NBA free agency kicked off at lightning speed this year, with major moves happening just days after the Finals concluded, giving teams and players hardly any time to process the end of the season.

• Milwaukee Bucks making waves by buying out Damian Lillard for $20 million per year over five years, despite him still counting against their cap
• Dame's potential destinations include Boston, Minnesota, Miami, and Golden State
• Miles Turner leaving the Pacers to join their biggest rival in Milwaukee
• The Pacers preparing for a development year while Tyrese Haliburton recovers
• LeBron James trade possibilities looking slim due to his $53 million contract and no-trade clause
• Knicks finally hiring Mike Brown as head coach after waiting until Summer League began
• WNBA's continued growth with Indiana Fever winning the Commissioner's Cup
• Caitlin Clark facing apparent resistance from peers who ranked her ninth among guards in All-Star voting
• WNBA expansion to Detroit, Cleveland, and Philadelphia approved, bringing the league to 18 teams by 2029

Speaker 1:

Welcome, welcome, welcome back to another episode of. From my Perspective, I'm your boy Deion, coming to you with these perspective. Takes, once again, I'm your boy Deion, joined with the man, the myth, the legend. Captain Hater Q, how you doing?

Speaker 2:

Man, what do it is? You're another best. It's your boy, mr Bale. Aka man, you're another best.

Speaker 1:

Hey, we got to get right into it, nba's free agency, pretty much. They off-season kicked in and I find it so crazy that season ended like two Sundays ago and the off-season was like Wednesday, the next, following Wednesday, like God dang, give us a. I mean I understand, y'all don't want to give us a break. Y'all want to stay popping, but dang offseason here already.

Speaker 2:

Like man.

Speaker 2:

Bro, it was the finals on Sunday, the draft was on Wednesday. The combine was going on during the playoffs. Like I remember growing up I used to watch the combine, bro, what you can't watch it because you're watching the actual playoffs, and now it's during the day too, because the playoffs is going on. Like I understand, they want to stay. Like NFL too, they want to be constantly in the news. There's no offseason. But damn, like OKC, I feel like OKC won on Sunday. They was talked about on Monday. About Tuesday, they was talking about the trip.

Speaker 2:

Yep, that's exactly what it was. Ok, he didn't get no shot.

Speaker 1:

None, none. That's absolutely crazy. And the Summer League is what, probably what? Starting tomorrow? Damn near, ain't it? Or next week?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I was going to say I think it's starting next week sometime.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. So let's go ahead and get into some of the moves. Probably the biggest and most noteworthy news, and it also affects the Indiana Pacers Dame Dollar. They basically told him hey, bro, for the next five years we'll give you 20 mil just to not show up to our facility. So they basically bought him out at 20 mil, told him to go away. Now Dame's a free agent, he is free to go where he please.

Speaker 1:

But there was a reason to do it. They did that to free up space to pick up Miles Turner and yes, the Miles Turner that just played in the NBA Finals for the Indiana Pacers. I thought there was a strong possibility that he was going to get signed. I'm assuming the owners had a real eye. Apparently the owners they wanted him back. The Pacers just went to a price that they wasn't willing to go. The Pacers was willing to go a little bit into that luxury tax, but you got to imagine that Tyrese's injury affected how much they was willing to go. I'm sure they probably would have paid Miles the money he wanted if Tyrese wasn't hurt. It is what it is.

Speaker 1:

But before we talk about how it affects your Pacers, the Bucks did this for a reason they felt like they needed something to keep Giannis there. It was kind of crazy that Miles Turner chose to go to one of you guys' ops. I figured the Bucks, the Knicks and he. That's the Pacers' ops, the biggest ops from my perspective. You can tell me if I'm wrong as a Pacers fan. But Giannis, is Miles Turner going to keep Giannis? Because Miles Turner's a good player. I don't know if he's going to keep Giannis though.

Speaker 2:

Nah, let me tell you something. It's a saying that they talk about. When you're in a relationship and Giannis is in a relationship with the Milwaukee Bucks Only thing that can keep a person is that person wanting to be killed. There's no move that y'all gonna make that's gonna make Giannis wanna stay. It might be some moves that make Giannis wanna leave, but it ain't nothing. There's no move that's gonna make Giannis want to stay. So, that being said, is Miles Turner the move that'll make him? I mean, it gives him a center. He played well against Brook Lopez, gives him a younger Brook Lopez. So I mean that's a positive. But the way, the way Vendane thing. Look, I'm not a cap expert, I'm just an NBA fan. I do a lot, I do some research because I've been doing the buying. Can I just say how stupid I think that was.

