Welcome, welcome, welcome back to another episode of. From my Perspective, I'm your boy, Dion, coming back to you with these perspectives. You know I'm joined with the man, the myth, the legend. I hate himself. Q how you doing.
Speaker 2:Hey, what do with it is? You already know the best. It's your boy, mr Bill, I can't say your name on the spot. It might not put you to mind what's going on.
Speaker 1:Dion man Not much you know Been living my life. The draft was last week and I'm not disappointed how the Cowboys drafted. They just didn't get what I wanted them to get, but they didn't draft well how you feel about your Titans.
Speaker 2:I feel like we did okay. I feel like we did good, as feel like we did good. As you know, josh, friend of the pod, he loved the draft, but he's one of those type of fans Like he's going to be positive, he's going to ride with the team and I respect it. I feel like we did good. He feels like we did great. So time will tell.
Speaker 1:Yeah, my cowboys, they need to go back to that free agent marketing. See who's out there. There's a certain guy that I want by the name of Amari Cooper. They need to go ahead. They need to pick up that phone. When Amari answers, jerry, he's hitting with the hey big head. It works for me. Hit him with the hey big head and you're sorry, it'd be working for me. That's all I gotta say.
Speaker 1:But the big story of the draft wasn't obviously your Titans, wasn't my Cowboys, it was the quarterback of the formerly Colorado Buffalo, shador Sanders. As he was pretty much top three or four some people say the number two, number two, three he was either second, third or fourth best quarterback in most people's eyes. But he fell all the way to the fifth round at pick 144. And Ken Ward, as expected, went before him. Jackson Dart, I don't really get that. Hey, it is what it is. Tyler Shuck I'm a Louisville fan. I like Tyler Shuck a lot. I probably would have took Shador before him, but I can understand it a little bit. But I probably would have took Tyler Shuck. Dylan Gabriel, which made no sense, don't understand that pick at all. And Jalen Milrow went before Shador Sanders as he went to the Cleveland Browns. So, before we get to the Cleveland Browns aspect, what are your thoughts of him falling all the way to the fifth round when he was considered the second, third or fourth quarterback by most standards?
Speaker 2:Alright. So him falling to the fifth round, it was surprising. Him falling out of the first round wasn't surprising because I didn't think I don't think Shadul was either the second or third best quarterback, but I also didn't think that he was good enough to warrant a first round draft.
Speaker 1:Maybe somebody straight in late, but I didn't think I thought somebody was going to get him late because it was a quarterback text with these people. I thought Tyler Sheldon was a third-rounder. He was going to get picked up in the second. Shadon should have been probably a second-rounder, but quarterback text get him in the first.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but like you said, he really was a second-round pick. Him falling to the fifth round is, I feel, like it's disrespectful. Everybody's saying all right. So everybody's saying that it was a ploy to humble him. It was all the other teams was in cahoots. I don't know if all the teams was in cahoots but I do know I'm pretty sure all the other teams talked. You said one or two interviews, word passes on. I believe that's what's happening.
Speaker 2:And also believing, if you didn't see him as your starting quarterback day one and he was going to come in and be your backup, you don't want your backup making more noise than your starting quarterback. That T-ball effect they call it. It's too big of a situation to handle. And then add on who his father is. Yeah, add on who his father is. We know who his father is. Some coaches might have felt threatened by the fact that if I bring him in and we sit him second, then Deion might come take my job Down the line. You never know. From that perspective, I understand why he failed, maybe even after the down the line. You never know. So from that perspective, I understand why he failed, maybe even after the second round. But falling to the fifth round. I can't, I don't understand it. I need somebody to explain it to me. And then, well, you said we talked about Cleveland a minute, so I'll wait on the Cleveland part.
Speaker 1:It didn't make sense. I mean, that was word going, that was a bunch of different reasonings, people saying word going around, that he was sitting back in some of these interviews with teams he really didn't want to. And I just want to say Shador may not have been the person to do it, but if you're a top-tier prospect, top-five pick, I think more players should start sitting back some of these interviews and be like nah, I ain't trying to go there if you're not going to treat me right, if you ain't got the offensive line, if you ain't got the coach. No, not every player can do that.
Speaker 2:I was going to say, if you ain't know, if you're not top five guaranteed, I wouldn't do that, because then you could fall.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you can't do that unless you top five. And I wouldn't do that because then you could fall. Yeah, you can't do that unless you top five. And you may not even do that if you top five. You got to be like Andrew Luck, Trevor Lawrence, what we thought he was at the time, that type of level quarterback.
Speaker 2:Well, hell, I even think the only person I feel like and you know I love Abdul-Khaw, the only person I feel like could do that in his draft was Travis Holden. Yeah, he was the only person that could be like I don't not even say it back, just be like I don't want to play. Yeah, no disrespect, I don't want to play. I feel like he's the only talent in this draft that can actually get away with it. I agree.
Speaker 1:The only thing Cam.
Speaker 2:Ward could get away with it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's probably maybe every year there's maybe one prospect, not every year, but maybe once in a while. Every two or three years there's maybe one prospect that can get away with something like that. Travis Hill is probably that one prospect that could have did that this year Outside of everybody else. You usually got to be happy you get drafted. It's only 32 of them that get drafted.
Speaker 1:But what was confusing to me, he got sent back to what you said, the T-Bowl thing. They didn't want him. That's what was word going around? That the Raiders didn't draft him because they got Geno. He signed a new contract. They didn't want him as his backup, which I thought would have been perfect. Another team that was confusing that why they didn't get him was the Pittsburgh Steelers. They ended up getting Will Howard later on in the draft, I believe the 6-7 round. I don't understand why y'all didn't get him. Y'all needed a quarterback. Y'all waiting on old man Rogers he's probably high somewhere and y'all waiting for him to call y'all back. Y'all tripping Y'all high for waiting on him. Y'all should just drop your door.
