Welcome, welcome, welcome back to another episode of From My Perspective. I'm your boy Dion coming to you. I like to thank you guys once again for joining us. Uh, while y'all at it, please like, please subscribe, leave a comment, even though it's early, still leave a comment for your boys. Once again, I'm your boy Dion. I'm joined by the man, the myth legend himself, Captain Hater. Q, how you doing today?
SPEAKER_01:Man, what it do, what it is. You're right, number five. It's your boy, Mr. Bell. AK AK say your name up on the spot. Right now, but you the ma.
SPEAKER_00:Hello, Dion. I'm doing good. I'm doing much better than Kathy Engelbert. I think I say you say her last name, the WNBA Commission. I'm doing much better than her, man, because look, Miss Kaya, she she she uh she lit the house on fire and just watched it burn. So if you guys are not up to date, the WNBA has their finals coming up. It's uh the Phoenix Mercury versus the Aces. Uh the team that me and Q thought was just gonna walk to the finals and probably win it, didn't mostly because their best player got hurt. But she left a statement before the finals came. We'll get to the finals in a little bit, but it's a lot. It was like what five-minute video? I'm sure you watched over. It was like a five-minute video. She had it written down, her statement written down. Pretty much poo-pooing over the WMA commissioner, Miss Kathy, basically saying she's a terrible leader. Uh, saying that she said things about Caitlin Clark, such as she should be grateful that the WMBA is giving her this platform to make money when Miss Kalya mentioned that she's not making that much money when she is quote unquote the money for the WMB. Just a bunch of stuff. It'll take us all day to dig deep into all of it. But you you watched the video. What was your reaction? Because before I watched it, I saw the tweets, I know how how ugly it got. Then I watched it's like, if she was any other player, she would be out the league. But she's she may not be uh as well known as a WN player, she may not be a Caitlin Clark or Angel Reese or the MVP AJ Wilson, but she's a tier two in terms of popularity. But she's tier one when it comes to talent on the court. She's she's the tier one level player. This is like if what Steph Curry poo-pooed on Adam Silver? Something to that nature.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I would say uh Steph, or it may be a Kawhi. Yeah, yeah, Kawhi. Yeah, Kawhi did it. So, yeah. Let me tell you though. Let me start her. Yeah, she came to the press conference with the paper in hand. Let's start her. Let's start right there. She had written out or typed out what she wanted to say. She came, she came with a she came with a purpose, and she came on a mission. And I feel like the purpose and the mission was to let that commission know you're not doing your job, and you taking us and you taking us for granted. And you better fix it before you be in real trouble with this league. So, yeah, when she sat down with the paper, I said, oh. Okay. Like I said, oh, and I sat back, like, oh, I watched the video, I listened, I looked at all the tweets, and everybody was talking. Of course, all the other WNBA players came out and supported her in her decision. So on Twitter, I'm gonna go to the Kaylin Clark point real quick. On Twitter, uh, one of the people said the commissioner has a point. Without this league in America, those sponsors and stuff wouldn't be continuing to support Kayla Clark because you wouldn't be playing basketball on seat if there wasn't a league in America. And so while I get to that point, what are we talking about? The WNBA got pushed ahead by Kayla Clark. We can't act like that's not true. Not only Kayla Clark, Angel Reese, too, because it's let's be real, man, this country built on race, race wars. So Caitlin Clark was the big star, but it also helped that she had a black woman to go against. I mean, I'm just calling a spade a spade. Well, look at it helped the helped the NBA in the 80s. That's right. It did the same exact thing. It did the same thing for the NBA. They built, they helped build their brand. That's what the WNBA did. It's it and we just call it a spade a spade. That's just reality of what it is. This country is built off race. People like those race wars. And they don't people get involved in those race wars not knowing that they really get involved in the race wars, they're just picking us out and look like that. Just come up. So them two helped push this lead forward. What you mean you doing them a favor? No, they doing you a favor. Caleb Clark also did you favors when she didn't go playing on rival. She didn't go shooting the NBA three-point contest because she wanted to make the W NBA three-point contest feel special. Caitlin Clark is doing everything the right way. The commissioner obviously is not. Now, the commissioner, when she made those comments, I'm pretty sure she didn't think this was gonna get out to the media. That was one of them. I'm saying this to you because we're going through CBA negotiations and we said it behind closed doors. She didn't believe that those comments was going to come out. Miss Carlier, everything she said in that four uh four to five minute uh post-game press conference. Every uh well, not it was an extra interview.
SPEAKER_00:Exit interview.
SPEAKER_01:Everything she said in that exit interview, she didn't lie. She told the truth. That's everything all the WNBA players have been saying all season. Ever since the All-Star, ever since the All-Star game, when they wore the shirts and said, pay us what you owe us. She didn't lie, and she did it the right way because now you got SVP talking about it. You got Stephen A. Smith talking about it, you got all of these big entities and I can't say the word, but these big personalities in sports talking about the WNBA now. I feel like it was a win. Now, if you're the commissioner, you might want to get out because the the finals is about to store. You might want to do a press conference at yo.
