Welcome, welcome, welcome back to another episode of From My Perspective. I'm your boy Dion coming back to you. Thanks again for listening to us. Please like, please subscribe, leave a comment. Again, thank you again for joining us for another episode of From My Perspective. I'm joined by the man in the Memphis Legend himself, Captain Hader. How are you doing on this fine day, Q?
SPEAKER_00:I want to do what it is. You're another best show. I'm good. What's going on, DM? I'm doing good.
SPEAKER_01:Hey, basketball season is here. And the script writers started us off with a bang. First game, we got a double overtime. First day we got a double overtime thriller. Then we got Luca dropping 40. We got talk about that. We're going to talk a little bit more about that man Wimby, but I think I think he might have that crown. We're going to have to talk a little bit more about him. But we also got some little disturbing news in the NBA script world. Terry Rosier, he got arrested for illegal gambling, but that's nothing new. We've kind of known this. He's been in the eyes of the sports baiting gambler world for a little bit. FBI has been looking at him for a while. But the surprising one is Chauncey Bills got got. They arrested him this morning after he coached the game last night. Then when the first research happened, obviously the Terry Rosier thing came out a little bit. But like 30, 45 minutes after they said they got Chauncey Bills. I'm thinking, ain't no way Chauncey, not big shot. Bill Ups, ain't no way he been on games. But it turns out he's just he's just rigging poker games with the mafia. So what what's your reaction? We're gonna get we're gonna get to the on-play stuff in a little bit, but we gotta talk about the big news of the day. Chauncey Billups and Terry Rosier getting arrested.
SPEAKER_00:Can you can you can you say the Dion, uh not Dion, can you say the Chauncey Bill ups line one more time where he's involved in? He's rigging rigging poker games. No, what's the other part? What you mean? Rigging poker with who?
SPEAKER_01:With the mafia, with the mafia, with the mafia.
SPEAKER_00:Bro, what are we doing? Who's rigging? He's rigging poker games with the mafia. No, man, like I told you before the five, man. I was riding and I was at work, and my homeboy said, Hey, they got turned, but they also got Chauncey. And I'm like, Chauncey who? He said, Man Billups. No, not no, can't be, nah. That ain't even nah. We ain't talking about the same person. Come find out that it is Chauncey Bills. No, man. That that that one surprised me. Like you said, Terry Roser, it didn't surprise me. But Chauncey Billups actually surprised me.
SPEAKER_01:Yep.
SPEAKER_00:I really don't know what to do with that.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, well, so it means I'm I'm kind of glad it's not because sports band, I feel like even if you are alleged fixing games, allegedly, to the point where the FEI puts cuffs on you, you're done for. I think you're done for. So I would be surprised if Terry plays another game of professional basketball. I would be truly surprised. Now, obviously, depending on what happens with Chauncey Bills, he is probably facing jail time. And let's face it, guys, the thing about um the thing what what Chauncey's doing is not necessarily, but the reason why he's getting arrested, and the main reason why the FEI was on him and on the mafia about this is that stuff is tax-free. And you know one thing about the U.S. government, you know one thing about Uncle Sam. They want they cut in with everything you do. So that's the major reason why Chauncey's in trouble, because obviously he's getting some tax-free money. So unless he gets jail time, he may be able to coach again. I I don't know. But you how you you think he'll be able to coach again? You think he'll survive this? No, I think he's done this now.
SPEAKER_00:How do you come back from this? Like, especially because of what it's connected to, because it's connected to the sports betting and all that. Like when Gilbrook got arrested, it was kind of like it felt like it was like a worn-off situation, you know what I mean? So it was kind of like, all right, man, whatever. This is connected to the sports betting. Well, I don't necessarily, I don't think Chauncey can coach again. From my perspective, I don't think he can. But this sports betting, it's going to continu it's just gonna continue to be a story. Because you see, I don't know if you saw that they the NCAA said that the college athletes could bet on pro sports.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Once you open once you open Pandora's box, you can't close Pandora's box.