Speaker 2:So, john, he had a black hole somewhere no phone service, nothing, house and shrooms or something, not even knowing where his phone was, yeah, stupid, saints drafted Tyler Shook, giants drafted Jackson Dart.
Speaker 1:Outside of those teams I was like, eh, I don't know. Then I was thinking my other team. I was really interested in the Los Angeles Rams. They need a young backup, because Matthew Stafford, he ain't got much longer. And then Cleveland Brown, another team that needed a quarterback. Thought they was going to get him, but they drafted Dylan Gabriel and then they drafted Shador in the fifth round. So right now in their quarterback room is Deshaun Watson, who will probably never play another down for the Cleveland Browns again.
Speaker 1:Unfortunately. Joe Flacco, unfortunately, I'm just saying he tore his Achilles. I'm just calling it. I'm trying to be nice man. I'm trying to be nice, try to be nice to everybody. You know how I'm just trying to be nice. You know how I am. I'm just trying to be nice. You know how I am. Anyways, joe Flacco, old man, joe Flacco, he's just collecting the check. Man, that man got his ring, got his bag or two, he's just there collecting the check. If y'all need me, I'll go out there and sling a few passes for y'all Kenny Pickett, who's on this third team in as many years, dylan Gabriel, who they drafted in the third round, and Shador Sanders.
Speaker 1:When I seen the Cleveland Browns drafted, I don't know. It's such a Cleveland thing to do. What are they doing? You draft Dylan Gabriel, then you draft Shador. Makes no sense to me, but look for Shador. It's going to be a quarterback battle and it's literally going to be between Dylan Gabriel, kenny Pickett and Shador. Joe Flacco will probably start, but who knows if he's going to be there the whole season. They might start sucking it up. Let's get it back up Between Dylan Gabriel, kenny Pickett and Shandora Sanders. Kenny Pickett, you're probably going to lose. You're probably going to get cut. I'm just going to call a spade a spade. You're probably going to get cut and it's going to be between Dylan Gabriel and the Shandora Sanders. Nfl teams like to protect their draft picks, but Cleveland Browns, they had the team to draft them. With those five people in the quarterback room, how are you feeling?
Speaker 2:Well, in fairness, it's only four because, like you said, deshaun Watson's not going to play. So everybody is saying counting Deshaun Watson, but he's still his Achilles, he's not playing this year, so he technically doesn't count. And, like you said, joe Flacco's going to be the starting quarterback day one, unless something happens crazy. Joe Flacco's going to start the season because he's the veteran, he's the proven commodity. The question comes into which I don't even think is really a question. The question is how long Kenny Pickett is on the roster. That's just really. That's what it boils down to. Or you're going to work those three out Kenny Pickett, shador and Dylan Gargoyle. You're going to work those three out Kenny Pickett, shador and Dylan Gabriel. You're going to work those three out. The worst of the three is going to get cut.
Speaker 2:I don't see a place where you're going to get rid of the two you just drafted, unless you attempt to trade them, unless you know a bunch of tape. Get out Y'all. Do the tape yourself. And both of them is balling well, even Kenny Pickett. Y'all can see somebody going to need a quarterback. We're going to trade y'all this quarterback. That's what they bank it on. Hell. Even Joe Flacco started the season off high. Did we trade Joe Flacco for maybe a fourth-round pick late in the year? That's best For Cleveland. That's best-case scenario. Joe Flacco started off high, but we see what we got in these backups. Cool, we're going to trade Joe Flacco. Get some assets in return. Yeah, that's the best case scenario for Cleveland.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I really just thought it was Alex Outside of Cleveland. Who do you think Shador should have went to, because it doesn't make sense. But Shador has a good chance of being a starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns Outside of Pittsburgh. I think that's the only other place he has a good chance to be in the starter.
Speaker 2:I can tell you, the team you just said the team Pittsburgh you don't have a quarterback. Hell, y'all should have drafted two quarterbacks, because I know y'all are playing on Storten and I was Mason Rudolphs man, I know you, that can't be the plan. And then you can't, it's no way. You wait until them later rounds and see you see Shador sitting there and you're like, nah, I ain't going to do it. If anybody could check the Not check crime not check Because I don't want to make it like an altercation type situation. But if anybody could deal with the noise, it's Tomlin Yep, because he does, he's done it, he done had crazy, where I've seen his whole time there or running back.
Speaker 1:Half the time we didn't even know. Half the time we didn't know because he kept them on the wraps.
Speaker 2:We didn't know till they was gone. Now pick it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, generation of crash out right there.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, yeah. But if anybody could deal with the extra noise and whatever that comes with drafting Shador and Deion if anything comes with Deion, because Deion know the business what if Deion don't do nothing? What if Deion just hey, I'm the head coach of Colorado, I don't got time for this. You know what I'm saying? What if that's the case? That's really what it should be.
Speaker 1:Really. He's a college coach that takes up a lot of his time. He's probably going to watch the Sun every Sunday.
Speaker 2:Does it take up a lot of his time.
Speaker 1:He got time to do a show on TV and I was told that he doesn't go on high school recruit trips.
Speaker 2:So does it take up that much of his?
Speaker 1:time.
Speaker 2:He has a little bit more time than a lot of college coaches. Probably how Deion doing is picking up the phone on FaceTime like hey, so what's up what you trying to do? He ain't really going to. He's not going to high school Come on, You're right, You're right, but yeah.
Speaker 1:So draft, nothing really else crazy. But Steelers, they got Will Howard good quarterback. He had good he was. He was good enough to win a national championship because he had a great team around him. I'm not going to say he's bad. I won't say he's bad. He's a national champion winning quarterback.
Speaker 2:He was a quarterback at Ohio State. I think that's the fair way to put it. It's like quarterback Alabama. His weapons are around you. All you got to do is not F it up.
Speaker 1:He did. You got to give him credit for not F it up he's. I'd rather have him than Mason Rudolph, because I know what Mason Rudolph is going to do and it's not going to be a whole lot of nothing. Will Howard might do something for me, but we'll see Mason.