SPEAKER_00:She she uh the commissioner Kathy Ingelberg she put a statement out. I'll read it verbatim right here. I have the utmost respect for Nafisha Koller and for all the players in the WNBA. Together we have all worked tirelessly to transform this league. My focus remained on ensuring a bright future for the players in the WNBA, including collaborating on how we continue to elevate the game. I am disheartened by how Nafisha characterized our conversation and the league leadership, but even when our perspective differ, my commitment to the players and to this work will not wait. So I just want to point out one, she didn't deny anything the lady said. Two, uh, I wonder what PR person wrote that. Because that sounds like something a PR person wrote to get her out. After the interview, after the exit interview, I was like, there's no way she can still be commissioned after all this, all these allegations. There's no way. Maybe she's gonna try to hopefully get swept under the rug and their finals does start tomorrow. But this is right now a blackout to the WNBA. People ain't talking about how this is gonna be the first ever seven-game series for the NBA Finals. They're talking about what the hell's up with their leadership over there. So we'll see if the if the play on the court can maybe mass some of this ugliness is in the WNBA right now, but it's not looking good. It's the worst time. You you want this to happen in offseason, not during your finals.
SPEAKER_01:Right. You don't want this right, you don't want this to kick off right before your finals. But yeah, forget a statement. You need to get up there and answer questions. Yeah, a statement don't do it in this situation. Because she called she called you out. I can't think of no so the NFL players, when they used to get fined, they would call out the commissioner. Yeah, but it was never, it wasn't like this. I you know what I mean. I've never seen, especially not in the public setting. Like you heard about uh Bryce Young, not Bryce Young, uh, infielder for the Phillies. When the commissioner came in there talking about um basically a salary count.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, Bryce Harper, Bryce Harris.
SPEAKER_01:Bryce Harper, thank you. He said get the F out of my locker room. But that was in the locker room, you feel what I'm saying? He didn't go up after after a game and start for giving dude the riot at. You know what I'm saying? Green dude is right. This was in an exit interview in a public setting. I don't I can't think of a time where I've ever seen something like this. So you gotta the commissioner has the WNVA commissioner has to do the same. But at this point, you already lost the battle. So you're gonna end up, if you lose in this battle, the public reception battle, you're gonna end up losing the war. So the money you try not to pay them, you're gonna end up paying them.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:But you yeah, we said me and you said this what two months ago? You gotta pay this one. Yeah. You can't afford, you can't afford for a lockout right now.
SPEAKER_00:Right, not when your not when your product is at its hottest. And honestly, it's not even at its hottest no more. The the the the the product is cooled off now. That's partly because of the injuries. Caitlin Clark mainly since she hasn't played, the product has cooled down a little bit. But even since it's cooled down a little bit, it's still higher than it was pre-Kaitlin Clark.
SPEAKER_01:I was gonna say the numbers are still up. Yeah. No, Caitlin Clark and no Caitlin Clark. Like you said, with her playing, the numbers is higher, but the numbers are still up across the board from last year, from last year. And last year was their highest marks. So it would be a horrible time for a Lego. WNBA commissioner might want to, you know.
SPEAKER_00:You got that other league unrivaled. Now, I I doubt that if Hosea Kindle to the WNBA will be able to, because it's just three-on-three basketball, but you got you got competition a little bit. You got a little bit of competition out there, not crazy competition, but these ladies got other things that they can't do. And you don't want them to you know do that. So, but we'll we we will see. I I just don't see how she can still be commissioned out there. I'm sure she has a ball. I know the NBA kind of like helps run the WNBA. I don't know what they're gonna do. I don't know. I just think she can stick around. Like, like when we talk about what the Angel Reese issue that happened early in the season, not early, well, not early left, towards the end of the season. I feel like there's two outcomes. You get a whole new team around Angel Reese or Angel Reese gets trading. I don't see how she's still the commissioner next season.
SPEAKER_01:Well, you know rumors that she might step down. It came out that that's false. But it's it's if everything, if the CBA gets uh finalized and everybody comes off happy, then I think she could. Like you said, it kind of you gotta go under the radar. But if it's a if it gets uglier than what it is now, then yeah, I think it would be hard for her to come back.
SPEAKER_00:But we will find out, but let's talk about the play on the court. Game one starts out tomorrow at 8 p.m. on ESPN. It's the Phoenix Mercury versus the Las Vegas Aces. The Aces is going for another championship with the reigning MVP, Ajaan Wilson. Obviously, the Mercury beat the team that me and you thought was going to win it all, the Minnesota Lynx. But the Aces is the favorite. I guess I'm gonna ask you. You think the Mercury has a chance to beat the Aces in a seven-game series?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, for sure. Like I said, AT been balling out. She was an MVP candidate. She uh, for people that don't watch WMA, for me, her comp right now in the NBA would be Joker. She's getting the rebound, she's getting the assist, she's scoring, she's doing everything with the ball. She she reminds me of Joker. Uh with a little with better defense. Because she plays better defense than Joker. Um, I would give the Mercury a chance. I learned that last sentence versus the last round. You know, we we said the Lynx was gonna win. We got that wrong. Yeah, but in our defense, look at the Lynx all year. Of course you would pick them to go back to the finals and win it this year, especially after you seen Liberty got put out. We couldn't we couldn't predict Carly was gonna get hurt. We we couldn't predict that. Uh speaking of Carly getting hurt, man. Did you see her head coach when she got hurt? Oh yeah, she was she was fine. Uh I thought she was gonna throw a clipboard at one in referees. Like we didn't talk about it, but the referees not great.