Speaker 1:

They're giving that man $20 million a year, it's still going to be on their cap, it's still going to hit them.

Speaker 2:

It's the same. It's on your cap. It's $22 million a year. That's a starting NBA salary for a solid starter. $22 million is the price. So you're going to miss that for the next five years.

Speaker 2:

Dane was only under contract for the next two, so you could have paid. I mean, technically he had a play option for not for the 20 26 season, but still, I mean you knew he was going to pick that up, yeah, so so he was hurt for two. So I get it. You go to. You go to the honesty. You tell them the truth. We don't have no money this year. We don't have no cow. It's nothing we could do. Dame is hurt. Look, we just going to be real with you. But instead y'all wave no money this year, we don't have no cash, there's nothing we can do. Dame is hurt. Look, we're just going to be real with you. But instead y'all waved Dame, didn't tell Dame, didn't tell Giannis and didn't even holler at Giannis about trying to get Miles Turner. Come on, man, you have to know. Nobody.

Speaker 2:

Devin Booker was on the phone call with the potential head coaches for the Phoenix Suns. That's how you do this. Hey, you just stop. I ain't saying you make the decision, but we're going to run this stuff back and see how you feel they ain't even run this back and see how he felt. What if he would have just been like you know what? Nah, I know Dame ain't gonna be here, just pay for this bread. I figured it out, nick. Sure that could have been a strong possibility, because I feel like that's more what Giannis would have done, because I don't think Giannis is about. Giannis is more about loyalty, he old school. If you got Dame on this contract, then pay Dame his bread or at least talk to him about it. Y'all release Dame without even telling Dame.

Speaker 1:

But Dame might, dame might.

Speaker 2:

I don't know. It don't make sense to me. Like I said, you're paying $22 million for the next five years to a player that's not going to be on y'all roster. That's a starter, that's a solid starting point guard. And also think about this they ain't you know, they traded a bunch of draft picks to get Dame Little right.

Speaker 1:

They don't own their picks either. God, Portland hype too.

Speaker 2:

Hear me out, though, right. Not only do they still got to pay those draft picks, it's still a draft pick trade after the Drew Holiday situation. Drew Holiday, he in Boston got traded to Portland. I mean got traded to Portland, went to Boston and back in Portland by now, and they still owe a pick for that.

Speaker 1:

And that's exactly why I felt like the Bucs needed to. Obviously they don't want to trade Giannis, but I feel like if you did that second pick, I mean obviously Dallas wasn't going to give up that first pick.

Speaker 1:

It would have been ideal, but that second pick or the first pick, would have been ideal to basically reset. Because you need a big, you need a reset. They don't want to reset because they know sometimes resets don't go well. You can end up like Charlotte or Washington. You don't want to end up like them teams, but sometimes you might need to reset. Sometimes reset is a good thing. You can end up like OKC they reset. Look at them holding up the Larry LB. It's crazy. I don't know what the Bucs is going to do. I'd be surprised if Giannis stays. I'll be surprised if Gian stays, but I'll be surprised if he gets to ask for a trade. But my question, my next question, before we go to the Pacers side of things where do you think Dame going to go, even though he's not going to play next season, where do you think he's going to go?

Speaker 2:

Where do you think he should go? Oh, where do I think? Oh, there's one more thing I want to add here real quick. They should have stretched and waved and stretched Kyle Kuzma before you did it today. No shade to Kyle Kuzma, but I would have did it to Kyle Kuzma before I did it today. Where do I think Damian's going to go? Realistically, to me there's four options Boston, minnesota, miami, golden State options Boston, minnesota, miami, golden State. Those are the four options.

Speaker 2:

If I'm here Now, I know he wants to play close to home. I think Golden State would be. I mean, I know he's still living in Portland, but I don't see him going back to Portland. So Golden State would man be in the backup because they might come back by the end of the year. Yeah, so it might be a. It might be like a March, april. Dane might be good to play. Do you really want to go all the way to Boston or do you want to sound like it's one-year deal to play for Golden State, come back at the end of the year, get your legs up on you and then go into free agency again on the next year? If I'm Dane, I look at Golden State for next year, the year after Dane Dollar and Boston Bro, dane, derrick White, jalen Brown and Jason Taylor.

Speaker 1:

You got to keep in mind. I know other NBA teams already know he getting paid $20 million to not go to the Bucs facility. He ain't going to be pressed for no big contract, wherever he goes.

Speaker 2:

Dane is playing for mid-level exceptions for the rest of his career.