SPEAKER_01:Some of them guys, they're gonna be in college, somebody some second round pick. Oh man, I'm doing good in it. They're gonna get to the league and they're gonna just keep doing it. Realize you can't. So once you get to the league, you might as well go delete your app, bro. Might as well delete your app. But you're gonna be too addicted to it, buddy. I know that's some people, I know Josh Hart, he's been uh vocal. He bets on NFL games, but obviously he's an NBA player. He can bet on NFL games, he doesn't play though. So I I it's a slippery slope. They opened Pandora's box with the sports betting a couple years ago. It's gotten bigger and bigger. Obviously, ESP has their own sports betting app. Almost every podcast in America, except for us, you know. Talk to you, Finn. I'll talk to you all the sports books out there. We we would like we would like to, you know, sponsor you guys. We you know, I like the sports bet. Q doesn't, but we'll we'll talk about that in a little bit. But anyway, we'll take a sponsor. But every podcast in America has is sponsored by some type of sports betting app. It's everywhere, so you can't hide from it, but they're making a lot of money from it.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, but it's crazy to think like sports betting, you see all you see it when you watch sports now, right? You see all the commercials for the different websites and the different companies and whatever the case may be. But I remember when I was young, I was my son's age. You could this was frowned upon. It was illegal. You had you had to go to the mafia. My grandfather had a bookie at the bar. Whoever who who knows who he was connected to. You know what I mean? Like, that's what you had to do. You had to you had to have a bookie. You couldn't just pull out your phone, which managed you, we really didn't have cell phones was a thing, but not like they are now. You can just pull out your phone, this this worldwide web phone that you get and do stuff like this. Yeah, you also couldn't date people on that.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, that's a that's another story. That's another story. But so, no, that's the off-the-court issue. Let's talk about the on-the-court. Well, we got one more off-the-court thing I want to mention before we well, it's technically on the on-the-court thing, but before we get to the play, uh, you know, they announced that they're gonna be bringing back the Larry O'Brien trophy for the NBA Finals. Thank you for finally listening to the fans. It didn't even look like the NBA Finals last year. Y'all had the virtual stuff that looked god-awful on TV. Thank you for listening to us. You know, they bring the Larry. I wish they would have brought it back last season because could have had the Larry B on the paces uh full court.
SPEAKER_00:No, though. Uh it would have been nice to have it last year. They should have never stopped doing it. It it like you said, it gives the NBA finals a different feel. You know what I mean? It gives it, it gives it a big game feel. And I think that's I think that's neat, especially in the seven-game series. Like the Super Bowl is a one-off. Everybody pay attention to it. It's not a series. Uh, that logo gives it a different feel than your conference finals or your everyday game. It should have a different feeling to it. So I think it I think it was a good idea. Whoever decided, whoever decided to bring it back, whoever got it in their ears, you know what I mean? Like it was good. Final list to the fans. It's kind of crazy.
SPEAKER_01:Finalists to the fans. So obviously, we didn't really do it. We were obviously one game into the season, basically, but we are going to talk about the off-season award, the the season in the season awards. And you know, we might be cheating a little bit because we are one or two games in. But that should help us out. I think specifically, this first award we're gonna talk about because we are one game in might change our perspective on it a lot, and that's the NBA rookie of the year. Now, according to Insert Sports Book here, Cooper Flag is still the favorite at minus 165. But number two is VJ Edge Comb. And that man, he he said he ain't going back to that generator life. He dropped 40 his first night. He ain't going back to that generator life. So, I mean, looking at it and looking how bad Cooper Flag played, he's not a point guard. They got him playing the point guard position. I know they can't wait to Kyrie get back. But I think VJ take it from Cooper Flag. They probably already thought it was gonna go to Cooper's Flag's crib. It's not, I think it's going to VJ.
SPEAKER_00:So I'm going to stick with Cooper Flag winning it because of the simple fact is if they have the same season or the same impact, or even if Cooper Flag's statistical is a little worse than VJ, Cooper's gonna get it because everybody thought it was going to Cooper anyway. So it's already in their head that Cooper Flag is gonna be the one to get it. And I he should, you're right, Cooper Flag should not be playing point guard. They should have they need D'Angelo Russell needs to start.
SPEAKER_01:Yep.
SPEAKER_00:I mean, I get it, they need it for their bench, but D'Angelo Russell needs he needs to store. Or go find another point guard. Um, which don't be wrong. That's not easy to do. I'm sure they tried. You know what I mean? I'm sure they tried. There's a couple teams out there that needs point guards. Yes, yes, a couple. But uh I'm gonna go with Cooper Flag still, BJ, but I was how on BJ before. I've been talking about BJ since last year, since when he was at Baylor. Like, I I think I think BJ, the way we see Ant Elwers, for in three years, we're gonna see B, we're gonna look at BJ the same way.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_00:I think BJ's gonna be that dude, which is crazy how Philly looked up.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Philly lugged up into him.
SPEAKER_01:And then it's also crazy. Joel he don't look the same. He ain't moving the same. I didn't watch all the game. I watched, you know, a little bit of it. I was mostly focused on the San Antonio game, but Joel don't look, he don't look right. I mean, I'm sure he's somewhat healthy. He he didn't he did a lot of rehabbing this year. He don't look right. And I got a feeling there's about to be a change of guard in Philadelphia. They they're gonna hand the keys over to you know Tyrese Maxie and VJ. Even Paul, even Paul George is out right now. So I wouldn't be surprised if Joel and B andor Paul George is traded by the trade deadline.
