's different, that's a whole different, that's a different case. The bottom, the question sort of if I'm breaking it down right the question with let's start with the Giants is I still think they take Shador. I think they have to take Shador because what's your future, russell or Jameis? No, you still take Shador.
Speaker 2:I think that's mandatory for the Giants is to take Shadour, dallas is I don't know, just not beat Dallas. I think that's the biggest offseason question for Dallas. Is not beat Dallas and pay Michael Parsons obviously Sooner rather than later. Don't wait until the end of the season. You know, try to get that done, you know tomorrow, but you know y'all won't because you have Dallas. That's what y'all do. Y'all are just mad. Y'all pay people at the last possible minute. Then y'all pay 10%, 15% more than y'all needed to. And then is it time to talk about the Eagles. We going to get into the Eagles? No, I didn't. Okay, good, good, because I guess. Oh, I ain't saying nothing about the commanders. I think the biggest question for the commanders is the defense.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Now you're going to be able to stop somebody and do everything in your power to prevent not being the Houston Texans like you said. Yeah, and the best way to do that is to solidify your defense, and I think Devo's better than you give him credit for. We'll get into that. We'll talk more about that.
Speaker 1:Let's go ahead and talk about the defending champions. They absolutely dominated Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs to win. Didn't have the blitz, not one time to get it. But the story of the Eagles season from my perspective was taken on Barkley. The Eagles looked god awful, not last season but the season before. They lost to Tampa Bay in the playoffs. But Saquon got there, changed the whole franchise around and they gave him a raise, rightfully so. Howie is actually doing it right. Other GMs look at Howie. He's doing it right out there. I'm just saying he's doing it right. He gave him a raise.
Speaker 1:The Eagles did lose some of those defenders that dominated in the Super Bowl, like Josh Sweat, and they let go of Darius Slay. The offense is still pretty much intact, especially they got Saquon, barkley, jalen Hurts, those two bad boys on the outside, smith and Brown, but Deuce. My question for you is there's been this historical streak in the NFCs that no one has. Last team they repeat was the Eagles. I believe it was 0-4-0-5. My perspective, this is the best chance a team has had to repeat in NFCs, do you?
Speaker 3:think the Eagles will repeat in NFCs If they can stay healthy. Yeah, because I'm not sure if I'm jumping the gun or not, but like the place the players have gone, I mean the biggest hit on defense probably is CJ Gardner Johnson. Like I sad to see him leave, but the pillars of the defense and what's probably what, how he's going to do the future of the defense. You know they're still there, with Quinnion Mitchell, cooper DeGene, both being rookies. Jalen Carter is going to be the highest paid defensive player, probably the highest paid quarterback ever, when it's time for him to resign. Jordan Davis is becoming a better run stopping defensive tackle. You know all these guys. Oh, nolan Smith is coming to his home as a pass rusher. All these guys are rookie contracts, so like there's a lot you can do there.
Speaker 3:The Eagles have 20 draft picks in the next two years. I think 11 are in the first three rounds or something like that, and the offense is staying intact. We're going to lose Mekhi Becton, but you know the offensive line coach Jeff Stotland is so great where it's really just a plug and play Like almost anyone can play offensive line for the Eagles and be a Pro Bowl caliber player, so I'm not too concerned about that. But you know, if Saquon can stay healthy, jalen stays healthy, obviously the receivers on the outside, and if everyone could just stay. But you know, if Saquon can stay healthy, jalen stays healthy, obviously the receivers on the outside and Lane, if everyone could just stay healthy, you know, play the overwhelming majority of the games, maybe miss a game here or there. I have no doubt in my mind that they could, that the Eagles could win the NFC Championship again.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I was a little bit surprised with my kind of back and leaving to go to the Chargers. But hey, every player dreams of getting the bag and the Chargers dropped that bag off and took it. So I'm not upset, but shout out to Makai Becton, a Louisville alum played for the University of Louisville. So I guess the biggest one is do you think you guys can repeat? From my perspective, like I said, I think y'all win the NFC East. I don't have y'all winning the Super Bowl again. I just think winning back-to-back Super Bowls is tough. And I got my eyes on another team named Baltimore and the Detroit Lions. I think those teams have been destined to go to the Super Bowl for the last couple years. I feel like it finally happens next year. Spoiler alert, my early Super Bowl prediction. But, deuce, how are you feeling about a Super Bowl repeat for your Philadelphia Eagles?
Speaker 3:I think repeating a Super Bowl is always challenging. I mean, there's a reason why it's only been done a handful of times. Obviously, you know, I'm still kind of riding the high of winning the Super Bowl, so I think it's possible. But I think the biggest factor for me is why it's possible. It's because of Jalen Hurts. He plays the best when it matters the most. You look at the NFC title game. You look at this past Super Bowl. You look at Super Bowl 57. You know when it matters the most, that's when he plays the best. So I think the big difference with you know other teams. You know, and don't get me wrong, I love Lamar Jackson. I think he's the second best quarterback in the NFL. However, until it's proven that he can win, you know, when it matters the most, we're still waiting on that.