Speaker 2:Rudolph had a helmet swinging. I'm just saying, hey, what you say, we calling it how it is. I'm just calling it how it is. He had a helmet being swung at him.
Speaker 1:Mason Rudolph got a history yeah, he got a bad history, but that wasn't the craziest thing that actually happened at the drive. Apparently a kid he's actually I wouldn't say a kid 21, 22 year old man got the phone numbers of multiple draft prospects. Now Shadua Sanders. He was the most notable one because he was live streaming when it happened and obviously he had a crazy generational fall from in the draft he went from probably should have been maybe late first round, early second round to fifth round. He got called Dude pranked him. He actually recorded being pranked but apparently he wasn't the only one. Tyler Warren came out and said that he got pranked, called as well. Abdul Carter, also another person who said he got a prank call. They said it was when the Jets was on the clock. They called him but he ended up getting picked and picked a draft pick later. So it wasn't that big of a deal. Tyler Warren and apparently there may be some other players out there, but Shadur Sanders was the most notable. But it turned out to be the Atlanta Falcons' defensive coordinator of some sort, the Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator of some sort. Apparently he had the prospect list on his laptop or iPad. His son came in, swiped a bunch of numbers, prank, called a few of the players, but it cost him, it cost the Atlanta Falcons $25,000, $250,000 and it cost him $100,000. So I saw this early on Twitter.
Speaker 1:Jeff Ubrich, the head coach, the dad, he don't make that much money. He makes a lot of money compared to us, but in terms of NFL level he don't make a lot. After tax, jeff Ubrich makes $800,000. His son cost him $100,000. So he lost one-eighth of his money. Before we get into the nitty-gritty, I got to ask you you have a son, I don't. Your son cost you one-eighth of your money. How are you feeling?
Speaker 2:I'm going to be pissed, but I'm going to get just straight up. But here's the thing I'm going to get them because of the money aspect of it. I'm going to get them because of our GP life. Yo dude, these men I ain't going to say these dudes these men have been working their life off to get to this moment and you think it's a joke. And then you got me out here looking like a fool. So I'm going to knock you out for two reasons before we get to the money, because, if you know anything about me, I don't like looking stupid. So you got me out here looking stupid. And then, more importantly, these people put their time and their effort in. They work since Pop Warner. You feel me Working their butts off to get to this moment? And you heard, I can't even leave my phone out. I mean the iPad. I can't leave my stuff out when I come home because your stupid ass out here trying to call down numbers and shit. Nah, nah, I'm going to get butt out, but for me, from my perspective, I think the fans should have been in reverse.
Speaker 2:I think the Atlanta Falcons should be held responsible somewhat, because you are their employee. So this fell under. Y'all watch. But I do think the that should have been the one that was fined the $250,000. And then I think that Atlanta should have been fined the $100,000. Because, at the end of the day, atlanta should take some accountability. But most of the accountability needs to follow on his defensive coordinator, and it needs to follow him because of the fact that his son can see okay, this is what happened. So then every other defensive coordinator, offensive coordinator, whoever sees this, they go to their kids like, hey, don't play with it, don't play with me. Hell, that make them lock all their stuff up. Man, but he got his daddy out here looking stupid, yep.
Speaker 1:Jeff Ulrich. He had to go to a press conference and apologize. Apparently they called Shadori Sanders and apologized. He put out an Instagram note to apologize. Don't know about Abdul Carter or Tyler Warren. I don't know if they got an apology as well. It wasn't just, obviously, the son. The son was the one that stole it, but it looks like his dorm mates, his college friends, a group of them, do it together Apparently. We don't got the names of them, but we got the name of the son. I'm not going to say his name because I ain't even trying to deal with that.
Speaker 2:That's a good point. Not only did you cost me your little knucklehead friends that you in class with, just cost me a bunch of bread. Don't bring them around my house, hey, you need to change your surroundings. None of y'all thought this was a bad idea. It's what? Two, three of y'all, four None of y'all. It crossed none of y'all minds that it was a bad idea. But when I heard it was a prank and I saw what he looked like, I tell you that makes sense. He looked like the type that would do that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it was so stupid, but so you think the punishment should have been a little bit more?
Speaker 2:Probably yeah. Don't forget the $100,000, like you said. Nah, I'm going to cost you more than one AVO birdie.
Speaker 1:Some people are saying maybe take some of their draft picks. I don't think they should have did that, but I mean it had to have been a fine. I don't know what else you could have done outside of a fine. Yeah, a fine, or draft pick. You kind of wanted to punish the son, but you don't necessarily as the NFL, you don't know how you would do that. So you got to hit the dad, but you got to hit him hard Because you hit the dad hard you know they're going to hit their son hard.
Speaker 2:Literally it's going to roll downhill. You know how it works it rolls downhill, but yeah, no, he should pay. I think the fine should be switched. I think the defensive coordinator's fine should be bigger than the Atlanta Falcons' fine.
Speaker 1:So I guarantee that won't happen anytime soon. Apparently, the NFL is going to try to make some extra measures to prevent that. I don't know what they're going to do, probably just make these people lock up stuff more better.
Speaker 2:No, honestly, it might just be the GMs that I have on them. That's it, yeah.
Speaker 1:And really, man, I wish they wouldn't. It's not as bad as it used to be. It used to be when you watched the draft before the pick was announced. They'll cut to the green room or cut to the video where they at, and you'll see the guy on the phone crying because they've already talked to the people that's about to draft them and they didn't announce them. They don't do that as much as they used to do, but I feel like they shouldn't even just call him until after they hear the draft get announced.
Speaker 2:really, man I don't know if you remember, because you're a little younger than me, you should be up enough where, like when they was negotiating contracts, they could tell, like you know, like Sam Bradford, I think he was the last person to do it.