SPEAKER_00:I don't think so. And the reason I don't think so is because they're contracts.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Nobody you can't Paul George is damn near impossible to trade because in fact, the amount of money he makes and the the uh what you're gonna get from him, it's not gonna equal. It doesn't it doesn't match. He gets paid, he gets paid like a superstar, but he's gonna be playing like a role player when he gets back. Especially especially now because simple fact, like you said, it at this point is it's Maxie's team and VJ's coming second. I think Drew L I ain't seeing he's done. But he ain't got no more than two years left.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:High level at least. Oh man, I I would take it back. Jewell and B got like three years left. He don't he hasn't looked the same. Even last year going into the season, he talked about, he went playing playing all playing 70 games is unrealistic for him. At this point, playing 45 is the goal. They play 82.
SPEAKER_01:Just try to get him healthy to the playoffs. That's the goal.
SPEAKER_00:And then as you know what I'm saying, that's a what if you get there. So and then with Paul George, I don't think the problem with Paul George is you're we forget that Paul George had that injury. I think it's probably about 19 years ago at this point. He had it while he was a pacer, right? With the Pacers, yeah. So a lot of you know that was a hard injury to come back from, which he did and he balled out. But you gotta add on all of the mileage on top of that injury, and then you factor in the age as well. They depend on him to be the wing, to be the wing defender. He ain't gonna, it's gonna be like a clay situation. Well, he ain't we ain't the clay that you used to get in the projects you used to get ain't gonna be the ones you get now.
SPEAKER_01:No, you might you might get a possession or two of that old Paul George, but you ain't gonna get Ginny for more than a couple games.
SPEAKER_00:So especially like I said last year, he missed damn the whole year.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, so but yeah, that we'll see. Uh sixes will be looking looking at them all year. But let's go ahead and slide to the sixth men of the year. And looking at Insert Sportsbook here, it looks like it's a three-man race between DeAndre Hunter, Nas Reed, and Josh Hart. Does any of those three names fit your fancy, or do you like somebody else's sixth men of the year?
SPEAKER_00:The problem with Josh Hart is I feel like he's gonna start too much. At some point. Maybe Mike Brown doesn't start Josh Hart, but I feel like at some point Josh Hart might end up starting. I feel like it's Nas Reed.
SPEAKER_01:I agree with that one. I like Nasreed. I think DeAndre Hunter has a chance, but we will see how the Cavs play. We'll talk about the Cavs in a little bit, but yeah, we'll see more about that. Um next award, the NBA most improved right now in the betting favorite, is um man Thompson for the Houston Rockets. I don't know how I feel about that because he looked, he didn't look great in the first game. That's because he's playing. I think he's another team. They need a point guard bad. And he got hurt too. Yeah, and he got and he it was it was a it was just a little hamstring, and I think it was to the point like, hey, it's game one. We ain't trying to work you too bad. But I he's not he shouldn't be playing the primary ball handler. He I I was watching that game. Obviously, it was the first game of the season. I watched it in the first in the first five minutes of that game. I was like, the Rocks need a point guard. It looked like a struggle getting the offense flowing. Now, obviously, they got some scores. They got Singoon, they got KD, they can put the ball in the hole, but it looked so much more difficult than it should. Because they uh they don't have a point guard. And obviously, OKC they're a great defensive team, so that probably would play the part in it, but it looked like a struggle for the Houston Rockets to bring that ball up court and they had it up top the key. But I I don't know. But after Amon Thompson is Josh Giddy and the guy Benedict Matherin playing for the most improved so you know I mean not to sound like a homer another, but I think the best choice is Benedict Matheran.
SPEAKER_00:I would here's my problem with Thompson, right? We saw this last year, so is he really gonna can you be the most improved when everybody thought you was a stud last year? Yeah. I think Benedict Mac Benedict Matherin, he also might be, because I don't I don't uh I don't know. I missed the like the starting lineup of the game tonight. I don't know if he started or not, but Benedict also might be in a conversation for six men of the year.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:But most improved, he's gonna have, if he does get, if he does get to store, he's gonna be able to have the ball in his hand more, and it's gonna be looked at him to be that second score, that second scoring option next to Pascal Siakam. So he's gonna be able to put in his numbers, is going to have a big leap.
SPEAKER_01:I'm I I agree with you. And I'm I'm gonna add another pacer guy, Andrew Nimhardt. I think I mean just the fact that Tyrese is out for the whole season, there's gonna be some people step up. Now, obviously, we're not expecting much from the Pacers, but I do expect him to still make the playoffs. And if they make the playoffs, that means some people stepped up, like Andrew Nimhart and Benedict Macron. We know C we know what Cakum is. He he's a dog, he's that guy. So I I I think I'm gonna probably ride with Nimhardt. Especially I liked what I saw in the NBA Finals, so I'm gonna ride with him.