Speaker 1:

The next five years probably, and you got to think he ain't playing too much longer.

Speaker 2:

So the next five years probably, at least the next five years and you got to think he ain't playing too much longer. So his next five years, yeah, he's playing mid-level exceptions for the rest of his career because he's still getting 22 mil. So you're giving him an extra 15 mil a year. That's like him making 30 mil a year.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

So, dame and Boston bro, I know Dame don't play no defense, no, I, dame and Boston bro, I know Dame don't play no defense, no shade, no shade bro.

Speaker 1:

No, no, especially when you get it, when you're the offensive juggernaut like he is.

Speaker 2:

I don't play no defense. I don't mean no disrespect. Dame is just what it is. He play that mat at all. He play that mat at all. Defense, ole, go ahead and do your thing, my boy. Go ahead and do your thing. Who do your thing? But Derrick White, dude. Jalen Brown dude. Jason Tatum, dude. All they got to do is have a real protective center, boston's back, boston's back, and rebuilt their team after trading everybody away. But if I'm Dane, go to go, say this year, play for the minimum or whatever. Play for the minimum this year, stay close, stay on that side of the country and then go to Boston next year.

Speaker 1:

No shot this year. Stay close, stay on that side of the country and then go to Boston next year. So no shot. He goes to Miami. No, that's where he wanted to go. Miami is not the Miami that he wanted to go a couple years ago. But still no shot. He might just want to. You know, he getting at 22, he might just want to go to Miami. He might want to go to Live.

Speaker 2:

Miami's cool, but what's in Miami? You going to Miami to play with Andrew Wiggins. Is that what you're doing?

Speaker 1:

The Leo.

Speaker 2:

Strip Club is in Miami, the Beach is in Miami. Dame at this point needs to prove he a top 75. Yeah, because of all the people on that top 75, to. To me, the two biggest question marks was Anthony Davis and that, but Dwight Howard didn't make it.

Speaker 1:

Clay Thompson didn't make it either.

Speaker 2:

I mean.

Speaker 1:

I can understand that one.

Speaker 2:

I still don't understand Dwight Howard, and that's no shade to Dame. Do I think Dame is a Hall of Fame player and a great player in all time? Yeah, but do I think Dwight Howard better? Yeah, so Dane need to go somewhere where he can get a chip or two so his resume look better you done wrong.

Speaker 1:

I want you to be right. But hey, live as if by heavy. That's all I'm saying. Dane, that's all I'm saying. He a single man as far as I know. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he a single man as far as I know. But, uh, let's go ahead. We gotta talk about how that Dane getting released and Miles Turner going to Milwaukee, how it affects the Indian and the Pacers Because, like I said, you would have to think, if Tyrese did not get hurt and was not going to be out for the 2025-2026 season, that they was going to give Miles Turner what he wanted. But we live in a reality where Tyrese got hurt and I'm just going to say this man, I ain't going to lie, I've still been thinking about that game seven loss. I'm not even a Pacers fan. It's just, oh, that's tough. But I'm going to give you the floor. Give me your thoughts on Miles Turner going to one of your ops. That's crazy.

Speaker 2:

He went to the biggest op right now. We had our whole situation with Giannis in the free throws, you going to our biggest op right now. I don't blame them, they paid the bread. Rumors is we offer three for $60 to about $20 million a year. Then some rumors it was like three for $70 or something like that, 375 or whatever it is. So we didn't go up into where the Bucs did. The Bucs went up hey, this is what we need. They went like okay, this is what Giannis needs. Okay, we're going to go figure that out. And they did that. Like you said, if Tyrese was healthy, I think he would have got that contract.

Speaker 2:

As far as Indiana, what we do going forward, it's basically a gap year. No offense. We're going to put Nimhard at point guard. We're going to start Mathering. We're going to let Mathering get some more developed. Dress Walker is going to get some minutes, johnny Furphy is going to get more minutes. So when Tyrese comes back, everybody's better. That's basically what it's all about. These Indiana groups it's talking about well, what's in them? We're going to go get. We got to do something. No, we don't we. No, we don't, we just roll with what we get.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, at this point you can't. Is Miles Turner like an all-star? No, but he's a solid starter. Maybe if he had a high year, maybe potential all-star because he's playing the East. You can't replace what he does. A dude that can block shots and hit three and shoot the three, you can't replace that. That's what you need in today's NBA. You can't replace that. That's why I'm mad that the Pacers didn't go, didn't start out with four for a hundred teams. You should have offered him that from the jump, because you can't. There's no replacing that. You can go get another center that can shot block or you can go get another center that can stretch the floor, but another center that to do both, do both. It's him and Porzingis, that's it.