SPEAKER_00:The referee is not great at all.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, she talked about it in the in her uh the ex interview, but yeah, the refereeing in the WNBA is inconsistent. I I say I tell my family, you watch the WNBA, a foul at five minutes into the game is not the same foul that's five minutes left in the game, yeah, or vice versa. The refereeing is inconsistent in the WNBA, but uh back to the play on the court. I guess I give Mercury a chance. Uh, I do want to take a minute to shout out my Indiana Fever who fought after Aaliyah Boston fouled out and Kelsey Mitchell went uh she basically collapsed on the court. Yeah, and um, I ain't gonna lie, man. I was sitting there watching that game. Aaliyah went, Kelsey went down. I said, damn, it's over. We got man, we got it, but we kept fighting. And I was like, okay, okay. Then Aaliyah Boston found out. I said, Oh, yeah, man, they got us, man. You know what I'm saying? Next year, though. You feel me? Next year. Then we went to overtime. I said, Oh, okay, we can do this. I seen the post on Facebook talking about the aces had four Olympians. The Indiana people was on like they four string point guard. And we we we took it to overtime. But yeah, shout out to Indiana people. But yeah, I'm still gonna roll with the aces because you're gonna pick against the MVP.
SPEAKER_00:Nah.
SPEAKER_01:And then they got a squad. They got Lloyd, they got Jackie Young, they got uh Chelsea Gray, they got they got a squad. The aces got a squad, not saying the Mercury Dole, but the Aces got a squad. And they got uh Ebbens, you know, shout out, play for U of L women coming off the bench. They got a team.
SPEAKER_00:So uh uh the finals MVP house is gonna looks like it. It's if you look at uh no betting guys on the insert betting app here, you it's Asia Wilson and Alyssa, Alyssa Thomas. It's it's them two, and the next closest is uh I think Satoa or and Cooper. That that's it. So it's it's it's gonna be the Asia Wilson and Thomas show. We'll see which one steps up. But I'm excited. I mean, I like I said last week, I hope it goes to seven. We'll see. But for it to be the first time uh WMA Finals is a set uh is a seven-game series. What battle for it to be than to go to seven games? But it is hoping. Well, I I'm gonna go what I think is gonna happen. I'm gonna go four two aces.
SPEAKER_01:Ooh. I'm gonna go four three aces.
SPEAKER_00:All right.
SPEAKER_01:Why don't you be the Mercury for the war? That's gonna be crazy.
SPEAKER_00:Upset, calling. I mean, it wouldn't be a crazy upset, but it would be an upset. Uh, so let's go ahead and talk about another sport that's in their playoff stage, or they call it postseason. The MLB, man. Uh no, they got their first rounds. Their first rounds is best of three. Those games are getting played. Uh, unfortunately, the Cincinnati Reds, they ran into the buzzalls of the Los Angeles Dodgers, so they will not be having a home playoff game. I was looking at the tickets. They weren't too crazy. They didn't get crazy until they got to the World Series, which obviously they not going. But how you feeling? You you gonna start locking in a little bit of baseball, or are you just gonna wait till the World Series like most fans do?
SPEAKER_01:Well, Cincinnati was in it. So I locked into those playoff games. We got our back. Once the BTA is what they're supposed to be saying now? BTA. Hey, that's what happened. I can't be like, damn. Yeah, I I think I blinked. It went from five to one to ten or something. I'm like, but damn, what the hell? No, um I I watched that, then I called I watched the uh the Yankees and the uh the Red Sox. Yeah. I watched I was able to watch that game as well. The uh the first two games, I need a chance to watch the uh game three is currently going on as we speak. Uh man, uh Rhodes Chapman used to play for Cincinnati. He's like 37-38 now.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, still throwing heat.
SPEAKER_01:Man, bases was loaded, bottom of the knife, no house. And I'm thinking they're gonna they're gonna, you know, go to the bullpen. But Boston didn't go to the bullpen. It let him sit out there and he closed it out with strikeouts in a pop-up, pop out. I am like, damn, man, I ain't even know Ron Shelby still had it in him. Like, yeah, but he did. But no, um, I'm I'm gonna I'm more locked in this year than I have been previous years. But I think it's because Cincinnati made the playoffs. So I'm actually I actually started watching, so I'm going to continue to watch.
SPEAKER_00:Yep. I think so. Uh so far, right now, obviously not all the games have been finalized, but so far, the second round is gonna be the Dodgers versus the Phillies. Uh Milwaukee, the Milwaukee uh is waiting for uh yeah, the Bruce is waiting for the Padres or the Cubs. I think the Cubs will be the Cubs. Yeah, Cubs won yesterday or winning today. Then you got the Doronto Rays waiting for the Red Sox or the Yankees. The Red Sox, I mean the Yankees are currently winning in the game three, and the Detroit Tigers are going against the Seattle Mariners in the next round. Uh just watching, and I've I've watched a good amount, probably more baseball than I've watched ever this season. No, I ended up buying like you know, a season pack to watch a lot of the Cincinnati Reds games, went to a couple games this season. I don't see who beats the Dodgers. No, I think the the Mariners they have probably could be Cal, uh the home run leader, the catcher is probably the could be the MVP. For the um him or Judge is gonna be the MVP on that side, so we'll see. But I just don't see who can beat the Dodgers. I mean, I I watched, I didn't watch a lot, but I watched more than I have ever before. I just don't see who can beat the Dodgers. Man, they too deep, they got so many good players.