SPEAKER_00:That was a I ain't gonna lie. I ain't think I thought about Benedict Macron. I didn't think about Nim Hart, but Nimmart is a good one. I ain't gonna lie, that is a good one.
SPEAKER_01:Next award, let's make this one quick. Uh, NBA defensive player of the year. Uh, give me a reason why Victor will not win it.
SPEAKER_00:Um injuries, he might get hurt.
unknown:Okay.
SPEAKER_00:That's the only only reason he don't get it is if he don't play the minimum games.
SPEAKER_01:Gotcha.
SPEAKER_00:You're right. So if he had to pick somebody other than him, I will go with Mowgli to repeat. Okay. Or Ludor. But that being said, when we play the minimal games, when we gonna win to just play a year.
SPEAKER_01:You know, uh, I agree. Uh second, and I also want to add, they uh they really do need to split up the defensive player of the year, front court and backcourt. I know there was talks about that, they need to do that. Uh now, uh next award, I need your help a little bit with this one. I this is this is a new award. I'm still not sure how it works, but Jalen Brunson won it last year. The NBA Clutch Player of the Year award. How do you even win this award? Like, what do you have to do? You just have to be like do some things in big time moments, hit a couple game-winning shots.
SPEAKER_00:How does this work? You score, I think it's they based it off how many like points you shots you made in clutch time, so like in overtime or fourth quarter of close games. So it had to be of close close games. So it's gonna be a team a lot of close games. Yeah, or yeah, or teams are gonna get their best. I was so my first two thoughts is Jalen Williams, J Dub. Is that the right one? There's two of them on the team. One that just got paid. It was the big payday. Or Donovan Mitchell. Because of simple fact, they their team, their teams is gonna get their best shot from everybody that they play. In Cleveland, I don't think they're gonna like run and have versus a lot of teams, but I also think they're gonna have a higher seed in the East. So Donovan Mitchell's gonna be the one with the ball in his hands. And the reason I say Jalen Williams is because of simple fact, I feel like teams is gonna attempt to get the ball out of SGA's hands. Yeah, he's gonna have to make the big shots. He he's gonna be the one to make the plays and make the shots and stuff like that. Um I would think that's two people.
SPEAKER_01:I don't disagree. Uh uh, according to the Insert Sportsbook here, uh Anthony Edwards is the favorite to get the award. Um, like I said, I wasn't like I knew about it. I still wasn't sure like how do you get the award, but okay, we we will see.
SPEAKER_00:So it makes sense too, because they're gonna be a middle of the pack Western Carpenter team.
SPEAKER_01:So yeah. So uh let's go to the Big Boy Award, the NBA regular season MVP. Now, obviously, Shay Gilgest Alexander won it last year. He is the favorite to repeat in Insert Sports Book here. I wish I would have seen this before yesterday's game. But Victor is number two in Insert Sports Book here. Do you think Victor can win it?
SPEAKER_00:The question with that is, because he'll put up the stats because he's an alien, right? Big Big Big's an alien, right? When he's an alien. But the question, how good is the Spurs gonna be? Because is he gonna really be MVP candidate if he's a six seed? The reason Russell Westbrook got it is because he's average triple double. Yeah. And I don't think, well, he might get 10.
SPEAKER_01:He might, he might put some alien out. People was already talking about he's gonna hit him a couple, he's gonna hit him, get him at least one quadruple double in the season.
SPEAKER_00:But I don't know if the Spurs is gonna be I don't know if Spurs is gonna be a top four seed in the West. So that's why I wouldn't give it to I wouldn't put Wimby as my favorite. I don't even think I would put him as number two. I'm I think I'm gonna go Joker. And I know that's kind of like hopeful Elsa, but he's listed his third. And I don't guess we and Giannis. I can't put Giannis to happen because simple fact I don't know if Giannis is gonna wanna be in Milwaukee by the end of the year. I don't either.
SPEAKER_01:So yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and give you the top four is obviously SGA Victor, Joker, and Luca. Those are they're pretty close together in the eyes, and then there is a big gap with Dennis Giannis as fifth. Do you think Luca?
SPEAKER_00:Okay. Well, I know we have to get into it, but how good do you think the Lakers are actually going to be?
SPEAKER_01:I don't think they'll be that good. I mean, I think they're gonna be basically what they was last year. A team fighting to get not be in the play-in. They might be good enough to not be in the play-in, but I don't expect them to get past the depending on the draw, I don't get expect them to get past the second round.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, but last year they was they was the third seed. You didn't look at them as the third seed.
SPEAKER_01:But the thing about the West though, you from three to seven is like two and a half games difference. So you you you lose two games you in the play-in, you go on a three-game winning streak, you you're number three seed. It's probably gonna be like that again in the West. You're right. You're right. So I I don't know. I don't I mean there we talked about it last week. I don't expect the Lakers to win the finals. They're they're now I'm not putting money on them to go to the finals. But I'll I I don't know.