Speaker 3:You know the Lions. You know I know they were super banged up last year and everything like that, but they, you know they had Jay Daniels drop 40 on them or 40-plus. I forgot how much. That was Jared Goff, he was healthy. He threw how many picks in that game. So yeah, so you know, I think, of all the teams in the NFL, especially the NFC, because Philly's the reigning champion, obviously, but Philly's returning so many key pieces and that if they could just stay healthy, I truly think the only reason why they won't be a legitimate contender is if they get hit with the injury bug really hard. However, I think if they're able to stay healthy you know, people weren't saying anything about the Eagles being a pot this past, the Eagles team being a super team, until after the Super Bowl and they realized oh wait, this team was stacked, this team played this well all season and now, after the season, then they finally got the credit they deserve. So hopefully maybe this coming into next season, they finally get that credit.
Speaker 1:Everybody. They can have the target on their backs right now. Q what you think Super Bowl champs you think they can repeat?
Speaker 2:The question for me is about not repeating. I feel like they can repeat as NFC East champions. I feel like they can repeat as NFC East champions. I feel like they can repeat as the NFC representative in the Super Bowl and I feel like they possibly could repeat the Super Bowl. I think the biggest repeat they need to worry about is the draft.
Speaker 2:Like he mentioned it, I feel he drafts how he drafts so well. Can he do that again with the losses of talent? Yes, the key pieces are there, the pieces you're going to build upon, but is he going to be able to backfill how? He has proof that he can do that? Will he do it again? Imagine he drafts a bunch of Georgia dudes. So I'm pretty sure he can figure out how to do this. You know what I'm saying. Go sure he can figure out how to do this. You know what I'm saying. Go to the SEC draft some guys. I think he's going to be okay. I think that's the biggest repeat question really honestly, going into the offseason is can you repeat on the draft? Can you repeat the hits, because he's been hitting? Yeah, out the park, out the park.
Speaker 1:Do you think the Eagles are or should draft with their 32 pick next month?
Speaker 3:I'm not really sure. Honestly, I haven't. Admittedly, I haven't really been following too close for the draft board After really 2021, the 2020 I should say the 2021 draft. I've just been trusting Howie, the 2020 draft. I think the good that came from that draft was getting Jalen Hurts and Annalise a decision. I was shocked jaylen hurts and that was a decision I was shocked about. I did. I thought that was just a dumb decision and drafting jaylen rager over justin jefferson?
Speaker 3:obviously that you know. But after but after the 2020 draft to 2021, 22, 23, 24 drafts. I mean, howie has just knocked it out of the park and I wanted Howie fired after he drafted Jalen Hurts in the second round, because it's one of those things where revisionist history will say, oh, that was such like a well, you know how could you possibly say that? Well, yeah, but at the time it didn't really make much sense, considering Carson Wentz had just come off a playoff run with no help. He just got paid. But, like you know, it worked out. It worked out.
Speaker 3:So I'm trusting I'm not really sure, but I I trust Howie to to do what he needs to do because, like you said, all you gotta do is just draft players from Georgia, and that's been working out pretty well. So, for us, so far, just drafting the sec. You said, all you got to do is just draft players from Georgia and that's been working out pretty well for us so far. Just draft from the SEC, you know, or just draft, you know, just don't overthink it. And you know, just draft the best players available.
Speaker 1:And maybe get some Oregon players. That was pretty good last season, except for that one game. But you know Deuce is an Oregon fan Q.
Speaker 2:I don't know, if you know, not in Oregon. Okay, that's okay, oregon fan.
Speaker 1:But we'll get you out of here, deuce. I know you are busy man. Hectic schedule. Is there anything you would like to plug before we let you go?
Speaker 3:No, I think you know it's great to see you know you're going out of your way and doing your own, paving your own way for um media, doing your own thing with sports media. So I was really proud to see you doing that. Performer intern to you know, someone doing doing his thing, um, so I'm really proud of you, really happy to see that you're doing that. I really do appreciate you reaching out to me and um, you know, just keep doing your thing.
Speaker 1:I appreciate that. Thank you so much, deuce, for coming on and sharing the little bit of time that you had. May ask you to come again when you may have a little bit more time to do more of a full episode. But again thank you so much. And again I cannot thank you much. So thank you enough for what you did for me in the internship. Even though it was only a couple months, I did learn a lot and, hey, I'm here doing things like you said.
Speaker 3:Oh yeah, and you were a great intern. You were very responsive and I didn't have to force you to do anything. You were, you know, you did your own thing.
Speaker 1:Thank you, Gator. Have a good day, Deuce.
Speaker 3:No problem.
Speaker 2:Thanks for having me.