SPEAKER_01:Man, Dion, if I'm gonna be honest with you though, I think the Phillies could beat them in the next round. Okay. I think I don't know if I'm gonna pick them, but I do, man, I think Phillies and Dodgers, what's the uh A is the NLCS? Uh I think this should have been the NLCS instead of um what it is, the divisional series right now.
SPEAKER_00:NLDS right, yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, yeah, I I think it should have been the the the series before getting to the finals, the CS, uh, the championship series. Because I think the I think the Phillies is talented. I think the Philly's the Philly's the Phillies is as talented as the Dodgers, but it's not the names. The Dodgers has the names that everybody knows, but the Phillies aren't as talented as well. Um the AL side. Man, um no, dog. I kind of shout out to Big Teddy, shout out to Teddy, you know what I'm saying? Uh man, the Yankees are gonna be all right.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah. I mean, uh they I'm sure they gave the fans a scary losing that game one to Boston, but looking like they roll into a game three victory. I don't I don't see them having much problems with Tampa Bay. And then the Targets, they was they was probably one of the better teams most of the year. They fell off a little bit. But the Mariners, they got probably the best, the hottest player in the league right now. So I I'm interested to see what the Mariners and if Cal can roll it over from the regular season to the postseason, but it'll probably be the Yankees on the AL side.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I'm I don't want to discredit. See, you know, when I start discrediting people, yeah, you know, because the Blue Jays was the number one overall on that side. Yeah, I don't won't discredit the Blue Jays, but I guess it's because I looked at the Yankees the most recent. The way they looked against Boston, even though, like you said, they lost game one, they still look good. So did Boston. So yeah, I'm I'm gonna go with the Yankees. Um, I'm gonna go with the Yankees and I'm gonna say Phillies. Yeah, but we got some time. We got some time. So I I might, you know, might check.
SPEAKER_00:But yeah, I know I'm gonna check in here and there. Definitely gonna check in for the World Series. I always check in for the World Series. I don't know, the atmosphere for the World Series is just different, no matter where it's at. You just feel the intensity, you can just feel the big moment waiting to happen. Last year with the Dodgers and the Yankees, it was incredible. So I'm expecting another great World Series, whoever we get. It just won't be the Reds, unfortunately. That would have been nice, but you know, it is what it is. But let's talk about some nice things that happened as sports fandom. Uh Louisville, they gave us a scare last week. They was real shaky, but they pulled out a comeback victory against Pittsburgh. There was two different teams in the first half and the second half. How did you feel about them beating Pittsburgh?
SPEAKER_01:Man, I still don't trust another boss. That's just how I feel. That was my takeaway from the game. Uh besides the running backs, we need them to be healthy.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah. They hurt. I guess they hurt, but damn.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, yeah, both um. They both they both hurt. They play, they try to play through it, but you can see that they both not their typical selves. Um, it's crazy. The biggest story was the ball boy on the side of the field.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah. It became a household name.
SPEAKER_01:Bro became a household name. He had her doing interviews with um uh big cat for um yeah, Boston. Yeah. Yeah, and I'm like, I didn't know. I didn't see it during the game, but that became the biggest story out of the game was the ballboard. But uh I'm excited. I'm gonna be at the little game this week when we play when we take when we take on Virginia. Uh when uh Virginia did just beat Florida State, it was dope.
SPEAKER_00:Uh credible game Friday. I was hoping I was low-key hoping Florida State win, but I'm not upset that they lost. Incredible game, incredible scene as they rushed the field. They got fined for that. I know people saying that they should have been rushing the field. Please don't. I I like it. It's a cut, it's just college football. Just keep fighting these people. That's all. I like it.
SPEAKER_01:Man, watching that game, I was because I was watching the Virginia, Florida State game, and I was looking at the crowd, getting antsy and all that, and I was like, damn, I remember being in that stadium because I had been to the Virginia Stadium before. I was like, man, they weren't that excited when they beat us, but it was a blowout. Yeah, they had they had put BTA versus us, but yeah, nah, um Melamas is the problem.
SPEAKER_00:So, but yeah, it we'll find out, man. This is gonna be a big Virginia versus Louisville is gonna be here in Louisville. Big game of ranked opponent has is coming in Louisville. I will say ranked opponents coming to Louisville don't do very good. I mean, you know, history, history, wake force came in here. Uh and it just looked early for Sam Hartman. Uh, he threw like multiple picks, and then he came back in there with Notre Dame the following year as they was ranked. Didn't do very good. So I will say ranked opponents don't do very good in LN Stadium for some reason, but I ain't mad about it. But we'll see what happens at 3:30. Last week was a doozy. No, you you were right about your Oregon versus Penn State pick. Hey, it's a whiteout. Just because a whiteout don't mean they can't win. Oregon came in there and won. It's Penn State. Uh yeah, you so you were right about that one. Uh shockingly, Alabama pretty much dominated Georgia most of the game. Georgia ended up making a little bit of a comeback, but Alabama dominated Georgia in in Georgia. So I don't I don't know, man. Kirby Smart, you're looking a little shaky right now.
SPEAKER_01:And I got that one wrong, boy. Just loud and wrong again.
SPEAKER_00:Because I knew Georgia was gonna win. Yeah, but I I swore, I was like, Alabama ain't the same Alabama was wrong. Was definitely wrong than that one.