SPEAKER_00:I was about to say four, but it's three teams for sure above the Lakers.
SPEAKER_01:And let's so let's go ahead and get to that right now. The NBA Western Conference Finals, obviously, OKC is the favorite. I'm not gonna tell you how many teams is above the Lakers, but it's more than four. Can you give me the teams that you I think that is above technically there is four, but that they have the same odds as one of the other teams. So who are the five teams in front of the well Oklahoma City found though, the Devil uh Devil Nuggets, Houston Rockies and 14 Golden State? No go to state. They are just under the Lakers. They are uh seven.
SPEAKER_00:Okay. If it's not one if it's not gonna state, it's either Clippers or Minnesota.
SPEAKER_01:Both of those teams. So it's well in the Minnesota's tie, but Clippers has got a little bit of a slight favorite. Minnesota, they have the same odds to get out the Western conference finals.
SPEAKER_00:Again, we doing this after some teams that already played one game, right? But well hell, Oklahoma City's about to play two because they play the Pacers right now, but Utah was smacking the Clippers up the other day.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:I don't know.
SPEAKER_01:I wasn't expecting that. And what's even crazier, looking at the eyes, Utah has the worst eyes to come out the West. They are the worst. No, they was putting belt to it.
SPEAKER_00:You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01:But obviously, it's OKC in the in Denver. Like me and Q said last episode, it's those two teams that we think are gonna win it all. Everybody else, we don't know. If you totally if you put a gun to our head, we'll say it's either OKC at Denver. But let's go ahead and move to the who knows what's gonna happen East. Who you who you got? Who you think is the well, probably easy, but who you think the Sports Books is riding with? Cleveland. Okay. Cleveland, yeah. Cleveland, it's Cleveland, in order, Cleveland, Knicks, Magic, Hawks, Pistons, Celtics, 76ers, Bucks, then your pacers. That's the order.
SPEAKER_00:Which makes sense. Let's be real. In the West, it's Denver or Oklahoma City, Donna. Houston, if they found out if they there was rumors they were gonna trade for CJ McCollum. If the if the Houston Rockets serve for CJ McCollum and actually they have a point guard, I can put them on this, I will put them on the same level as the other two teams because they have everything. But without that point guard, I don't see Houston actually being there. The East, imagine, I don't think neither one of these teams is going to win it all, but I think they're gonna be the team that's in the finals versus those teams. Is Cleveland or New York?
SPEAKER_01:Because you don't believe in Orlando? You don't think Orlando can make the surprising run?
SPEAKER_00:Pablo and Franz Wagner, they play the same position. They're basically the same player.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:At one point, Jalen, people say Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum weren't gonna be able to work together. Yeah, they can't, because both of them can do different things. They can fit different pieces on the floor, they could fit on the floor together. Pablo and Wagner, they literally the same player. They do the same stuff. So I think it's gonna be a little harder for Orlando. Desmond Bang, if he can knock down the threes, he can space the floor for them too. But I don't, I don't Orlando, I'm going to have to see it. I believe it when I see it with them. Detroit Business, I still think they should be on. And I don't think I don't think they got other players around. They got a bunch of young dudes around Cade. I don't know if they own the level of K. I don't think he got his running mate yet. Nope, he does not. I agree with you on that one. They might develop into that, but currently I don't feel like he got his running mate to make a finals run. And then Giannis, like, we already got to make Giannis. Is he even gonna be in Milwaukee? We don't know. Nope.
SPEAKER_01:We have no idea. But NBA season is here, and honestly, man, I'm I was a little skeptical with how they they had got, you know, you know, Peacock on one night, ESP in one night, prom another night. But because of my, you know, for some reason I pay for all of these streaming services. I'm gonna be able to watch a lot of NBA games this season. And, you know, I'm a little excited about it. So I'm pretty excited. Sure, you're gonna watch all your Pacers games.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, I'm gonna watch some Pacers games. I got all these streaming services. I don't really pay for man, but you know what I'm saying? It's good to have a big sister, you know what I mean? But um, big sisters, but now I'm gonna be able to watch I'm gonna be able to watch all the games. I I wish inside the NBA was on more than what they're going to be on. Yeah. I really wish TNT was able to at least keep one night so we can get inside the NBA. But it is what it is.
SPEAKER_01:It is. Like I said, it is what it is. But one season starting another sports season is coming to their conclusion. And when the World Series starts tomorrow, it's the Los Angeles Dodgers versus Toronto Blue Jays. They're calling it the rematch, they're calling it the Drake Kendrick Lamar rematch. That's what they've been calling it.
SPEAKER_00:All right, yeah. We reached.