Speaker 1:All right so let's go ahead and just finish polishing up the NFC East. I know Q. You said something very interesting. You said that you don't think I'm giving Debo Simmons enough credit. I just want to say I think he's a good player. I think he's more of an offensive weapon. Do I do think he's a receiver? He's going to be a good complement to Scary Terry, because it's going to be something similar to what they was doing over in San Francisco when they had Brandy Ayuk and then they had Deebo. I just don't think, especially with him being hurt, he's the game changer that he used to be a couple years ago. He could prove me wrong, but clearly you still believe in Mr Deebo.
Speaker 2:Yes, Okay, do we got more mouths on his legs than most wide receivers? Yeah, because they used him as an offensive winner. But I think he's going to fit in nicely in the role that they're going to have him in, because he's going to be able to play a little bit of receiver, a little bit of running back, and not overdo it. Okay, I think I also think I'm being into the mental right. See, I got rid of me for a fifth-round draft pick.
Speaker 3:That's how.
Speaker 2:I was worth. That's all I did for y'all and all I've done in this league. All y'all can give to me was a fifth-round draft pick. Y'all think I'm washed and he hurts everybody. You know, not just you. People saying he's washed, he's 31. And people saying he's washed, he's 31. People are saying he's washed. He's going to go out here to prove a point, I think. Am I saying he's on the uptick? No, is he on the decline? Yeah, but do I think he's still going to be solid? Rather than people think, yeah, I think he's way worth. He's worth way more than a fifth-round pick.
Speaker 1:What would you have given up for him?
Speaker 2:A third, a late third, especially one of them compensatory picks. Yeah, I hear y'all can have that.
Speaker 1:I hear y'all can have that them fifths, them fifths, after fifths, sixths and sevenths. You look at it like really, because you don't do sixths and sevenths players either end up on the practice card that they there for they in the NFL for like a year and a half and they gone.
Speaker 2:I put up numbers and that's what you see me as as a fifth-round draft pick. Okay, he's going to. I believe he's going to ball out this year Now the year after. I ain't making no promises. But, this coming year. I think he's going to. I think Deebo's going to ball out.
Speaker 1:So I'm assuming you do agree with me with the fact that you think the commanders could take a step back like they used to in Texas, because that's what I think is going to happen. I don't think they're going to get to the NFC Championship like they did last year.
Speaker 2:To me it depends on the defense. Honestly, that's what it depends on, because I don't, because I think Debo's going to be good and I think Scary Terry I think Scary Terry Terry better than what people give him credit for, but I think it's because he played in Washington. Nobody really pays attention. Like who really pays attention to the commanders? No, offense Commanders. Fans don't even pay attention. They're more worried about getting a new stadium than actually paying attention to the team that's in the stadium that they are playing in now. Just keep it real. So I think I don't know, maybe I'm tripping, maybe I got this wrong. Now you got me sitting here thinking like what if they do turn to Houston?
Speaker 1:I think it's going to be a step. Houston didn't take that big. They took a step back. It wasn't that big of a step back.
Speaker 2:Man people was predicting them to go to the conference championship game and they got smacked up early in the playoffs. What if I'm wrong?
Speaker 1:I mean, they did at least beat the Chargers.
Speaker 2:Because people JM Diggins is not going to surprise you.
Speaker 1:Nope, they ready. Got film on my whole. 17 games worth of film.
Speaker 2:Maybe I'm being too positive here. I'm flipping me and podcast like damn. Maybe I got this wrong because I'm trying to think. I don't know. I'm sticking with it. They're not going to take a step back. All right, all right.
Speaker 1:So let's talk to a team that they could not take a step back even if they wanted to, because that's how bad they was last season. They take a step back, they're falling off a cliff the New York Giants.
Speaker 2:I thought you were talking about the Cowboys. I was ready to be like dang bro they ain't as bad as the Giants. What are you talking about? The Giants?
Speaker 1:My bad, my fault, my bad, we're talking about the Giants Again, we talked about it a little bit with Deuce. They signed James Whitson, they signed Russell Wilson. I feel like you draft one of them. I mean you sign one of them and you get a quarterback. Shador would probably be that quarterback because it looks like Ken Ward will be that number one pick, but it's because that's three quarterbacks, obviously you maybe want Shador to sit for a little bit. I wouldn't mind him sitting behind Russell Wilson or James Not so much as James Winston, but definitely wouldn't mind him sitting behind Russell Wilson. James Winston we know he's such a boom and bust quarterback. He's great for the locker room.
Speaker 2:He's great for the locker room though.
Speaker 1:You're right, he's great for the locker room. He's great for the locker room. I did see somebody tweet when they signed Russell Wilson. They said that pregame prayer going to be generational.
Speaker 2:Man me. Well, hey, I'm going to join the prayer too. Let me be in that one, because that was going to be something different.
Speaker 1:Generational stuff for the Giants. But all they got is Malik Nabors. Pretty much. They got Lambeau in a project apartment right now. With Malik Nabors, a lot of people saying Brian Dabo, he's on the hot seat. With Malik Nabors, a lot of people are saying Brian Dayball he's on the hot seat and it's kind of the reason why he picked him.