Speaker 1:It was Sam Bradford or Matthew Stafford, one of them.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Matthew signed his contract when he was getting drafted. He got drafted first Before he walked on there. He signed his contract.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so the contract was already agreed, because that was before it was a rookie wage scam, yeah. So, yeah, man, I remember them days, hell. We used to know the draft picks before draft night. It would be pick six or seven, and that's when the draft actually started. Yeah.
Speaker 1:Things have certainly changed. Speaking of things that changed an NFL head coaching legend, he has a change of scenery, as he is now the head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels. Now, before we get to really what we want to talk about, I kind of had an issue with the hire for North Carolina because they had Mack Brown. They got rid of Mack Brown because they was like bro, you too old to be doing this. They got rid of Mack Brown because they was like, bro, you too old to be doing this, Forced him out just to have somebody just as old, if not older, than him in Bill Belichick. If I'm Mack Brown, I'm fired up Like I know that's.
Speaker 2:Bill Belichick. But dang, I think they felt like they reached a ceiling. I think that's what it was. They felt like they reached a ceiling with Mack. That's what it was. They felt like they reached a ceiling with me. True.
Speaker 1:Like you said, bill Belichick is Bill Belichick, but that's not really why the reason Bill Belichick has been in the news lately it's been more so his 24, 25-year-old girlfriend. I'm just going to get full transparency. I already think it's weird. Man, what? 75, 76? You're dating a 25-year-old? I think it's weird. I'm not going to judge you too much because, hey, I'm not going to be in people's love lives like that. That's what you like. I'm just glad she's got a full. Her frontal lobe is fully developed, that's all I can say. I'm glad her frontal lobe is fully developed, that's all I can say. I'm glad the Front of the Lobe is fully developed and it's not anybody younger like 19 because some people think that's okay. I don't think what Bill Belichick is doing is okay. I think it's weird. I'm just saying I just want to point that out to begin with. But it has become a lot more weirder because this woman seems like she's more than just his girlfriend. She seems like she's trying to act like his publicist, act like his agent. And she, you know Bill Pelichick. He wanted Hard Knocks to follow North Carolina. Hard Knocks was like cool. Nfl Films gave them the okay. Hard Knocks was like cool After a couple weeks, apparently Hard Knocks was like cool. Nfl Films gave them the okay, hard Knocks was like cool. After a couple weeks, apparently Hard Knocks was like nah we good dog. Reportedly, the reason why they was like nah we good dog is because Bill Belichick's girlfriend, jordan Hudson, was trying to have too much input into the situation where it got uncomfortable, where they had to back out.
Speaker 1:Then recently Bill Belichick had an interview, I believe, promoting his book. You know, normally interview stuff, interview stuff. Apparently she was there just hovering, or okay, weird, and they was asking Bill Belichick questions and she was butting in. First off, bill's a grown man, he can answer his own questions. But they asked the man a simple question because they was talking about his relationship. They were saying it was weird, but they not giving him too much judgment, like, oh you know, y'all love each other, blah, blah, blah. How did y'all meet Jordan? Instantly butted in and was like nah, we not talking about that, which raised some crazy red flags. Now, apparently I didn't know it till this recently came out apparently they met each other on a airplane and she was reading a book and apparently she got bill belichick to sign it. Whoopty, whoop. Ever since the recent interview has happened.
Speaker 1:There's been a lot of people trying to figure out what's going on. Something's looking funny in the light. They're digging into her life seeing what's going on. They dig into it so much that they found out that her mother not only owns a sex shop but she's also an owner of a sex museum. There's been rumors swirling that she may be something such as a escort. That has not been confirmed or confirmed, but there's just been rumors. There was a lot I said there. I usually don't like to talk that much to set some things up, but I had to because there was a lot going on Before we get to football-wise. Your thoughts on just the whole relationship and this weirdness it has caused here recently.
Speaker 2:Well, see, that's where I came up with. What made me want to talk about this was because of the weirdness. Does it bleed over into football? Because, like you said, with her trying to micromanage everything that goes on around him, does it start to bleed into the football situation? I think that's where my I think that's where the concern is for me as far as the whole situation in general. You know, man, people do it every day. 70-year-old men fall in love with 20-year-old women. They do it all the time.
Speaker 2:We typically look at it because of money situations, but we don't know if that's the case or not and I don't want to speak on whatever you know her profession is, but I want to know what do you think if it's going to bleed into football?
Speaker 2:Because at this point I'm starting to think he's going to have a very unsuccessful one as the North Carolina head coach, because of the simple fact of everything she's trying to do, because the hard knocks was to give North Carolina a new look, to give it a to, you know, make it a thing in the public eye, and make, because when you think of North Carolina, you think of basketball, you don't think about football whatsoever, and he's trying to make it a football school, or at least you know router, and he's trying to make it a football school, or at least you know, rather.
Speaker 2:And that would have. Harden Knox would have been a good look, because you know he does great for those NFL teams. But with her messing that up now you're messing up the recruiting aspect. You're getting in the way of the money as well. I'm just going to think yo, how far does this go? Is she going to be out here being defensive coordinator calling plays? I'm just starting to think it's going to blur the line so much that she's going to make a very successful head coach look like a failure at the college level, and he wouldn't be.
Speaker 1:Let's call it space. If they win games, none of this is going to matter. But what?
Speaker 2:if they don't.
Speaker 1:If they do, it's going to make it a lot more uglier. I mean something else that she has done in terms of the football aspect. If you don't know, bill Belichick has hired his son, steve Belichick, as a DC. He was the DC for Washington, then he's the DC there, apparently Jordan.
Speaker 1:She had to send out an email out pretty much saying and I read it, saying I read it, I read it. I listened to a podcast about it. I ain't gonna lie, it sounded like something that ChatGPT wrote. I'm not gonna lie, I'm not saying she, it was ChatGPT, but it sounded like it. But pretty much saying Steve Belichick isn't a nipple baby. Blah, blah, blah. Treat Steve Belichick with a little bit more respect. Basically, that was the gist of it. Steve is not a nipple baby. Blah, blah, blah. Treat Steve Belichick with a little bit more respect. Basically, that was the gist of it. Steve's not a nipple baby. I don't know. The whole situation is weird and the fact that we're not talking about Bill Belichick as a coach and we're talking about his relationship with this woman is very, very odd and it might be ruining his legacy a little bit.