Speaker 1:

And Porzingis. He's been so inconsistent, it's oof.

Speaker 2:

And you take care of your dudes. That's been on your team for this long. He's been on the team for 10 years. He went through trade room after trade room after trade room after trade room. Come in hot. Don't even make it a possibility that somebody else is going to give her up. Don't even make it a possibility that somebody else is going to give her up. Don't even give an opportunity. Hey, 4 for 1 team, 4 for 1 15. What you want to do? Do you really want to leave?

Speaker 1:

Because I guarantee you I guarantee you you want to leave.

Speaker 2:

If you offer him 4 for 1, 0, 5, mount Surner's still a pacer. Let him know that he's getting $100 million, 25, a little more than $25 a year. Miles Hunter, don't leave. It could have been a little bit less. Like I said, a little bit less than Milwaukee, so I'm not. Am I mad that he left? Yes, but I don't blame him if that makes sense. I'm not mad at him. I'm mad at him, but I don't blame him either and when that dollar sign turns you up.

Speaker 2:

Money talk, bro. At the end of the day, it's going to hurt to see him in that Milwaukee uniform. Bro, I ain't even going to hold you.

Speaker 1:

I won't throw him. Like I said that Bucks was hype, though they got them a rim protector that can stretch the floor and we weakened our biggest ops. Oh, and we weakened our biggest ops, oh, they was hype, they was hype, they was hype. But I know you said you were thinking about which replacement could have been. Now I know the guy is nowhere near as good from our perspective as Miles Turner A little bit of a different game as well. But I honestly thought and we're going to talk about him in a second the guy that got bought out from Portland. I thought y'all was going to take him a little far on it, maybe see what's going on. But DeAndre and he ended up going to the Los Angeles Lakers and they got the center that they desperately needed. So two questions for you Q, did you even think that was a possibility for the Pacers? And does DeAndre Aiton to Los Angeles? You know, does it tickle your fancy any?

Speaker 2:

Ayton to the Pacers Been a long story, ruined the situation, because we know we offered him, we helped him get the contract that he got. Now, where he got followed out from because we gave him the qualifying offer I wouldn't have took DeAndre Ayton and the reason being is I remember when their sons was in the finals and he didn't go back in that second half and you're going to send that dude to LeBron in JJ Reddy Because let's not forget JJ Reddy.

Speaker 1:

JJ Reddy, he will bitch.

Speaker 2:

He's worse than LeBron. He's worse than LeBron. For stuff like that. Our brother will lose his mind with Coach DeAndre Ayton Because you heard the story about how, DeAndre Ayton, he didn't go to the game because he said the Rose was slick. Then they sent somebody to pick him up and he still didn't want to come outside. Yeah, I know, bro from the Bahamas, but still come on, bro, DeAndre Ayton, I wouldn't have wanted him in the face. That's why I said roll with what we got, Because that dude nah, I'm fast For the Lakers. Whew, give me JJ Redick in LeBron. Whee.

Speaker 2:

I hope DeAndre Ayton learns a thing or two from LeBron, Because I give LeBron a lot of junk. I talk a lot of junk about LeBron Mainly because I got a friend. Two from LeBron, Because I give LeBron a lot of junk. I talk a lot of junk about LeBron mainly because I got a friend who loves LeBron. He gets on my nerves, so he's making me start to hate LeBron and I used to like LeBron. It's crazy. But I hope he does learn a thing from LeBron. I hope DeAndre Aiden looks Same thing for Luke. Look at LeBron, Look at what he's doing, how he's staying in shape and how he works in the offseason, Because that's the one thing that man do that boy stay in shape. Look at what he's doing. Look at how serious he takes this game and he don't take it for granted. Look at LeBron and do that the stuff you was doing before. Don't do that. Do the opposite. Just do what he does. Tweak it to fit you, but do what LeBron does Deontay and Indiana hell nah, we got snow on the ground.

Speaker 2:

He gonna be right. Nah, lebron ain't gonna be able to do it.

Speaker 1:

Well, since you brought up LeBron, I know we got a couple more things to talk about in the NBA world, but we don't need to spend long on it because neither of us really think it's that much of a possibility. But Brian Windhorse, I listened to him. He said the idea of LeBron getting traded. He doesn't think the door is open, but he does think the door is unlocked. I think it's a possibility and if it is where it is, because the man he's sitting on 53 mil, he is 40. And you would have to trade up a lot to get this man for one year. I understand it's LeBron, but I don't even know if LeBron at 40 is worth just having for one year and giving up the amount you would have to give up. And he has a no trade clause. So even if he can probably manipulate, hey, I ain't going to listen. They only send this little amount Lakers. They're going to want something for it. So what you feeling?