Speaker 2:Hold on, because you got to admit a Lambo in the project. The thing is the Giants, the way that they ran, I think it's worse than the projects. I think it's a Lambo in the third world country. Dog, I'm just saying they ran for them. Forget like, don't get me wrong, the people around the talent on the team is not the best. I mean, they're all NFL players but let's be real, there's different levels of NFL players. But the way the organization they ran too, my dog, I think it's worse than the projects. I think they got that limbo in. I don't even know what country to call it.
Speaker 1:One in a. It's bad. It's bad. One thing I will say about the New York Giants I don't know. Y'all might need to check y'all mailbox. I forgot the owner's name. You might need to check your mailbox. Gm. You might need to check your mailbox. Gm. You might need to check your mailbox Because if I'm the Eagles, I'm going to go ahead and send you a ring too Appreciate you letting Saquon go, because that saved us and got us a win. They probably should get a ring from the Eagles, to be just. From my perspective, they definitely should, but I don't see them doing anything. Man, they're going to be bad. Their over-under win-loss is four and a half. I think they can hit that. It went from three and a half to four and a half when they signed Russell Woods. For some reason, russell Woods is worth a game, though.
Speaker 2:You'll be thinking these people's bad Like they both worth something. Russell's worth a game, do I think they're going to get four and a half? No, but I think they can get to the. They can get to the full. No, they can't. They might get to three, yeah they can get three.
Speaker 1:Yeah, they definitely get three, but they'll probably be picking high in the draft. It depends on if they get Shador or not, though.
Speaker 2:What if that's their play, though? What if Shador is not the choice? What if they draft, let's say, an offensive lineman, and they are attempting to be bad this year? Though what if Shador is not the choice? What if they draft, let's say, an offensive lineman, and they are attempting to be bad this year in the hopes of Manning? What if that's the play? Do you think they smart enough to do that?
Speaker 1:The GM and the owner may want to do that, but their head coach, like I said, Brian Dabo and their coaching staff, they trying to win. They got miles to feed.
Speaker 2:The GM's on the high seat too. So even though the GM can't not want to do that, True, true GM and the head coach.
Speaker 1:Hey, we got mouths to feed Head owner and he came out and said it we better start doing some winning or he going to clean Pretty much. He said he better start doing some winning or he's going to clean Pretty much. He said he better start doing some winning or he'll go clean house. So if I'm Brian Dayboy that's why they signed Russell Wilson I need to win some games. I don't know if Shador is going to be good enough to keep my job next season. I'm trying to win games. We'll see if it happens. I don't think they'll be good enough. I think they'll be the best player available, whether that's a dual card or Travis Hunter, and prepare for next season.
Speaker 2:I don't think Travis Hunter's going to be there. Third pick, so you think he's going to Cleveland. I think he's going to Cleveland. I know we ain't talking about them, I know we already talked about them, but I just want to, because I was talking to Hunter Hunter. Did the pod previously Live NFL draft recap last year. He makes so much sense in Cleveland, don't get me wrong. So does Carter, because if you put him on the same side both of them, him and Miles Garrett on each side you know you can't block him. You just can't. But Travis Hunter fills two holes where the Browns, like the Titans. We need as many holes filled as we can get. They got Malik Mavis, so do we really need to draft that high on a potential wide receiver? No, not really. They need Carter more than anything. That's why I think the Browns go. I think the Browns go trap-tunnel, because they need everything You're right, I understand.
Speaker 1:I understand it. Let's get to another team that also needs a little bit of everybody. My Dallas Cowboys we need a running back, a wide receiver too. A guard would be nice, another cornerback would be nice. We definitely could use some interior because they couldn't stop a nosebleed. We just need a little bit of everything. And all the Cowboys have done this offseason signed a long snapper Again. They signed Deontay Flower. That was cool. They did re-sign Mozzie Smith that was cool. We lost a slot cornerback in Jordan Lewis. We lost DeMarcus Ware, went by defense end, but Deontay Fowler should replace that somewhat. Production, because Ware was hurt Again. We ain't got no running back. We ain't got no wide receiver too.
Speaker 1:So right now, from our perspective, at that 12 pick, people are saying he's not going to be there. I hope he is, but to me it's Ashton Jenty or T Mac, ted Roe or Mac Millen, the receiver from Arizona. One of those two. That's all I ask Jerry. One of those two. One of those two, that's all I ask Jerry. One of those two, one of those two. That's all I ask. Outside of that, we'll figure it out in the later rounds. But that's what I got.