Speaker 2:I think that's my biggest concern. Is he going to ruin his legacy and tarnish the way that we look at him, at least from his coach, as a his career as a college coach? I think that's going to be the biggest concern.
Speaker 1:Yeah, right, and but let's see. Do you think he's going to be successful enough? Carlisle, their schedule is very easy. They don't have Louisville on the schedule. That's a good thing.
Speaker 2:I mean, I thought he was going to be successful. We're going to see what she's going to do. I really thought that he was going to. I thought he was going to. You know, I didn't say they was about to go in here and go undefeated for sure, but Eight, nine wins, yeah, I thought that was realistic for him in his first season. Yeah, but if he got worried about what she doing and what she not doing, he might not be able to focus on coaching.
Speaker 1:Yeah, because she has been very public with her relationship on Instagram. If you know Bill Belichick, hey, man, he's not a public person, he's the driest private individual. You know, his go-to is we're on to Cleveland, you in the interview with him, we're on to Cleveland, we're on to the next week. So I'm interested to see how much that's going to change, with this young woman on his hip, seemingly never leaving his side. So wish you the best of luck, bill, in every game, except for when you play Louisville. Luckily, you don't play Louisville next season, so wish you best of luck in every other game.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I just hope, like you said, it don't get torched.
Speaker 1:So we got to talk about the NBA playoffs. Man, it's starting to heat up. These games are starting to get good. There's actually a playoff game right now. It looks like it's coming down to the wire the New York Knicks Detroit Pistons 116-113. With 4.3 seconds left. We will probably know a winner before we get off of the pod, but before we go to that, you know you had your Pacers pretty much sending the Milwaukee Bucks to small market hell because they're a small market team. You know how small market teams they don't fare very well. The Lakers just got put out in five. You know Lakers, bakers, fakers God does not forsake us Wolves in five. And then you got obviously OKC. They mopped the floor with the Grizzlies and Miami Heat. They was ready for their vacation. Bam, he was trying to spend some time with his girl, clearly because, boy, the Detroit Pistons literally just got sent home. So Detroit Pistons are now also heading to Cancun. Are the Orlando Magicers heading to Cancun? Any of those teams or series you want to spend some significant time on?
Speaker 2:Well, I think we should talk about the losing teams and like where they go. We can talk about the winning teams, because they're going to win. You know, we're going to talk about them again, and so I think the easiest one, I think the juiciest one to start out with is the Bucs, and the question boils down to what's going on with Giannis and what's Giannis' future.
Speaker 1:Yeah, like I keep saying, I said it last week Milwaukee there. Looks like they're going to be heading back to Small Market Hill, right there with Portland, right there with Portland, right there with Charlotte. Who else is out there? Portland, charlotte, that's about it. That's about it. I think those are the teams that's in more Small Market Hill. But Giannis, he's out of there more than likely.
Speaker 2:We can't assume Giannis is out of there. Why would he?
Speaker 1:stay Dame Lillard done for the next year. He ain't playing next season.
Speaker 2:It's true. It's true. I think it's a possibility that, especially because his wife posted a picture of him and all the kids and all the Milwaukee drill the next day, I know they're hearing all that noise. I think that was posted for a reason. I think it's up to Milwaukee what you're going to do because, like you said, you're an expensive team right now because of the name, because of Giannis and all these other picks. Kuzma I tried it for Kuzma. He didn't do nothing for you. You could have kept Militant for that if that was the case. Brooke Lopez is long in the tooth and his contract's up. So is Bobby Portis. You can't afford to bring all these new backers running back. You're going to have to get younger. You're going to have to figure out who you can trade, what you can trade to get some assets without trading Giannis.
Speaker 1:Or you can trade Giannis and reset.
Speaker 2:You could, but do you really want to do that? If you want, no, I think you go into this offseason attempting to figure out what we can do. What can we do to keep Giannis hurt? They done it before. They got Drew Holiday when he was upset. They got Dane when he was upset. They've proven that they can figure some stuff out. Can they do it again? We shall see. How can they get, though. I mean, kevin Durant won't be traded. We know Kevin Durant going somewhere this year, true. Now how do they get to $50 million without trading Dame? I do not know, but they're going to have to figure that out.
Speaker 1:I don't know. I think I don't know what I would do Personally. If I'm honest, I personally want to help. I mean, I gave you guys a ring. At least I gave you a ring. If I'm Milwaukee, I got a ring from one ring I know it's basketball, Usually basketball you need a couple rings to feel satisfied, especially if you're a bigger franchise. You got one ring, you should be satisfied.
Speaker 2:Well, kareem got a one ring, and then Kareem left.
Speaker 1:So I think it's okay to reset. If I'm honest, I'm going to go to San Antonio. Steven Castle he just won Rookie of the Year. Hey, bring him up here, we'll figure it out. Nice little reset, figure it out.
Speaker 2:See, that's the thing they called the Strayer Harrison Barnes too, because the money got matched.
Speaker 2:If they had the NBA two years ago, we could put a bunch of people together and make contracts match, especially if you, with the whole aprons and all that situation that's the other thing about trading Giannis you trade Giannis for another star player or one or two pieces that make that same type of money. You can't put a bunch of people together. So I think it's not going to be as easy to trade Giannis. I'm just going to keep it real. The other team that's interesting to me as far as where they go now is Orlando, because they got a bunch of young dudes and they had some injuries. So, orlando, do you stand back or do you start looking to add more? Go after the star, go after the score, because they got the defense.