SPEAKER_01:That's what they call it. But um, obviously the Dodgers have dominated. Shohei Otani probably had the greatest game a major league baseball player has ever had. He struck out 10 and he went three for three with three home runs to close out the series. I've never seen nothing like it. And I'm starting to think his contract he's getting is not, he's not getting paid enough. That man is not getting paid enough. But he has a chance to go back to back for two rings, but this time he's got the Blue Jays to go through it. Do you think the Blue Jays have a chance in hell in beating this loaded Dodgers team?
SPEAKER_00:Well, I think they got a chance. No. But I feel bad singing that because we've we've doubted a bunch of teams. In this MLB playoff run, and we have been we had the E Crow. But the way the Dodgers looked since the playoffs began, it's it looks unfair. They got a bunch of Hall of Famers running out right now. And like you said. Showhead, not only did he have one of the one of, if not the greatest game in any any sports, like one game sample, right? One game performance rather. He got he probably is the greatest baseball player ever. Which is like I seen Barry Bonds pre-storm. Like he was, he looked different. And he got um he got on the stuff supposedly. He was extra different. Allegedly. And then he put up some no he put up some home run totals, you know what I'm saying? Then they always talk about Bay Rules and the stuff that Bay Rules did, which is, you know, whatever the case may be. But Shohe I, you know, I'm I'm not, I watch baseball. I watched baseball more a couple years ago, but I know a I I know some baseball. I might not be the smartest person in the world when it comes to baseball. So if somebody's can tell me I'm wrong in the comments, that's cool. But I feel like Showhead is probably the greatest player of all time. And I'll and it's not far fetched to say. So yeah, no, I'm going with the Dodgers. I'm going with the Dodgers at six.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I'm going with the Dodgers too. Uh, but we need to talk a little bit more about baseball. I've you know read some reports. We also we talked about it a little bit that uh uh Manfred, the MLB commissioner, you know, talks that he wants a salary cap. There's been, I read an article basically saying the commissioner is going to use the fact if the Dodgers win back to back, they're gonna use that as MO to try to get a salary cap. Now, I don't know if he's gonna be successful, but I do know people are saying there may be a chance of a MLB lockout. That's how serious that they want a salary cap. I think they just want the playing field to be even because they feel like they feel like some teams aren't aren't trying as hard. Some people's like, well, let's just have a salary clap minimum. But if you have a salary cap minimum, you also want you're probably gonna have to have a salary cap maximum as well. So there's a lot of talks going on about this salary cap. And the little stuff that I've been reading, I'll I'll look into a little bit more, but I feel like a salary cap is coming for a mobile, especially if the Dodgers keep this dominant pace.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, if the Dodgers continue to win, I it's kind of hard to argue with. It's gonna it's going to be hard to argue with. If the Dodgers could if they if they if they run off this one, then let's say they get another one extra two, then it is going to be then if if you're a player, you kind of gotta look at it like maybe we do, so we could break that team up so we can get over the hub. Yeah. But baseball is so difficult because they you have to draft well and you have to hit on those draft picks.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, and the crazy thing about them, like you draft a player today, you're not gonna get the fruits of that label to at least four or five years, probably. At minimum, probably two, three. But on average, probably like a good four or five years. So I don't I don't know, but you're right. Uh I I think the salary cap is coming. We'll see. Uh, I think the contract is up following next season, so they got next season to go through. And Dodgers win, especially if the Dodgers go 3P, I can definitely see that selling cap coming. But we'll see. Game one is tomorrow. The rematch between Drake and Kendrick. We will see how it plays out. Why?
SPEAKER_00:Why? Why? Why? Why is over. Why do they know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01:Why they I'll just tell you what they are calling it, but let's go ahead. We gotta talk about some college football. Louisville had the biggest upset of the week. Shout out to our Cardinals. They are now ranked 19 in the AP polls. They defeated Miami, and now we have a shot to make it to the college football playoffs. We got Boston College this week. We're like a 20-some-point favorite in whatever sports book you look at. I'm nervous because, you know, Jeff Brown usually after big wins. Usually, you know, fumbles over itself. How you feeling about Boston College?
SPEAKER_00:I'm feeling like if Miller Mouse plays like Miller Mouse, we're gonna struggle versus whoever it is. And uh that's I mean, I'm not I don't want to make it feel like I'm taking continuous shots at him, but it is when he don't turn the ball over, we win. When he turns it over We lose.
SPEAKER_01:I mean You can say that about any quarterback though.
SPEAKER_00:Sure. That's you right, Dion. But most of the but that makes it to my point. Successful quarterbacks don't turn the ball over. Right? You're you're you're on which you when you ready. So uh but nah besides the defense, man. That defense played good. If we we kind of ran out of steam as far as, you know, the two or three quarterbacks on the field at once, but that's what's getting us down the field versus Manhattan. So if we have more stuff like that in the playbook, maybe we should spread it out throughout the game to, you know, saying to be successful, be successful for the entire game. But I think I feel like boxing, we we should win this game versus Boston College.