Speaker 1:Jerry, again, you had a chance to sign Cooper Cup. I'm still upset, you didn't? I mean there's not much I want. Then I was figuring hey, maybe they get Stephon Diggs. Maybe Trayvon convinced him to sign Stephon Diggs. He ain't going there, he is going to New England. My other option. He's still out there. I haven't seen that he's signed anywhere yet. He's got rapport with your quarterback. He just left Buffalo Signed him. Our group I know he's not the same exact guy when he left, but he's still a serviceable receiver. Again, he has rapport with Dak Pres receiver. Again, he has a rapport with Dak Prescott. Jerry, I know you was upset that he didn't get that jab, or I know you was upset and that's probably part of the reason why you traded him for a bag of chips to Cleveland. But go ahead, just bring them back. We need them. But I'm going to get off my soapbox about my Cowboys.
Speaker 2:What you got, man, I wasn't going to leave y'all Cowboys alone.
Speaker 2:We already touched on them. I ain't going to beat you up, no more, because you know I beat you up all year and all the time about Dallas. You know what I'm saying, so I ain't going to say too much. I do just have one question, all right, and you can answer this question truthfully. So you talked about who y'all should draft or who y'all should pick up in free agency. Does any of that really matter when y'all steal the Dallas Cowboys? I'm just asking.
Speaker 1:We gotta lace them up like everybody else. That's all.
Speaker 2:I can say I mean because y'all be having a talented team.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:My bad, I'm gonna stop. We can go to the AFC. My bad, I ain't gonna say nothing else. I'll wait to make sure.
Speaker 1:Yeah, sir, let's go ahead and slide to the AFC. Before we slide, I do want to give a shout-out to the MLB. It's opening day. One thing I want to say, though your marketing sucks. I know some people that didn't even know opening day was today.
Speaker 2:Bro, I didn't know and I be on ESPN, I be into the sports world. I had no ESPN, didn't even market it. That opening day was coming up.
Speaker 1:Nope, they didn't market it that much. I know, get Up. They talked about it today, that they had a game on today, but that's them promoting. Like y'all know, we got a game on, y'all better watch, but this is their last year on MLB's, last year on ESPN.
Speaker 2:We say that, but ESPN can't bank on the WNBA saving they some. The WNBA only plays 43, 44 games each per team. I think it's 43 or 44, one of them, cool, you can't bank on. You're not going to put them on every night. So what else you going to put on in the summer? Tennis, y'all only put tennis on doing the, doing, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, especially the Australian Open, the French Open, them things be on super early, so they not really covering you.
Speaker 2:Y'all don't do golf that often. So, espn, what are you planning for the summer if you don't want to do baseball? Now I know they countered. They opted out of the $500 million deal. They offered a new $200 million. Of course MLB's like no, we just had $500. Million. Of course MLB's like no, we just have 500. But y'all gonna have to meet somewhere in the middle.
Speaker 1:They probably gonna get it to like 3,500.
Speaker 2:That's what I was thinking. It's like 350. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It's like 350, somewhere in the middle, because ESPN, you can't. You, I'm gonna keep it real, but I like ESPN. But the point of the MLB going down, it's because ESPN don't care about it. Yeah, espn shows zero interest in MLB and they have the product. Then ESPN wonders why the popularity of baseball is going down it's because y'all don't care nothing about it.
Speaker 2:Y'all not showing no interest in it, y'all not promoting it. Get up, get up First. Take At least they're going to start talking about the same stuff. Football, football, lakers Same stuff. All of them talks about the same stuff. At some point somebody has to be different. That's why everybody loves Pat McAfee when he comes on, because he talks about different things. He touches on a lot of the same stuff, but he does it in a different way and he touches on different things and he's true to himself. Like nothing wrong. Like the people on Get Up, they have their own personalities, but it's just repetitive of the stuff that just came out of sports.
Speaker 1:It is weird. But yeah, we'll see what happens with the MLB, I think. From my perspective, I think the games are a little bit more exciting to watch. Since they implemented that pitch clock and told them you gotta get in that box on a certain time, it's been a little bit more exciting to watch. Games are a little bit less than three hours now. They just need to market it better. That's on Rob Manfred, I believe that's the commissioner. Market it better, man, market it better. And they hitting a crap ton of home runs. That's what you need to market out of home runs he's hitting.
Speaker 1:Just today I was watching a Yankees game. They hit two home runs in the first two innings, like oh, they trying to show out. But we'll talk a little bit more about baseball season as the season goes on. I don't know how much of the games we'll talk about, but we'll talk about some highlights and you know crazy things that happen. If somebody throws a perfect game on no hitter, we may mention it or two. But shout out to Cincinnati Reds, I plan on coming to see y'all at least one of your games. I might be there Saturday If them prices drop just a little bit. Just a little bit. Prices need to drop. Just a little bit for me.
Speaker 1:Remind me to take you to something post-pod. Let's go ahead and go to the AFC East. Obviously, if you don't know, it's the Buffalo Bills, the New England Patriots, the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins. Miami Dolphins hurt me last season. I expected it. I expected I had them winning, because I thought they was going to win. I thought Buffalo was going to take a step back, since they lost Island Weapons. I didn't realize Josh Allen was going to go nuclear and win the NFL MVP. From my perspective, don't think he should have, not because he wasn't good, but because Lamar Jackson was first team on pro and Josh Allen was second team the team All-Pro and not in Josh Allen's second team. Just that.