Speaker 1:I think you somewhat stand back. I think you're probably interested in Giannis or KD. You might try to kick the tires on them too. See what it's going to cost you Phoenix. They probably going to want a lot, but they damn near going to have to give KD up for free because they can't really take much for him. So I will see what's up with KD, see if he wants to come down to Orlando. I think they got a young team. I think they're still a year or two away.
Speaker 1:If you look at OKC man, like they stood pat. I know a lot of people saying OKC, they got the assets to get a KD, to get a Yonis. But if I'm OKC, I'm cool, I'm staying pat. Even if this team don't make it to the NBA Finals, I feel like I have a team. If I keep this core together, this unit together, they can make some noise and win a championship within the next three or four years. So I'm not really worried about getting a superstar Orlando. You can stand back. But if you're trying to kickstart it a little bit more, probably look at a KD, probably look at a Giannis, kick the tires and see what's up with them.
Speaker 2:It's going to be the names Jamal Murray, even though I know they plan, they haven't lost a series yet. Jamal Murray might be an interesting situation that somebody might want to look out for. Sean's talked about Bosque's going to have to shake it up at some point, so maybe Jalen Brown's on the market. I think it's potential for people to be out there. Like you said, Orlando's interesting to me. Miami, I don't know what you do.
Speaker 1:They don't got no assets to get anybody.
Speaker 2:That's why I said I don't know what you do. So to me no offense, no offense to Miami at all. They're not interested in them. It's not that they're not interested in talking about because you got Bam. Do you really reset and trade Hero and Bam and start all the way over? But they don't, like you said, they don't got. They don't got no assets, they don't got no young dudes. So what you trade?
Speaker 1:Yeah, what they need to do is hey, y'all want something to sun or beach, well, we'll give you a beach, we'll give you one of these strip clubs or something. They got to dig deep to find something to trade because they have absolutely nothing.
Speaker 2:Like I said, miami I don't know about Miami, and then Memphis ooh, I forgot about John.
Speaker 1:Yeah, john's, another one of them superstars who could be on the market. They're also in a small market hell at the moment. They're not in a small market hell at the moment. They're not as bad as some of those other ones because they have Ja Morant, but Ja might need to get a new change of scenery. Man that's the thing.
Speaker 2:Memphis, they got Ja, they got Desmond Bain and they got Jaron Jackson Jr. As a word, Milwaukee only got they got Giannis and that's it. So I feel like Memphis, theirs is a little bit different because even if you trade Ja, they showed that they could be competitive without Ja. I don't know if they made, you know, guaranteed playoff team without Ja, but you know they showed Play in.
Speaker 1:They be play in team.
Speaker 2:Yeah. So yeah, I forgot about Memphis. I mean, I think I would put Memphis over Orlando as far as because some people got to figure out what you're going to do with Joe.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you definitely got to figure out what you got to do with Joe. Then you got who else it was.
Speaker 2:Detroit just lost. Detroit just lost.
Speaker 1:Yeah, detroit just lost. They're definitely. They did way better than I thought they would this year. They're definitely. I'll put them more of a. Y'all can stand back. Y'all look good. Y'all got a very young core. Y'all can stand back, develop, get better. You just got probably the coach of the year. I don't know if it was no shit. I think it was Kenny Axson that won it actually. Yeah, I think, coach of of your finalists. Y'all good. Y'all really don't need to make some moves, but y'all probably going to make some moves.
Speaker 2:I was going to say I think Detroit is the team these questions we asking about. Like Orlando, do you stand back or do you go forward? Now we're probably going to ask that same question about Houston. If and whenever they lose, we're going to ask the same question. He used to win. If and whenever they lose, we're going to ask the same question. I think I'm not kidding, I'm sorry. I think Detroit they answer them. Questions next year. Yeah, this year they stand back because nobody thought they was going to get hurt and they was in a very competitive series versus New York. Yeah, baby.
Speaker 1:Very competitive series Every game they lost.
Speaker 2:they very well could have won or should have won. Hell, this game, game six, they should have. Detroit should have won. So yeah, I think you ask these questions next year if you're Detroit about making a move, making a big piece this year, I think going into next season, they kind of stand back, figure out what they got. Damn, I forgot about Jai. Damn, that's the question. Hell, I think Jai is more interesting than Giannis.
Speaker 1:So Mark might as well ask if your franchise really don't matter. I mean Indiana, we're not really talking about y'all because y'all wouldn't, but y'all maybe could use an extra superstar, y'all could. Y'all wouldn't get Jai because you don't really want of Mr Tyrese, but say you're the owner of a whatever franchise that feels like you got a good core. You might need one superstar away. You got Katie, you got Ja, you got Giannis. Which one would you go after?
Speaker 2:I think, of course, the easy thing to say is it depends on the team, it depends on the pieces I get. I'm going to go with Giannis because I think Giannis is, if he ain't the second-best player, he's the third-best player in the world. So I'm going to go with Giannis without question, especially if you're a team like, like you said, the San Antonio Spurs. He'll fit next to me, and also they got De'Aaron. Like, like you said, the San Antonio Spurs, he'll fit next to Lincoln, and also they got De'Aaron Fox, so they don't need y'all.
Speaker 1:Nope.
Speaker 2:And then Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant makes sense for Houston.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean people have already put him in Houston. I mean we'll talk about them in the next episode if they lose, or we won't talk about them in the next episode if they lose. Yeah, we won't talk about them for another couple weeks, but they might be a stand-packed team but they might feel like they are like KD away.
Speaker 2:You know the team we lock, we forget, which would probably be the headline inside of this episode.
Speaker 1:I mean we were saving them for last anyway.
Speaker 2:Okay, cool.
Speaker 1:We kind of know what they need. We kind of know.
Speaker 2:We going to get to them.
Speaker 1:I'm trying to knock out everybody else and save them for last.
Speaker 2:Let's go get to them To ask you a question. I will go with Giannis, come on. Like I said, he's either the second or third best player.