SPEAKER_01:Is it the Alabama? Is it Georgia or is it Alabama? What did you take away from that game?
SPEAKER_00:I just thought Alabama was so dominant. Like I didn't, I just didn't expect them to look that dominant. I think I I expected Georgia to be the one that looked dominant, Alabama to be shaky. Like if the game played out like the opposite was Georgia dominated most of it, Alabama tried to make a little comeback. That's what I expected. But it was it was the exact opposite. Alabama was the one dominating, and Georgia tried to make a little comeback. But we'll see. Uh LSU ended up losing the old miss. Indiana barely escaped Iowa. Uh I don't know.
SPEAKER_01:That was which is crazy because they just blew out Illinois the week before. But I would go play defense. That's what they they might not put up no boys, but I was gonna play some defense.
SPEAKER_00:Speaking of Illinois, they beat USC, which no, I called that one because you know USC don't do good when they travel to the East Coast. But you know, so no, nothing too crazy. Colorado lost to BYU, though. I feel like I don't know. I should mention that on the Coach Prime, they're struggling. I sound like they're struggling over there. So uh this week, you know, we we were talking about it a little bit earlier. College game day is at Vanderbilt is going to be at Alabama as they go up against Vanderbilt. It's a rematch from last year. Vanderbilt beat them last year. Vanderbilt actually looks good. We talked about it last week. They not just a GBA booster no more. They got a solid team. They're going for an SEC championship, but we'll see. So that's what college game day is at. We talked, we knew the Florida State Miami game was going to happen. It's not as big as it could have been because Florida State lost, but it's still a big game, still a rival game, still an ACC game. Uh you know, Texas goes up against Florida. We'll see if Arsh Many can get it, get his get back, trying to get his groove. Outside of that, I mean that I mean that's that's that's the big stuff. Um, obviously, we talked about the Heisman, John Matierick. He's probably he's not gonna win it no more because he's out for a couple weeks. My Heisman picked, he threw a pick to lose the game against uh Oregon. Yo, Heisman picked Greg Nusmeyer, doesn't look right, man. He just don't look right. Look hurt, people claiming he's hurt. So we was wrong. So it's gonna be a Heisman pick contender that we was not thinking about. No, you're definitely right. You're definitely right about that.
SPEAKER_01:Um, as far as this week's slate of games, do you think Vanderbank will go beat Alabama?
SPEAKER_00:I think they're capable. I wouldn't bet money on it. Uh, if you look at You know, I'm looking at you know insert sports book here. Alabama's like a 10 and a half point favorite. Now, if I was a better man, which I am, I would be very interested and very intrigued to take Vanderbilt to cover, but I still think Alabama will win the game.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, that's what I think. Look, let me stop being so forceful in who I think gonna win. I think Alabama's gonna win, but I I do think Vanderbilt is a good team. I think this is gonna be, I think it's might come down to the fourth quarter. No, like you said, I don't do the betting, but I would I would predict Vanderbilt to not lose them more than 10 points. Yeah, so like you said, I think I would bet on that. Um can we talk about Penn State real quick?
SPEAKER_00:Go ahead. They got they they got a they got a bi-week, aka UCLA, but let's go ahead and talk about it.
SPEAKER_01:Can we talk about Penn State real quick? Who really thought they was gonna win the big one?
SPEAKER_00:So I did say they was gonna, I had a faith in them. Well, you know, when I sat down and did, you know, like I said, I'm a betting man and I did my little parlay. I looked at it, I was like, I can't, I can't put money on them to win, so I put money on Oregon to win. No, some other stuff messed up the parlay, but I got that, I got that leg right. I looked at it and I was like, I can I said that on the podcast, but I can't put money on it, so I gotta go to Oregon.
SPEAKER_01:Who can't put money on PN State? Why you can why can't you put money on PN State? Because they can't win the big one. The game, let me not, let me take it back. They could win big games, but if you they more than likely gonna lose the big games, yeah. That's what they do, and I don't know, and I think P State should be okay with that. They they make it they think they Ohio State for real. That's what they want to be, and it's cool. You won't get there once at a at a 10-year span, y'all should y'all should be there once or twice. Y'all not y'all shouldn't expect to be there every year. Yeah, that I mean, I want to see, I can't wait to this Ohio State Penn State game later on in the year. I can't wait. Because I feel like Ohio State, like you said, I wasn't gonna be so uh voiceful in my predictions. Ohio State's gonna beat them by three touchdowns.
SPEAKER_00:Ooh. Hey, Penn State looked all. I mean the defense kept him in, but they offense looked awful the first three quarters.
SPEAKER_01:Well, but well, both teams offense looks. Yeah, yeah. Like you must get Penn State defense that credit, like you said, give them that credit. Both teams offense look not even shaky, they look bad. Yeah, it for the first two two, three quarters. But yeah, man, I'm saying on them. I I stay gonna win by three touchdowns. Yeah, it might I've been looking next week it might I might bring it down to two. But they they go with two to three touchdowns.
SPEAKER_00:I don't know. I mean, I I I'm jokingly saying y'all got a bad week because y'all got UCLA, because UCLA is horrible, but don't lose to UCLA. What just don't y'all lose y'all lose to UCLA, it's done for y'all's season, might as well pack it up.