Speaker 2:The wide margin too, by the way. That just didn't make sense. Why is there a margin?
Speaker 1:He was a deserving player to win MVP but just off the All-Pro vote he shouldn't have won it from our perspective. The New York Jets they cleaned house, they told Aaron Rodgers to get gone. They got a new head coach. They signed Justin Fields and made Gary Wilson their star receiver. Very, very happy because obviously Justin Fields and Gary Wilson, they played together at Ohio State. The defense took crazy step backs the last two seasons, after being very good for a little bit before Aaron Rodgers showed up. Aaron Rodgers showed up and the defense forgot how to play. I guess We'll see if Sauce Gardner and the rest of that Jets defense can figure it out.
Speaker 1:And you got the New England Patriots who, it looks like they found their quarterback of the future with Drake May, not so happy with how they did the head coach, jerrod Mayo. You gave him one year. He had not a great year, but you wouldn't expect him to have a great year. And then I guess the owner I know that, robert Kraft. I guess he was like hey, my man is out there with no job, let me go ahead and hire my man, mike Varewell, great coach, you know him well. He is an excellent coach. Don't mind you hiring him. I hate that you only gave Gerard Mayer, one year after, the greatest head coach of all time by some people's perspective. Bill Pelichick hand-picked him. What's your thoughts on the NFC East? I'm the AFC East man.
Speaker 2:So let me touch on the Patriots situation first. Once Mike Rabel was available, they only did. They only gave Jerron May the job so they could be like yeah, Bill, we did it. Yeah, Once that was done, once Raybould was out there, that's going to be our guy. He's going to be the new at some point. He's going to be the new England Patriots head coach At some point. Everybody, you can see it, that's their guy. He's one of them, Even though Jerome Mayo is one of them too, but he's different. So the Patriots they signed Stephon Diggs. It's all about Drake May. Drake May got to take the next step Because I think New England Patriots, they always have a good defense Even when you don't think they got a good defense they don't have a good defense.
Speaker 2:So most teams. You got to question the defense, like I talked about with the commanders earlier. What's the defense going to do? I personally believe what's? I end up being wrong. The New England Patriots is going to have a top 10 defense. I'm calling that net Between what they already had in Mike Virgil, adding on Mike Virgil. They're going to be a top 10 defense going into next year. It's all about Drake May. Is Drake May going to get the ball to Diggs and the other weapons that you know they ain't the greatest weapons, but he's going to get them the ball in offensive line. That's the Patriots, the Jets. And why is I feel bad for New York? Because both. That's the Patriots, the Jets. I feel bad for New York because both teams are so bad. How do you have two teams and they both be laughing stocks?
Speaker 1:You look at the West Coast, they got two teams that are good.
Speaker 2:That don't make sense to me how both teams are this bad.
Speaker 1:They bottom barrel I don't know if the Jets you think is the Jets that third world country like the Giants?
Speaker 2:No, no, no, they not that bad, they bad. They like laughable. Bad as a word of Giants. You just feel bad for them, yeah understandable.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean I definitely feel bad for the Giants a little bit. I just want that easy win as a Cowboys fan.
Speaker 2:I think the Jets trip over wins here and there and Aaron Rodgers was better late in the year, but it's just the fields. What is just the fields going to be? That's the thing with the Jets. They actually have talent. On both sides of the ball they have talent.
Speaker 1:Brees Hall, Gary Wilson, Sauce Gardner, yeah.
Speaker 2:They. I don't. Let me ask you do you have faith in Justin Fields to make them a 500 team? Not even playoffs. I'm not even talking playoffs, I'm talking about well, of course you can't be 500 because you know I'm saying no, I think talking about.
Speaker 1:Well, of course you can't beat 500, because you know what I'm saying. No, I think he's capable. I mean with his running ability obviously. He just has to develop that arm a little bit better. Man, they have Aaron Glenn as the head coach, obviously the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, so that defense should be very good next season. That's what I'm. You said the Patriots are going to have a top 10 defense. I think the Jets have a top 10 defense this year. He made something out of nothing with the Detroit Lions last season. He had me out there at quarterback because a lot of people was out there hurt. He made something out of nothing with the Lions. It's on the offense, can I?
Speaker 2:ask you something. What's up? I hate to go down this path. Sometimes I try not to be that dude, but I'm going to keep it real. Do you think Glenn gets more than one year? He better.
Speaker 1:Okay, I'll just ask you he better With the track record of the NFL. They did it to two people last season Antonio Pierce for the Raiders, and we'll talk about that next week. I hate it. I love Pete, but I hate it that hard. But we'll talk about more of that next week. Aaron Glenn it was a great coach.
Speaker 2:His ass can be out. You know the record when it comes to African-American men and head coaches. Like you said, it just happened twice last year. I don't think it would happen, but I also didn't think Antonio Pierce was going to get fired.