Speaker 1:We might as well go ahead and talk about him, the Los Angeles Lakers. They lost to the Wolves. You know, lakers, like I said, lakers, bakers, fakers God does not forsake us Wolves in five. Ant-man, you might as well call him the legend. Kelly knocked KD out last yeared, lebron out this year. Where do the Lakers go from here? Because, outside the obvious, because if you watch the game, you watch the series, you watch any game. They need a big and JJ Redick did not want to play the bigs that they had because he felt, I guess, he wasn't confident in them. For whatever reason. Jackson Hayes was not confident in him. He put in Max Kleber, who hasn't played in over a year, in that last game. Don't know why he had confidence in him. But hey, jj, you the coach. Where do you think they go?
Speaker 2:Man. I don't know if you've seen my Twitter post. Mark Williams would have looked real good. Yeah, on this Laker team right now, with Rudy looking like Shaq. Rudy at her looking like Shaq 20 and 20 is crazy.
Speaker 2:I ain't never seen Rudy play like that, but why wouldn't he? The main person was going to him was 6'8 to 6'9, was LeBron Vanderbilt or Dorian Phoenix Smith, so why wouldn't I attack them? That's what he's supposed to do. You ain't facing another seven-footer. I'm going to kill y'all. I'm going to kill y'all in this game. So what do the Lakers do? Thing number one they need a rim-protecting rim-running B. Thing number one they need a rim protecting rim running beat. That's thing number one. Also, jackson Hayes should have played at least a couple minutes in this playoff series.
Speaker 1:When Rudy was going off. Hey, bro, you see that man, he's 7'1". You got to keep him off the glass or something. Do that for me.
Speaker 2:I don't know if he will rebound. 15 rebounds, 17 rebounds, 20. At some point you might want to put your seven-footer in the game and stop allowing him to get every single rebound. I heard of him Ain't no way he got eight down off his rebounds and you ain't thinking one time to put your B again. Hey, don't be. Jj Redick is a smart, intelligent dude. He knows more basketball than I ever would know, but I also know common sense. If they got a seven-footer and he's killing us, okay, let me attempt. Let me at least attempt to put my seven-footer in.
Speaker 1:And I know Jackson Hayes is not the offensive. Third you would want to be, want him to be, but Rudy isn't either. Hey, just cancel him out. Cancel him out, man. Basically, we're going to be four on four out there. Just cancel that man out, make sure you don't do nothing, and when he come on the bench I'm going to bring you back on the bench. Simple as that.
Speaker 2:It was that simple. They need a rim runner, big. They also need they need more wings. But it's crazy to say because I think Vanderbilt is solid, I think Dorian Finney-Smith is solid and then LeBron's LeBron, but I feel like they need more athletic wings?
Speaker 1:Yeah, they had. I mean, Dr Jeanette had a pretty good rookie year. Seems like JJ lost confidence in him, at least defensively, because he had a bunch of DNPs in this series.
Speaker 2:Man Duke basically didn't play after the trade. After the trade they did not have it. After Dr Jeanette didn't get traded. It's basically like I didn't want you, I wanted you gone, so we're going to take you on the bench. At least that's what it felt like from my perspective. At least that's what it felt like from my perspective. It felt like, hey, I didn't want you here, so I ain't going to play.
Speaker 1:So I have a list of bigs that are 2025 offseason free agents. Some are restricted. A couple are player options. I'm going to see if they fit your fancy. If you Rob Palenka, jj Regg. If any of them you like, brooke Lopez, hello, clint Compella. If you Rob Palenka or JJ Reagan, if any of them you liked Brooke Lopez, who else? Clint Capella?
Speaker 2:I mean Clint Capella. Feel like he old, but I don't think he's that old.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he feel like he been in the league in a minute for a minute. Yeah, but I think he only like 31, 32.
Speaker 2:But he feel like he Brooke Lopez age, but he's not.
Speaker 1:Miles Turner.
Speaker 2:Man Cole, I don't even know why you said that. I started telling you at the beginning Don't even say that name, don't even say that name. He get paid by us we paying him. But honestly, honestly though, that's what Tangent, real quick, that's what every team needs is a big like Miles Turner. I don't understand why Miles Turner don't get the respect that he needs, that he deserves. Do block shots, get rebounds, shoot stories I don't know what else you want him to do and he can switch. I don't understand why Miles Turner gets so much hate and hell, he gets hate from Indiana Faces fans. There's still some Faces fans that feel like we should have kept some bonus over Miles Turner. Nah, of Pacers fans, there's still some Pacers fans that feel like we should have kept Sabonis over Miles Turner.
Speaker 1:Nah, they tripping.
Speaker 2:I mean Halliburton and Turner fit better than Halliburton and Sabonis.
Speaker 1:Yeah, true, very true, very, very true. This guy I doubt that he has a play option, but he killed him. I don't even see him as a center. But Nas Reed, he's a big, but I don't even see him as a center.
Speaker 2:But I think he will work. He's better than what he's big at. I think he's 16, 16, 16.
Speaker 1:He has a playoff, so we'll see Steven Adams.
Speaker 2:Steven Adams. Steven Adams is past the not past his prime, but he ain't where he's going to give you 35 minutes a night. He's at the 20-25 minutes a night category. He's a rim protector and a rebounder, but he's not a lob threat, so he don't really fit with Luka from that perspective.
Speaker 1:These next two dudes? I doubt it because they might be retiring soon. But Al Horford and Andre Drummond yeah.
Speaker 2:Drummond maybe, but not really. Kevon Looney Nah, he ain't a lot.
Speaker 1:Third John Collins, john Collins.
Speaker 2:I think John Collins is better than people giving credit. I do too. I'm not saying I'm not saying Burr going to be in the Hall of Fame, but I think he's a solid road. I think he's a solid, above average role player. So I wouldn't man, but I don't know if they have the money to pay John Collins. That's the other thing. I don't understand why the Lakers are strapped for cash. But they strapped for cash Because all the people I feel like that's getting paid on their roster. Really, because Austin Reeves is on a good contract, all they can get paid is Luka and LeBron.