SPEAKER_01:I might as well say y'all might as well go wrap it up. Um, my bad, real one more thing. Miami and Florida State, Miami, Florida State. Damn, I think this is uh I college game day should have gone through because I think this is both.
SPEAKER_00:I I thought they were great game, but you know they gotta go to that you know, SEC, whatever they got a contract with both of them.
SPEAKER_01:Like, you ain't gotta you don't have to go to the SEC. I think Florida State, Miami is gonna be a great game. Them two schools back going strong like they used to, yeah, man. It it I I'm going, like I said, I'm going to the little game. I'm gonna rush home so I can be in front of my TV to watch this game.
SPEAKER_00:Question Do you think Florida State losing to Virginia maybe changed college game day decision?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, yeah, most definitely. But yeah, yeah, yeah, most definitely. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Man, man, man. But I'm gonna be excited. I'm gonna be watching uh, you know, I gotta work in the morning, but I'm gonna be I'll be done by before the Louisville game starts. So I will be front and center for the Louisville game and for the all the other games as well. But we gotta we gotta talk about some uh some NFL football, man. Um first off, I I know it just obviously there was a tie 40 40 40 tie tie shouldn't happen, but I you know we'll talk about how they should change that on another podcast because that's gonna take too long. But the thing I want to talk about, and I'm sure you found pretty good joy in it. Should um the biggest start uh planning a cancune trip? Should they? Yeah, I thought they already was because they look god awful without Joe, bro. They started out two and oh, they lost their last two.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, you said shoot that. I thought they already started. I thought when Joe went down, they said, oh shit, well, we got 16 more weeks of this. All right, cool, cool, cool. I thought they was good. Yeah, you know they ain't gonna win nothing.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah. And I'm upset because that was that was my my Heisman pick looks awful, and my MV pick didn't make it past week two. Yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_01:I I had a let me tell you, I shared a post, right? It said, spotted in the church in Cincinnati. Good luck, Reds, Lord help the bingles. This is at a church. This is at a church. They said, Lord help the I had a I had a uh I had a Bengals fan get him a comment saying, Focus on your team. They're 0-4, last in the division, embarrassing. We had the number one overall pick for a reason. We knew we was gonna be bad. Listen, it's okay for us to be bad. Y'all paid all this money to two hours. He was and they can't even catch the ball because the quarterback ain't there.
SPEAKER_00:And gave the uh defensive in a raise, too.
SPEAKER_01:Gave him a gave him a raise, and he ain't raised the quarterback off his feet yet. What are we talking about? Yeah, what we talking about. Hey, don't worry about us. We gonna be okay.
SPEAKER_00:Well, speaking about your um Tennessee Titans, Ken Ward has some strong words in the postgame. Basically saying the team's horrible. Now I know what he said.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, they what he said. He said, We're gonna cuss on the spot throughout.
SPEAKER_00:So I ain't gonna say he basically some vergal words and saying that they was not very good. You know, as I listen to get up, you know, I listened to Nightcap, uh Shannon Sharp and Chad Ocho, they basically say that's something you say with the boys. You don't say that in the postgame, which I do agree. You gotta be a little bit more diplomatic. Hey, we're not great right now, but we're gonna work on getting better. But he just kept it a buck.
SPEAKER_01:He said we cheeks. That's what he said. We cheeks, Dion. Like we said earlier with Kalga when she went to that uh the uh X interview, she just laid it out and told the truth. Did he not tell the truth? He told the 100% truth as a as a Tennessee Titans fan. Dion, where's the lie? I mean he where's the lie? He told the truth. He he said what we all he said what everybody thinks. And it's and I feel like he in the comments, in the in the uh in that interview, uh, he's he he gave a little bit of a diplomat. He said we was cheeks, and then he went back to the diplomatic helps. It's okay. That's what Anthony Elbers be doing. I heard uh yeah, Anthony Elbers be keeping the book. Hey, I like the cowboy kept the book. So yeah, we sorry about that.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, I'm sorry, but uh I am glad the cowboys did not embarrass me on Sunday night. It was a great actually a great game. Dak Prescott looked like an MVP candidate. They actually already seen we last year's Cincinnati Bengals. Great offense with an MVP caliber quarterback. Defense can't stop a nose, but we got the number one uh offense in I think in yards, and we have the number 32 defense in terms of yards given up. So we just golly, we need a new defense. Uh um Coach Evil Floose, even though I'm not a very big fan of you right now. If you need somebody, you know, getting some deep getting some deep thirds, I can do what they doing. I can give up 20-yard bombs just like that. And all I take is a couple thousand. You don't even gotta pay me that much. I'm just saying, because Lord, we garbage. But look, can we talk about digs real quick? Yeah, he don't look good. Didn't digs get benched? I don't know what's wrong with it. I think, you know, I think mentally he's checked out because his one of his best friends is was traded. I think maybe he came back a little too early because you know he is coming off an injury, he just don't look right. He just don't look right. I don't know, man.
SPEAKER_01:But his friend got traded and he he probably came back too early.
SPEAKER_00:That's what I'm going with.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. You don't you won't um say you won't say that he might not be as good as everybody thought he was?
SPEAKER_00:Or his injury probably caused him not to be as good as everybody because he he's had back-to-back injuries. The man okay.
SPEAKER_01:Hey, the cowboy fan need to talk about. Okay, that's cool. Let's go get hey, cake for your dog. You know what I'm saying? K for your dog, cave for your starting cornerback.