SPEAKER_01:I agree. I agree. We should be comfortable, but I'm nervous. I'm nervous about every little game, though, because I'm a little fan. I feel like every time we get something nice, something bad happens. But looking at the college football slate, no, nothing really stands out. No, we got Ole Miss versus Oklahoma, you know. Kind of really don't care about that one.
SPEAKER_00:Uh it's about to lose that coach to Florida.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, yeah. Uh UCLA, who's you know, they hot right now. They go up against you know Indiana. That'd be funny if UCLA beats Indiana. I'm just saying. Don't think it would happen.
SPEAKER_00:And I get that. You know how happy I would be. You know how happy I would be to see them who just go down. Come on, UCLA. Come on, Skipper. Come on, Skipper.
SPEAKER_01:Hey, and that is the head coach. People don't know why y'all treating that OC like he's the head coach. He ain't the head coach. It's Tim Skipper. Just point that out again. But uh College Game Day, it is back at another SEC team, but not the SEC game that you would think. They are at Vanderbilt in Missouri. Missouri goes to Nashville. So College Game Day is in Nashville. Crazy thing about Vanderbilt is a real playoff contender team, so is Missouri. You uh uh uh Diego Pavia's been a lightning rod for the sport, especially for Vanderbilt. You think who you got? I right now it's basically a pick'em. If you look at the sports book, if if you know a little bit about sports sports betting, the home team usually gets three points. Vanderbilt is favored by three points. So, in other words, if it was on a neutral site, there'd be a pick'em basically saying that you can flip a coin.
SPEAKER_00:So the thing about I'm gonna say it every time Vanderbilt's their their issue is going to be even when they play home home games, it's gonna feel like a neutral site because the simple fact it's Nashville. Everybody's going, every college fan base is gonna want to travel to Nashville. Because Nashville is a great city to visit, you know what I mean? So if you go if you're gonna travel anywhere in the SCP.
SPEAKER_01:Missouri's not that far, too. They they're not that far. They they're kind of right there.
SPEAKER_00:Well, I was gonna say from Missouri might be a little farther. That's an SEC. But Betty Bell kind of is like, you know, somewhere towards the middle. But so I think I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go Missouri.
SPEAKER_01:Well, I'm I'm gonna go Vanderbilt, so we'll see. Um also before we switch gears to the professionals, uh, that job that we talked about might open up. It actually did open up. Florida's job is officially opened. So according to QN, uh, me as well, Florida, the best job on the market. Uh looking like the Auburn job might open up.
SPEAKER_00:Ain't no mic. Stop. We're not doing this, we not. We not, bro. Like, you know what I'm saying? That Auburn job is gonna come over. That Florida State job at some point is gonna come over. Like, we LSU, they play Texas AM this week. They're gonna lose that one, right? Yeah. Let him lose another game. LSU job coming over.
SPEAKER_01:You know?
SPEAKER_00:So he might actually lose another game and that LSU job might come over. He Brian Kelly don't fit LSU.
SPEAKER_01:Looks like their jobs might open up. Uh, you know, AD's out there, you know. Y'all looking for a coach, I mean, you know, you can hire me. I I just need like a$3 million buyout clause. Y'all, you know, y'all can keep me for a couple games of fire. Me, I just need the three little three million dollar buyout and I'll be good.
SPEAKER_00:You're gonna hire me. You know what I want? Give me a good offensive and defensive coordinator so I can keep the job a little longer. And make sure you make sure you pay them head coach money so they don't won't leave. Well me, make sure you pay them head coach money because if they won't leave, we're gonna have to do this all over again. Now I gotta find me a new offensive defense coordinator. No, man. That ain't what I wanna do.
SPEAKER_01:But let's uh but we can go ahead and slide to the professional ranks. Um, let's see, what's going on in the professional? Obviously, Thursday night football is going on. The Chargers going up against the Vikings. Um, as that game's going on, what game is there any game that fits your fancy? I know the Bears is going up against the Ravens. We probably would know Lamar. I'm interested in that one because to see if the Bears are somewhat legit. Because if the Bears are legit, they win this game without Lamar.
SPEAKER_00:I was gonna say, is my question, my biggest takeaway is is Lamar going to come back? And then if we had if I had to pick a game, it is you, it's y'all versus the Broncos. If it's a game that I wanted, that I'm going to be excited to watch.
SPEAKER_01:But other than that, the NFL slate this week kind of is like only other game that I will be interested in, that I'm interested in is the rematch. The Jets, not the Jets, the Giants versus the Eagles. The Giants won the first matchup. It's kind of crazy that they're playing so close together. So I'll be interested in that. Outside of that, you know, the Cowboys. We'll see how it plays out. But let's go ahead and go to the oh, Packers still is. I'm definitely interested in that one to see how Aaron Rodgers plays against his old team. But let's go ahead and go to the NFL pick pick'ems.