Speaker 1:Yep and Luka. They didn't pay Luka. They just took over the contract Dallas gave them.
Speaker 2:Yeah. They're going to have to drop a super bag off on them in a couple years? Yeah, I was going to say, was that like two years from now? Next year? Yeah, next year. But I mean I know Lucas getting like 40 million now, 40 million, I think, 30, 40 million now, but still only two people that they can't pay feel like is LeBron and Lakers. How much are they paying these role players?
Speaker 1:Yeah, and the last one is pressure's a chore, and the last one is Precious Achua. So I don't know, but they got to get a big some way. Somehow. Even looking at G League or something, they might need to go overseas, because seemingly the overseas players all the bigs is good with nice footwork. And then another question for you while we're here A lot of people said Nico Harrison was taking a victory lap after yesterday's game because Luka looked old and slow and fat, like they've been calling him, he'd been hurt. Do you still think it was a good trade for the Lakers?
Speaker 2:They got Luka.
Speaker 2:I mean let's be honest, they got either the second or third best player in the world. Now he is, so they was talking about it on first take, like how much of a defensive liability he is. I feel like we got to do that. That's why you get a real protecting big, because, in fact, you know what Luke is going to do, matador, he just let him. He let him play. Now I did see him try a lot. It didn't really go well for him, but he did try. But you knew what it was with Luka. That's why you did a real protecting big. A lot of people's questioning it now, like you're saying.
Speaker 1:I still think it's a good trade. Yeah, I think it's a good trade. Yeah, I think it's a good trade. I think, like I said, when the trade happened, it opened your championship window a lot more. With LeBron and AD, your championship window was short. You wasn't going to win a championship with AD as your best player once LeBron retired. I'm just calling it spade to spade. Ad, he's a good player. He can't do it by himself. Even when he was in his prime with the Pelicans, he can't do it. Lebron didn't gap too much longer. You get Luka. Luka goes to like 24, 25. You get at least another 10, 12 years of having one of the best players in the world. You good, instead of what you would have with AD. Ad probably what has three or four more good years left in him.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I would say three or four Maybe five at the top, didn't it?
Speaker 1:I don't like it with Dallas. Long term I don't like it with Dallas because it's short on your championship window. It makes you a good team. But it hurt because Kyrie got hurt. Ad couldn't stay healthy. But another team that they're saying KD might go to is Dallas. You think that'll work out for them.
Speaker 2:I don't know if KD wants to play with Kyrie again because of the whole Brooklyn situation. But honestly, if I'm KD, it depends on what KD wants. If KD wants to win another championship, go all out one more. Last time I'm going to Dallas. Give me two years, me, ad and Kyrie. We'll figure it out. But the question boils down to is who the hell is Dallas starting? I'm going to put that in the chart in a second. I'm going to do that so we can post-pod.
Speaker 1:I'm going to put that in the chart in a second. I don't know because I don't know what they got, man, yeah, I guess one of those picks that the Lakers got you, I think that's what I was going to say.
Speaker 2:They only gave you one, didn't?
Speaker 1:they yeah. Imagine how much they could have gotten if they actually yeah, they could have got all of the Lakers draft picks if they wanted it and they chose not to.
Speaker 2:Very, very stupid by the Dallas Mavericks what you said don't make no damn sense, don't make no type of sense.
Speaker 1:The game going on right now is the Denver Nuggets versus Los Angeles Clippers. Denver looks like they have awoken a little bit. I know you watched the last game. Does that give you any pause that they might can do some damage? When did this series get OKC next?
Speaker 2:I think we talked about this before If Mike Malone never got fired I was about to say Dallas Denver would have been a championship favorite, because look at them and this is with their backup coach. Look at what they're doing, putting on a great service. So I do think I and I hell I had Clippers in my top five too. I think both of them can give OKC a run for their money. I don't think I would pick neither one of them to beat OKC, but I can't see. But I can see OKC losing to them yeah both of those series, regardless who they play.
Speaker 1:Both of them is going six or seven games, you can see it. But hey, in-band playoffs are starting to heat up. Man, I forgot how much I enjoyed watching good, high-quality basketball games. Miami, I kind of messed it up a little bit last week. That was god-awful. You made me sick watching that Outside of that man. It is so much enjoyable watching playoff games. And then you watch regular season games Like damn, you guys really don't be caring to the regular season. Then you watch the playoffs, like this is what basketball is all about.
Speaker 2:Oh it's crazy the difference between regular season playoff, regular season games and playoff yeah it's crazy.
Speaker 1:Like almost reminds me of the Olympics man.
Speaker 2:They have Olympics basketball, some good basketball as well, but Hold on, I'll put it in the short final Klay Thompson, PJ Washington, Daniel Gafford and Max Christie. You can get AB, I'll do it. I will too, but then you ain't got no depth, you got figure.
Speaker 1:That's why the Phoenix Suns suck right now because they ain't got no depth.
Speaker 2:That leaves you with Najee Marshall, caleb Martin I guess you could flip Caleb Martin for Max Christie, but that would leave you live with him. You got to draft well, man, but that will leave you live with it.
Speaker 1:You got to draft well man. You got to get those player development coaches together. You got to get those scholars. You got to pay them a little bit of extra money because they got to put on that hard hat and do their job.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I feel like, yeah, you could. Yeah, they can make it work. They can make it work.
Speaker 1:I feel like, yeah, you could, yeah, they can make it work, they can make it work. They can make it work. But yeah, we will be here for the whole rest of the NBA playoffs. We are very much looking forward to a great playoffs because they already given us a good one so far all season, and we're looking forward to where KD, Ja or Giannis goes. Either they're going somewhere or they stay in. But, like I said, that'll do it for another episode of From Our Perspective. I'm your boy, Deion. Please like, Please subscribe.