Speaker 2:Now Jerry Mayo I knew no offense Like I. You know, I knew no offense. You know, I knew. First I didn't think it was going to happen. I didn't think he was going to be down there for five years neither, but I didn't think he was just going to be worn. So with Glenn, I mean, I mean I mean you know it's right there.
Speaker 1:It could happen. It could happen. Yeah, dang it, I don't know All the Bills.
Speaker 2:I'm sorry, I forgot all about the Bills in Miami.
Speaker 1:We'll get to the Bills last, but let's go Miami. The issue is with that quarterback. It's not that he's bad, he's not able to stay healthy. Tyreek Hill, he wasn't healthy last season. I had so much faith in him last season. I don't got as much faith in them as I did last season. I think they'll finish second. I think they'll finish above the Patriots and the Jets. I think they'll finish second. It's just dependent on Tua. But my question is you're the GM for the Miami Dolphins or the owner for the Miami Dolphins. Are you sticking with Tua or do you want to get another quarterback in there? Two, or do you want to get another quarterback in there Because that window is tight, this current window with Tyreek, Jalen Waddle and the team that got in there, it's tight. How are you feeling?
Speaker 2:Seriously, there's no other quarterback option out there. And if Shador drops that far, then yeah, I would take Shador. If he drops that far, then yeah, I would take Shadur. If he drops that far, Because to me Shadur is. Is he ever going to be on the level of your top tier quarterbacks, Like your one through eights? Is he ever going to be that? No, I do not think Shadur is.
Speaker 2:But is Shadur a 10 through 20 quarterback? Yes, and what I mean when I say that is he can beat Alex Smith. He could get you in the playoffs. He's good enough to get you in the playoffs. He's good enough to get you to the Super Bowl. Is he good enough? Is he going to be the one to carry you to the Super Bowl? No, I don't think Shadur is that good, I just don't. But do I think he's good enough? Do I think he's got the talent to carry, to help teams, to improve teams? If the team got weapons around him, like a Jalen Hurts Like you said earlier, Jalen Hurts when he was coming out, nobody looked at him like that. But if you look at the Eagles team as a whole, he fits. Can Shadur do that? I think he could. They have that in man. So if he follows that far, I don't think he's going to follow that far. But if he follows that far, sure it's like Shadur. But other than Shadur, there's really no other quarterback options out there.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean there was talks out there. Obviously we know him well. I've been hearing a lot of smoke with Tyler Shuck coming in as a late first rounder. A lot of people feel like he's a plug-and-play guy. If you got the weapons around him he can do some damage. So I've been hearing a lot of smoke about Jason Dart Not too high on Jason Dart. Not hearing as much smoke about Jalen Monroe now after he ran that crazy 40. I don't think he's that good. Anyways. And Quinn Urias, that's another quarterback I've been hearing he's like a fifth-round quarterback and I don't see that Coming into this season. He was my QB1. Honestly, that's before Ken Ward, nuclear and Shador really proved that he was really a consistent quarterback. I thought Quinn Urias would be QB1 in this draft. You said shook.
Speaker 2:I don't know if I would go late first round, but I guess they draft late first round. But if he's like a, if you can get an early second round draft pick and he's there, yeah I could see it, Especially, like you said, it may be because he's a plug in play type dude. So yeah, I could see that. And you know Tua Tua has an injury history, Well. And you know Tua Tua has an injury history. Well, he has a concussion history.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he probably got one more good one. They might got to go ahead and pack it up. They might have to pack it up for him. Yeah.
Speaker 2:I don't think he's going to want to pack it up himself, yeah.
Speaker 1:But you know the Dolphins got the 13 pick. They're right behind the Dallas Cowboys. I don't know who they get. I mean they could go a lot of different directions. I mean they have a good running back. Obviously they got Tyreek Jalen Waddle. They probably just need to go off of some line. They need to protect Tua as much as possible.
Speaker 2:Or like I always say you know, defense don't hurt yeah. In this league, everybody trying to put up 40 points.
Speaker 1:Okay, so let's talk about the Buffalo Bills. I'm assuming you and I both have them winning this year's. Yeah, it's their division. They're basically running it like the Patriots did all those years. We both agree with the whole Josh Allen. He had deserving stats. He was a deserving player to win MVP, but just solely off of what happened with the all-pro vote, he shouldn't have won it. What you got for the Buffalo Bills?
Speaker 2:Draft the wide receiver, so Jared Allen don't have to do what he did last year to get y'all to where y'all was at. And the same draft the wide receiver, right. But it's kind of the same thing with Baltimore and with Detroit. It's not about the talent that's on the team, even though Buffalo has questions of talent more than the other two. But okay, what are you going to do to get over the hump, josh Allen? Can you?