Speaker 2:

So you talked about winning, right, brian Winhorst winning. I listened to Brian Winhorst by faith as soon as it come on, and one thing I learned from Brian Windhorst is the second apron. He called it the damn. I forgot what he called it, it was something with Silver's name, but I'm going to look it up before the pod's over. But that second apron prevents you from putting contracts together to trade for players, and the only person that had cap space was Brooklyn, which I think they done counter-filled not all of, but most of their cap space up. Who's going to trade for LeBron? Because you're going to have to put a bunch of contracts together and you're not allowed to do that because of the April's. It's the first April and the second April. Nobody can trade for LeBron. So how this going to work? Who going to do it? There's no team in position to do it. And in what team? You look at that, you see like, are we a LeBron away from winning it?

Speaker 1:

That's my biggest thing is I don't think there's a lot of teams that feels like they're a LeBron away from winning it. There's too much parity for one.

Speaker 2:

I can't think of one team that's a LeBron away from winning it His best chance to. And then I hear people talking about Dallas and that's the best outcome for him. Dallas only want to do it if it's a bad, because in fact ain't no way for them to give. Only way they're going to come up with $50 million is if they take Trey Connery or Anthony Davis.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and they're not doing that.

Speaker 2:

So but LeBron did do the passive-aggressive. After he signed the contract, he released a statement. Well, rich Powell released a statement after he opted into the contract and it sounded like he wanted to get out of Dodge. He wanted to get out of Dodge. Don't sign the contract.

Speaker 1:

And 53 Mil was talking to him, though.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, money talk for Miles Turner, the Veronica guy. Like no bro, I'm not joking, money talk. I understand why Miles Turner signed the contract. Anybody else even KD, I would have understood why you saying that when you take that $53 million LeBron, hey bro, come on bro. You come on bro, don't do two commercials.

Speaker 1:

You dare go right there, that $52 million.

Speaker 2:

That's probably a little exaggeration, but you get what I'm saying. Lebron can make it up, kd ain't making that up. You right, I'm with you when you're right. Satan's Jail or Adam Silver's Dungeon, that's what it was that's what LeBron wants.

Speaker 1:

It was his idea, man. He wants a parity in the league and he got what he got seven seven different champions in seven years. One team that I keep hearing about that should probably go after LeBron whether it's trade or especially if it's bought is the New York Knicks. Don't think it's happening, but they do have LeBron's former coach, as they did finally hire a coach after the draft. It took them after the draft, after the start of free agency, they finally hired a coach After they tried to talk to Jason Kidd. They tried to talk to this coach and that coach. Apparently, they even called them to South Carolina to see what was up with.

Speaker 1:

Don Staley, love Don Staley. If there is a woman that could coach men in basketball, it probably is Don Staley. Love Don Staley. If there is a woman that could coach men in basketball, it probably is Don Staley. I don't really like college coaches anyways going to the NBA regardless, but that wasn't a job for you, don. I'm sorry. That's a team that wants a proven winner and they got Mike Brown a proven winner. Not sure if he's won a championship as the head coach I know he's got a couple, but he's Coach LeBron, he's Coach Kobe, two-time coach of the year. I want to give us a pat on the back as well, because we called it. We said it was going to be Mike Malone and Mike Brown. That was our first two choices when the job opened up. So give, from our perspective, a pat on the back because we called it. It just took them a little bit longer to get there. We got it 10 seconds. It took them what? Almost six weeks, it seems like. But Mike Brown, the New York Knicks head coach.

Speaker 2:

Can we just mention, because you already said it once, the New York Knicks. They went through the draft, they went through majority of the free agency and they just now got a head coach. You said it early in the pod. Well, the summer league starts tomorrow. How? Y'all just now getting a head coach. They tip off in the California Classic and the other one they tip off tomorrow For the summer leagues. Y'all just now got a head coach. What are we doing? Come on, new York. Y'all joking.

Speaker 1:

We said it, the second y'all heard Tiz, y'all need to hit up Mike Ballone and y'all need to hit up Mike Brown. We said it. It took y'all four weeks to get there, but hey.

Speaker 2:

Salt Lake City. That's up. The Salt Lake City summer league and the California Classic they tip off tomorrow. The New York Knicks just got a head coach and then the Vegas summer league tip off July 10th. How y'all making all these decisions and fitting a roster to a coach that y'all don't even know?