SPEAKER_00:Let's move on to this week. Uh actually, before we move on to this week, we gotta talk about the game of the week, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens. Uh, Kansas City look like uh regular Kansas City. So Ravens, the issue is starting to mount up. Uh my super one of my Super Bowl pick does not look so hot. Lamar Jackson is hurt now. The defense can't stop nothing. So I the Steelers, man. Mike Tollin might do it again.
SPEAKER_01:Aaron Rodgers is about to win the division because the Raven has got so many bagging injuries. Between the Ravens having injuries, like I said, Lamar's heard, uh, Derek Henry fumbling. The defense is hurt. They got a new defensive coordinator. Probably probably needed a little more seasoning before he got the position. Yeah, I'm gonna say it like hey, probably need a little more seasoning before he got the position. I'm glad the brother got it, but they just letting everybody run back. You know what I mean? Um a touchdown? Go ahead. And Lamar over like, man, my hamstring ain't as good, but I'll try. And it ain't really working. Um the Kansas City, Kansas City needed a get right game. Who better to play than the Ravens?
SPEAKER_00:They got back right. They look good, they look like that team that you expect to beat everybody in the playoffs again. We'll see if no see if they can sustain this for the rest of the season, but they got right. They got right. So shout out to them. Uh before we move on officially to next week, um, prayers to Tyreek Hill. That was a nasty injury. We will see if he can come back the same, but he with 32-33. Well, someone that's reliant on his athleticism, aka his speed, and dislocated his knee. They tore an ACL. People saying it might be career ending. Yeah, and honestly, it might be considering his age. So prayers up to him. Uh, we'll see. Uh also one more thing. Uh, basketball season. They've had their media days coming through. They tip off October 21st. How excited are you?
SPEAKER_01:Oh. Extremely, you know, that's my sport.
unknown:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. October's a great month because you'll get MM MLB playoffs, you'll get college football, you're gonna get the NFL, you're gonna get NBA tip-off, and you also get WNBA Finals. And if you if you in the hockey, hockey's there too. Because hockey starts next week.
SPEAKER_02:Yep.
SPEAKER_01:Which I said I was gonna pick a team. I'm gonna put it in the hat. Next week, we're gonna do a live on her. I'm gonna put all the teams in the hat. Shake it up, that's gonna be my team.
SPEAKER_00:Right. We'll see. But uh, so but let's get to these NFL pickups. Well, hold on, let me do these QB tiers. Oh, uh, QB. We got some QB tiers. Q did them last year. Let's see what he got this.
SPEAKER_01:All right, the first the first set of tiers is the first tier is this is really our starting quarterback. And these is these people are Geno Smith, Michael Penix Jr., Kyler Murray, Two, Rice Young, Joe Flacco, even though he's no longer gonna be the starting quarterback.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, Dylan Gamer, you know.
SPEAKER_01:I put N Board here, but it's real his is more so this is really our team. The people around him. It's not really him. Number six, why are we here? Caleb Williams, Aaron Rodgers, CJ Stroud, Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, and Spencer Rattler.
SPEAKER_00:Well, pause on that Spencer Rowler thing. I was talking to somebody. You're you're 0-4. Kellen Moore, I'm talking to you. First of all, you're already 0-4. I said at the beginning, we know Spencer Riley, he's been a starting quarterback. Not for long. It's only a small symphonise. Trust me, I understand. Maybe you wanted to give him a little bit more of a simple size. But you have a 25-year-old rookie quarterback. I'll see him with the little volume a little bias. I feel like you have to throw that. Usually I'm the guy like let the rookie sit a little bit, get him a little season, let them know, hell, work for work for Aaron Rodgers, work for Patrick Mahomes, work for Joy Love. Let the rookie sit for a little bit. Maybe you throw him into the woods, you let you let uh Jackson Dart sit for a little bit, gave him a couple weeks, now he ready. I think you need to throw Tyler Chuck to the Wolves. He's 25. It's your first this is your first year at Keller Moy. It's not like it's just your third year and you're on the hot seat. This is your first year. And let's call it what it is. You you're not gonna get you, you white, bro. You're not gonna get fired your first season. You're not you're not the guy in New York. I hope, I hope he don't get fired after his first season. He's on 4-2. He does not get fired. Uh but you gotta throw, you gotta throw Ty Shuck to the Wolves. If he's bad, you get a top pick, get you another quarterback. If he's good, you got you a good quarterback. You gotta throw Ty Shuck to the Wolves. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_01:So I agree with you, but I feel like it's a reason why they ain't throwing to the Wolves. And I don't know. That might be saying a lot about Tyler Shook.
SPEAKER_00:He looked okay in the preseason, but you know, it's the preseason, so we don't know.
SPEAKER_01:This next turn is decent but not good. Drake May, Jordan Love, Bo Nicks, Sam Darnold.
SPEAKER_00:I think uh you probably should move Aaron Hurst into that one. Okay.
SPEAKER_01:Uh one more. Oh, yeah, Jalen. I say Jalen Hurts, then I did say Jalen Hurts.
SPEAKER_00:Okay, yeah. I I will move Aaron Rodgers into that tier. It's not even because he's not good, he's just old. He's do I don't think Pittsburgh's still a fan, I know some still a fan. I don't think they're saying why we here, because they they look pretty decent with Aaron Rodgers back here. So I think they're more so So if you do that, who you moving there to replace Aaron Rodgers?