Speaker 2:It's not fair for Josh Allen to refer him to can you beat Patrick Mahomes? But can you beat the Chiefs defense? Can you beat the aura that's around that team? I think that's the biggest, that's the biggest outseason question for Buffalo what you gonna do to prepare yourself because you gonna make the playoffs. Look at the rest of your division. Your only competition is Miami and Miami will be up and down. So what are you gonna do once you get into the playoffs to escape the being behind the Chiefs shadow, being in the Chiefs shadow? Honestly, the simplest question. That's the only question that evolves the Buffalo Bills, like I said, yes, they do need to give Josh Allen some weapons, because he shouldn't have. He carried that team to where it was, but he carried offensively. He carried that team to where it was, but he carried offensively. He carried that team to where it was.
Speaker 1:He definitely did. Like you said, I feel like the only team that is not scared of the Kansas City Chiefs is the Philadelphia Eagles, because they made that man mortal. Now I'm sure Patrick Mahomes will see the Eagles. He's going to give them hell because he probably when he goes to sleep at night still sees Josh Swett, jordan Davis, nolan Smith and Jalen Carter in his nightmares that whole defensive front. So I expect Patrick Mahomes to come nuclear next time he sees Philly, but outside of Philly. The Chiefs got Baltimore's number, they got the Bills' number and for some extent they got Baltimore's number. They got the Bills' number and for some extent they got Cincinnati's number. Cincinnati got them once but they still got their number. But specifically the Bills, josh. I know Josh, he probably anybody with a name he probably don't like Patrick, paul, peter. Anybody with the first name P he probably don't like, because I bet he sleeps at night and sees Patrick Mahomes. He sleeps at night and dreams about that. What the Chiefs went 60 yards in 13 seconds, yeah.
Speaker 2:I think that's what he sleeps at night. I don't think he looks at Patrick Mahomes as the boogeyman Like I don't think he's looking at Patrick Mahomes as the boogeyman. I think he looks at that team as the. I think he looks at that team as okay, what do we got to do to get third? Why can't we get third? I think that's what keeps him up at night. Is what is going on around me that we can't get third?
Speaker 1:Yeah, because he's had Patrick beat man 13 seconds. He left the field with 13 seconds left, with a lead.
Speaker 2:I think Lamar looks more as Patrick, as the boogeyman, like man. He put up all the points out of the damn time. I think he looks Patrick more as the boogeyman, I don't know. I think Josh looks at it like, alright, what else, what else we, what else, what else we have to?
Speaker 1:do yeah because he'd be going. He'd be putting up his best performances against that team. Yeah, he falls out. It's seemingly never. It's seemingly never enough. Never enough for some reason. But obviously we think the are going to go ahead and win the AFC East because who they got.
Speaker 1:The Miami Dolphins. We'll see if Tua stays healthy. I guess that'll do it for another episode of From my Perspective. Thank you again for listening. Please like, please subscribe. I want to give another big thank you to Deuce Woodson for coming on to talk about the Super Bowl defending champions. Here's Philadelphia Eagles Next up. We got the AFC West. We will see what we can do about a guest for the AFC West. We in the East Coast it's tough finding an AFC West fan man.
Speaker 2:I honestly can't think of one. I can't think of one. I do know some Rams fans. I do?
Speaker 1:We'll figure it out. We'll figure it out. Just know we'll figure something out. We'll try to get you guys a guess to talk about a team in the AFC West One more time. Please like, please subscribe, leave a comment. We still got merch. We still got merch. And don't forget, guys, we didn't talk about it, but that bracket challenge is still going on. We already know First place gets a shirt, second place gets a tumbler, third place gets a calendar. Again, thank you guys for that turnout. It was amazing. We're down to Sweet 16 in the league day games today, tomorrow and Saturday and Sunday. Then we got the Final Four. Unfortunately, our team's not in it Tennessee Volunteers, looking right at you guys. Do us a favor, please, and thank you. I don't ask for much, but, volunteers, I just want y'all to do one thing for me, and y'all know what it is Go out there and handle business.
Speaker 2:Captain Hader, you got anything to say to them before we get out of here? Just real quick. There was some comments. I'm not going say no. No, there was some comments made about the indiana fever being nationally televised. 41 games and no offense. There's a lot of good teams, do I think the liberty should have been on tv? Should the liberty be on tv a lot as well? Yes, but are we trying to grow this game or what are we doing? Kaitlyn Clark puts ads on the TV. She put butts in seats, all these WNBA teams. When the Indiana people come, they move to the NBA arenas, they move to the big arenas. There's a reason why Kaitlyn Clark does numbers. At some point we got to quit. We got to quit trying to push the narrative as if, like people's not looking at, they're not recognizing the other great women and give Kaitlyn Clark her credit. Two things could be true at once. We can give these other great female basketball players their credit as well as give Kaitlyn Clark her credit.
Speaker 1:Hey, calling it like it is Captain Hater himself. One more time please like, please subscribe, please leave a comment and please buy some merch, because we got a lot of it and you'll look good in a From Our Perspective shirt. That's just from my perspective. I think you'll look good, but take us home Q. Hey, you already know the best.
Speaker 2:It's your boy, mr Bill.