SPEAKER_00:It's kind of like Packers are different though. It is, it is, but that's the one. Like, if he he got bad blood with the Jets, he's got like anger issues with the Packers. You know what I mean? Like, he don't like the Jets. The Packers is just like, bro, y'all did some funny stuff. Y'all, I did some funny stuff.
SPEAKER_01:It's like a girl, y'all she didn't cheat on cheat on you, but she didn't treat you all the way, right?
SPEAKER_00:Damn, but you know, all right, we went our several ways. You know what I mean? The Jets, nah, she did you dirty. At least that's from his perspective. That's how that's how he's taking it, right? You know what I mean? All right, uh, first, Titans versus Colts.
SPEAKER_01:Man, the Colts look legit, so I'm gonna go with the Colts.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, this is another one of those uh division matchups that the second one, the second one's happening already. We only have Jeffang, we damn, we what, like seven weeks in, eight weeks in? So it ain't really that far fetched to think about. But as we all know, I'm gonna go with man, we, you know what I'm saying, new coach. Upset upset on the way. Upset upset alert, dog. You know what I mean? We need this. All right, next one. Um, your Cowboys versus the Chargers. I mean, versus the Broncos.
SPEAKER_01:Sorry. I am nervous about this one because the Broncos actually have a good defense. And that's where Y strength is, is the offense. I think the Cowboys, I'm riding with my Cowboys, but I'm nervous about it.
SPEAKER_00:Alright, cool. Uh, I'm going with the Broncos. Y'all can't. Come on, bro. Y'all will let me score.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:And I'll run 6'15 or 680, bro. I don't even, you know what I mean? Hell, it's probably not even a six, it's probably an 812. You know what I mean? Y'all let me score, bro. Y'all that bad. You know what I mean? Y'all defense is that bad. Dak might win MVP. If we go to the playoffs, that's that's the only chance. True. But Dak, the no, that's the problem, though. Dak is gonna have like Joe Burrow numbers, and Joe Burrow was in the conversation last year. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01:All he had to do is get him to the playoffs, but the defense wouldn't let him do it. Yeah, no, it ain't. All right, uh Packers versus Stillers. I got the Steelers. I like what the Steelers are doing. I'm excited for Sunday night football this week.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, this is it's it is this is a good one. Um I think I'm gonna go Steelers as well. Oh yeah, I'm gonna go Steelers. I'm gonna go Steelers. I thought about it. Thought about doing something different because Jordan Love.
SPEAKER_01:He'd be he'd be so up and down. Yeah, look like uh MVP next week. He'd look like why y'all get rid of Aaron Rodgers for this game.
SPEAKER_00:Nah, I ain't going that far. All right, bears versus Razmus. Um It was time, Dion. I ain't know what if it was time.
SPEAKER_01:Uh I'm I'm going with the Bears. You're right, it was time though.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, nah, that that ship had sailed, had sailed. You say you're going with the uh Bears.
SPEAKER_01:The Bears.
SPEAKER_00:The Bears. Here's the thing, man. Lamar practiced. So if Lamar's healthy, I want to go with the Ravens. But there's no guarantee yet. He practice, but ain't no guarantee he's gonna play. Nope. And Cooper Rush does not look right in that offense. Man, Cooper Rush didn't look right at y'all offense. Oh I'm gonna go to Birds, but you don't feel good about it, huh? Nah, because if Lamar. If Lamar's happy, he he should win that game. Without question. All right, Monday night. The commandos versus the Chiefs. This is actually a good Monday night game, too.
SPEAKER_01:Well, Jaden Daniels ain't playing, so Marcus Mariota is gonna get the start. That doesn't make it a good game for me. And the Chiefs looks like they didn't found themselves. I'm going with the Chiefs.
SPEAKER_00:I forgot he wasn't playing. Damn. I'm going to Chiefs too. Just because it ain't a good game. Damn, if I uh I forget. I forget he got hurt.

SPEAKER_00:Real quick, captain hate a moment uh of the pod. Um Sean Payton. You had no reason to attack Russell Westbrook. I mean Russell Wilson. You had no reason, just out of the blue. You did Russell Wilson bad when he was on your team. You did everything to get up from under that contract. You did him bad. You attacked him for no reason in the media. Then you tried, when Russell Wilson called you out on Twitter, called you classless. You was like, nah, man, I was talking about Jackson Dart. I wanted Jackson Dart to get the play. Man, cut the nonsense, bruh. He called you out. You ain't gotta be look. One thing to call a man out and talk bad about a man for no reason to go out the way. But then the live man did out of the fact, bro. That's some suckers. I don't like Sean Payton. I'm not happy. We'll catch y'all later.