SPEAKER_01:You said uh Drake May, Jordan Love, Sam Darnold, Bo Nicks, Jalen Hurts.
SPEAKER_00:Bo Nicks is probably the worst one there.
SPEAKER_01:So all right, the next one. Next turn, keep on pushing. Matthew Matthew Stafford, Baker Mayfield, Justin Herbert, and I put 49ers quarterbacks because both party and Mac Jones both been playing good.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:So that's why I called it keep on pushing. Matthew Stafford's a little upper age.
SPEAKER_00:Hey, that's that's that Kyle Shannon offense.
SPEAKER_01:I was gonna say the 49ers is injured, but they kept on pushing. Baker Mayfield, hey, people thought people started doubting him when he was in Cleveland. He kept on pushing, look where he at. And then Justin Herbert, you know. Hell, I was questioning him at the beginning of the year, like, is this gonna be the year?
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Um row three. I mean, we put up numbers. Jerry Goff, Jack Prescott, Lamar Jackson.
SPEAKER_00:They put up numbers. I agree. Number two.
SPEAKER_01:I'm surprised I'm here. Patrick Mahomes and Daniel Jones. Because how the hell is Daniel Jones playing like a top three quarterback in the league right now? Not only is he surprised I'm there, he's there, I'm surprised he's there.
SPEAKER_00:Everybody's surprised. They gave the man a nickname. They called him Indiana Jones.
SPEAKER_01:Indian War. Josh Allen.
SPEAKER_00:Yep.
SPEAKER_01:So yeah, but no, that that is the QB tours. We'll do it again in week eight. All right, let's get to these NFL pickles. I got 11 wins, Deion got nine. I had a solid week last week. Only thing I got wrong was Tennessee.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, that's just because the fan was talking.
SPEAKER_01:And yeah, but I might not pick them this week. All right, game one. Dion, Cowboys versus Jets. Who you got?
SPEAKER_00:I got the Cowboys. We better not lose that game, man. I'm sorry, Aaron Glenn. I like you as a coach. We gotta get make get you the 0 and 5.
SPEAKER_01:I ain't gonna lie. Part of me won't go to the Cowboys. I mean the Jets, but I'm gonna go to the Cowboys. Because I want him to get his win. I uh Titans versus Cardinals.
SPEAKER_00:Uh I got the Cardinals, man. I don't that quarter Vikings quarterback situation is shaky. We'll see. Carson Wentz. No, no, Titans. Oh, Titans? Yeah. Oh, I'm still going to Cardinals then.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, don't don't don't don't.
SPEAKER_00:I wrote with y'all. I rolled with y'all like three weeks in a row. I have faith in Kim. I don't yeah, yeah. I did have faith.
SPEAKER_01:Uh I mean, we all know who we're going with. Uh Titans. I mean, you know what I'm saying? It is what it's. Uh Vikings versus Browns. They playing uh overseas.
SPEAKER_00:Uh Dylan Gabriel is the starting quarterback. I don't think he's ready for uh prime time like that. So I got the Vikings.
SPEAKER_01:Hey, uh, what do you make to do the whole Shador situation? You know, the some say he was responding to Rex Ryan.
SPEAKER_00:What'd you make of that? It was it was silly. Like I don't I would have responded in a different way. You have uh that's a little childish. I know he's still a he's a rookie. That's a little childish. I would have responded in a different way, but I'm not mad at it. I just if I was advising, all right, cool, silly. You probably shouldn't have done that, though. You should have just responded in a different way.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I don't. All right, uh, Patriots versus Bills, Sunday night.
SPEAKER_00:Can I go against the Bills right now with Josh Allen playing like he's playing? Nope.
SPEAKER_01:Alright, Bills, it is. Uh, I'm gonna go I'm gonna go with the Bills too, because what did I just say? He's the best quarterback in the NFL right now. Well, I'm not picking against the I'm not I'm not ready to say the Patriots is here yet. All right, uh Monday night, Chiefs versus Jaguars. Dion, who yet? Jaguars look good last week.
SPEAKER_00:Shh, they look good, but I I I was on that bandwagon two and a half, two years ago. I didn't jump off. I'm not hopping back on that. And the Chiefs look like they are a much better team. Um, we might even have a conversation about Travis Hunter, man. He's uh he played like nine snaps on defense the first game, the first uh first half, didn't play in the second half. He look looks like they cutting the snaps now, man. Some some ain't right in practice where they're not comfortable with putting him out there on defense more often. And on offense, he's not top five pick, looking like a top five pick. So they're gonna have to they're gonna have to figure something out. He's a talented player. Maybe they put too much on his plate, they're gonna have to figure something out.
SPEAKER_01:I was just gonna say, yeah, they should have let him play defense first and then sprinkle him in on offense. Yeah, you don't get a you don't get a corner like that too often. But if you try to cram everything down his throat at once, he's gonna fail. It's simple as that.
SPEAKER_00:We'll see. But yeah, he don't look hot. He don't look like a top five pick. So I I I hope I hope they figure it out. But I'm gonna go Chiefs. Yeah, Chiefs look good. Hey, Chiefs, they looking like scary, but that'll do it for this week's NFL Pick'ems. Thank you guys for joining us.