Speaker 1:

y'all got Makes no sense.

Speaker 2:

Make it make sense, dog. Make it make sense, that's all I'm saying.

Speaker 1:

But I'm assuming you like the high at least though.

Speaker 2:

I mean, yeah, the high's cool. I mean because, like we said, get it. Jason Kidd was the rumor. It did happen. It boiled down to Mike Malone and Mike Brown, which one you want?

Speaker 1:

Both of them. Mike Malone got a championship, Mike Brown he's coached top of the line.

Speaker 2:

He's assistant coach on four championships. So they out there. Like you said, he won coach of the year. He ran Lance Sacramento back to the playoffs after years or decades of not being in the playoffs. You had two good options Pick A or B. You waited until summer league starts tomorrow to pick A or B. It don't make no damn sense. New York won the wide A and it's always in a position they need it. Look at what I did.

Speaker 1:

And what's crazy is me and you both know it it's finals or bust for them, especially with the injuries. That's going on in the East. It's finals or bust. Mike Brown, hey, you're a black brother. That's going on in the East. It's finals or bust. Mike Brown, hey, you're a black brother. I hope you got you a nice little contract and I hope, if they do try to fire you, I hope that buyout is nice and healthy.

Speaker 2:

It's not bad. You get fired, you get the full contract, you smooth.

Speaker 1:

All right, I just hope that contract is nice and healthy, mike. But I love Mike. He's a great coach. I say he's Coach LeBron, he's Coach Kobe, he's Coach the Kings Been an assistant, a bunch Excellent coach. I would love for him to get a ring. We'll kind of hate it then We'll have to be with the New York Knicks if he does, because I'm not a big fan of the New York Knicks, but neither here nor there. Shout out to Mike Brown.

Speaker 1:

A couple other quick little thoughts about the NBA free agent. Shout out to D'Angelo Russell. He's going to be the stock gap for the Dallas Mavericks until Kyrie gets healthy. Do your thing in Dallas From Louisville. Got to give him a shout out. Also, I want to give a shout out to my winner so far, and I think that is the Denver Nuggets. They traded Michael Porter Jr for Cam Johnson Same player, but Cam Johnson's a little bit more consistent and a lot less expensive. They brought back Bruce Brown. Looks like they got a backup for Jokic. They ready to come back for their crown. I'm not saying I'm picking them to win it all, but hey, you can see it, I see the vision. Oh no, I like.

Speaker 2:

Atlanta. I think Atlanta had a good because they got four seniors you know what I'm saying and they got off the top of the main contract and they got first-round directors to do it. So yeah, yeah, yeah, I kind of I like Atlanta. Denver the Earthlings to do it. So yeah, yeah, yeah, I kind of I like the Landers.

Speaker 1:

Denver had a good offseason as well. So those are the offseasons. So got a little bit more going on? Probably not much. I mean, the biggest domino that could possibly drop is Giannis if he gets traded, who knows? Outside of that, the big fish is gone. There's a lot of little fishes and they're going to see what's going on in these summer leagues and see what these players looking like. Hopefully somebody gets a gym, we'll see. But let's go ahead and I'll slide over to the w and you know we gotta give a shout out to the indiana fever. They won the in-season tournament, the commissioners cup. I don't care about no damn incident tournament. It's not the main title. It's not the main title, but congratulations y Y'all won something.

Speaker 2:

Why you what the Don't poo-poo.

Speaker 1:

I poo-pooed in when the Lakers won, whatever the NBA.

Speaker 2:

I know I'm saying do that with them, don't do that with us, do that with them, don't do that with us. We want a commissioner cup because the NCAA tournament is only going on for two years. Commissioner Cup has been going on for five. It actually has been here for a while. It's been here for half a decade.

Speaker 1:

So you know it means something. So again, thiever won it. They did it without Kaitlyn Clark. That was a big deal. They do it without her. She's still dealing with the groin injury. But we got to talk about how peers do not like her. The all-star vote came out. I believe she was first top vote for guards with the fans. They say she was third with the media, but she was ninth with her peers. Why don't her peers like her? I mean, I have my thoughts, but I want to hear yours.

Speaker 2:

Because of all the attention she gets. That's why, at least from my perspective, the reason that her peers do not like her in the WNBA is all the attention that she gets. A lot of them don't see it as they look at it, as she getting all this attention. But we doing all this, we play her and we been doing this. It ain't just her. That's how they at least from my perspective, that's how it's perceived that they looking at it as everybody's giving her the attention and not the rest of us. But my thought is that she's bringing eyeballs to the TVs regardless. It's up across the board. Yes, the Indiana people games is the highest. Yes, you know what I'm saying. That's a given, but it's also up across the board.

Speaker 2:

So it's coming off like a lot of hate. There's a lot of hate. Erasure going on is what it feels like. I didn't think it was that bad. I thought it was kind of overplayed in the media. They were talking about her peers not seeing her the same way. I thought it was overrated. I thought it was overrated when Devon came out. I was like, oh damn, they really don't like her. And you know, I ain't saying she number three, I ain't saying she number one or two, but she damn sure ain't.

Speaker 1:

Damn sure, ain't none.

Speaker 1:

Man come on man Damn sure ain't none. Yeah, I mean, I agree, I think it's definitely that. And I think we watched Steph. Her game is similar to Steph Curry. Steph is so popular because he, you know, revolutionized the game with the three-point deep, three-point shots. And the game with the three-point deep, three-point shots and the thing with the three-point shots, any and everybody can do it, no matter your height, how tall, how short, how big, how small, anybody can shoot a deep three. And it's exciting. It's kind of like watching a home run against his. You get to watch it in the sky. So I think that's one of the parts of it of why she's so popular. I think that's one of the parts of it of why she's so popular. But it's tough because she's the one that revolutionized the popularity, it seems like because of the women that came before her.

Speaker 1:

Candace Parker, first person. Because I'm like Candace Parker was better than Kayla Clark. That's college space. She was just that woman. She's not getting, she didn't do this for the game like Kayla Clark. Let's call it space. She was just that woman. She's not getting, she didn't. She didn't do this for the game. Like like Kayla Clark is, I think, what Kenneth Parker didn't have. She didn't have a rival like Kayla Clark, even though Angel Reese and Kayla Clark I think I find it funny because they they compared to Bird and Magic. But Angel Reese and Kayla Clark, they rarely guard each other, they're in two different positions.

Speaker 1:

But they guard each other, though that's the thing. They actually guarded each other and they was competitive when they guarded each other. Angel Reese can't guard Kayla Clark out there in the perimeter and vice versa, kayla Clark can't guard Angel Reese in the post, so I find that a little odd. But back to a Candace Parker. She didn't have a rival, but she was much better than Clinton Clark my more, she was a dog. I think she was better than Clinton Clark, but again, she didn't have a rival. But Clinton Clark, for some reason she's the woman to put the WMA game on the map. Like I said, if I was Angel Reese, if I was not Angel Reese, if I was Candice Park and Ma Moore, I would be a little salty. If I was those two, like damn, what does she got that? I don't got dude.

Speaker 2:

What about Lisa Leslie? I think Lisa Leslie has something to do with it as well, because she was like the first. She's the first one I remember dunking. But you're right, like as far as the new era Candice it went from. Lisa Leslie had this draft field to the Candice Park, was here in the Maya Morrison but we got to give Candice Parker credit got to, got to.

Speaker 2:

Obviously they probably are hating, but at the end of the day they got to, they're gonna at least when this new TV deal hit they gonna be like, hey, thank God for Clayton, new TV deal hit we'll see if we, if that new new TV deal gonna hit but I wonder if that CBA gonna hit cause these, these women ain't been happy about the first of the contract negotiation with the first of the contract negotiation, with the new lead, the new CBA might not be bigger than the Rays, as I thought it was going to be, it's going to be a Rays but yeah, they thought it was going to be bigger than it was, and I don't.

Speaker 1:

It ain't looking like it but speaking of getting Rays, they are getting multiple teams and we talked about it, but it it for sure set in stone. They will be getting the Detroit, a team in Detroit, a team in Cleveland and a team in Philadelphia. Apparently, the team Detroit had a WNBA team, I believe it was like the Detroit Shock, the Shock yep. So they will be coming back. I can see it just giving the Shock name back out, I mean, unless the guy they just want to disassociate from it. But I don't see why they would. Cleveland and Philadelphia. That brings the total to 18 teams, because it would be what 26 or 27, 28, and 29 is when those teams will be coming. So you got to imagine probably two more teams is coming, but your thoughts on Detroit, philadelphia, detroit, cleveland, philadelphia being the next three expansion teams coming after the Toronto tempo.

Speaker 2:

We knew. Well, we knew about Cleveland. You know what I'm saying. Philly I ain't going to lie. Well, even Detroit wasn't as surprising, because they used to have the WBA team. The Philly one kind of threw me. I ain't even heard their name mentioned at all, you know. You heard about Houston. You heard about Tennessee. Like we talked about city in Louisville, our mayor is basically begging. You know what I'm saying. When you heard about the O-Cities, I ain't heard nothing about Philly. You didn't. Philly got one.

Speaker 2:

I know Houston, I was reading an article. Houston is still trying to get one, even though after these three teams, so if they go up to 22,. Houston's trying to put their bid Like, hey, come on down here. But I'm excited. I'm excited that they got more teams because, like you said, it's a bunch of great women basketball players and they're still on the couch. But I also do think they need to expand their rosters and I think they need to do that. I think they need to do that next year. It needs to be more than 12 women on the roster. They should have 14. I know some people say 15, but at least 14. Yeah, that's my thoughts. Like the NBA, you have 12, 13 dudes that suit up. You have one or two. It's basically like injury reserve. I think the NBA needs that because you see the injuries. Then you got to sign somebody basically to attend that contract.

Speaker 1:

A lot of times a player gets injured, they end up getting cut because, hey, we ain't got the space for you. Sorry, that's what happened to TJ McConnell's sister. A lot of times a player gets injured, they end up getting cut because, hey, we ain't got the space for you.

Speaker 2:

Sorry, yeah, that's what happened to TJ McConnell's sister, sorry, so yeah, no, I think they need to expand the roster and I think they should do that next year go up to 14 to 15 players on each roster. I am excited that they are getting more teams. We've been saying it for the past year that they needed more teams. I think we mentioned 20 being a good number for them to get to and that's where they're going to be at. So, yeah, I think it's a good thing. I ain't going to lie, bro, I know I already said it, but Philly surprised me. I ain't heard nothing about Philly. It feel like Philly came out of left field.

Speaker 2:

So obviously we said Detroit Shock, you got off the top of your head a name that could be for the Cleveland team or a name for the Philadelphia team. They used to have a team. It's called the Rockets.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I heard that. Yeah, so Cleveland used to have a team Philly. I heard the Liberty Bales have something to do with Liberty.

Speaker 1:

It's tough to say Liberty when you got the other one, new York Liberty.

Speaker 2:

So I heard something to do with the Liberty Bell, but to me it just don't work because of New York Liberty. I don't know, I really do not know with Philly.

Speaker 1:

I don't know. I did hear Bells the Philadelphia Bells Heard some funny ones, but I don't know. Man, someone said 76 hers, but that was just a joke. I said I don't know, but I can see it probably just being Bills, philadelphia Bills. Even they don't feel that creative though. No, it don't. But hey, they got a couple years. They better get to it. They didn't do a name-the-team contest or something like they used to do back in the day when these professional teams yeah, no, they better do something.

Speaker 1:

So that'll do it for another episode of From Our Perspective. I'm your boy, deion. Thank you, please like, please subscribe. Leave a comment. Tell us your thoughts on who made the best moves in the NBA Before I go ahead and pass it over to Captain Hayden.

Speaker 1:

Aaron Rodgers, we ain't talked about you because we kind of knew, we kind of knew you was going there Like there was a reason why they didn't draft the quarterback into Super Lake. But, aaron Rodgers, man, don't mess up my time on the street. The man. Don't mess up Mike Thomas' streak. The man. Don't mess it up. Apparently he's on the hot seat. Don't mess it up, don't mess up his streak. You got Jalen Ramsey. Now you got the tight end from Miami.

Speaker 1:

Still, y'all need to pay TJ Watt just saying because he's y'all defense. He's actually y'all team, not just y'all defense. He's actually y'all team, not just y'all defense. But hey, roger, just don't mess up that man's streak. That's all I got to say. Again, please like, please subscribe. Leave a comment. Hit the link in the bio. Fourth of July is today, but hey, there's other holidays, you can have some. From our perspective, it's just saying, hey, summer's not over yet. You need a shirt over what you had. You need a shirt Just saying That'll do it. I'm your boy, dr. Captain Hader, go ahead and take us home.

Speaker 2:

I'm trying to figure out real quick why the WNBA don't have a game on July 4th. Why you got games on the 3rd, you got games on the 5th. Why you taking the holiday off, get your bread. The NBA don't let Christmas go, even though the NFL trying to get it. The NFL don't let Thanksgiving go. Nba don't let MLK Day go. It's just your hey, nobody watching baseball. It's your holiday. Fight, fight, bad Fight the MLB. They losing their contract with ESPN anyway. So next year, who knows if they're going to have to see televised games of the last four WNBA? Fight back, fight back, take some. But you're already Not about to show Boy. Mr Bell, aka. Can't say your name Before this. Pine Might not With you tomorrow. We catch y'all later.
