Why John Cena Tapping To Gunther Made Perfect Sense
We break down a restrained tribute that let new names shine, a polarizing DQ that clipped Oba Femi vs Cody Rhodes, and why Gunther was the only right choice to make John Cena tap. Then we jump to the Knicks’ NBA Cup win, the banner debate, and an NFL slate reshaped by the Chiefs’ fall and Philip Rivers’ return.
• Oba Femi vs Cody Rhodes cut short by early interference
• Sol Ruca’s rise and Bayley’s stalled split persona
• Sprint tag with AJ Styles and Dragon Lee, botch and all
• Gunther submits John Cena and why it fits the story
• No farewell speech and grading the retirement tour
• Knicks win the NBA Cup and the banner optics problem
• Should the Cup finals leave Las Vegas for college arenas
• Chiefs’ retool after Mahomes’ ACL and Kelce’s future
• Rivers at 44, Colts’ playoff math, Texans pressure
• Weekly NFL pick’ems and bold outcomes

So just go ahead and uh leave a comment and see what you're appreciated of, man. Because you know, it's Christmas season. You gotta be appreciated of something. You got something that somebody don't got. Remember that is never as bad as it seemed. But again, I'm your boy Dion. Thank you for joining us for another episode of From My Perspective. Y'all know I'm joined by the Indiana Pacing fan himself, Captain Hater. Q, how you doing?
SPEAKER_01:Man, what it do, what it is. You already know the bass is your boy, Mr. Bear. I got AK say your name up on the spot. Mine up with you to mind. What's going on, Dion?
SPEAKER_00:It's going good, man. Uh, you know, I went through like a whole box of tissue paper last Saturday with that John Cena. I will say, um, that Saturday night thing main event, John Cena, he said he didn't want it all about him. And it really didn't feel like it was all about him. I felt like it should have been more about him. It felt like an old regular show. Then you got to the last match. We'll talk about that in depth here in a little bit, but just felt like a regular show. He didn't he said he didn't want a two-hour tribute. They didn't give him a two-hour tribute, but it was still a great show. But let's talk about the matches before we talk about John Cena. Started out with the match I was most excited for, Over Femi versus Cody Rose. We don't need to talk too much about what happened in the match. Just know I was mad at the ending. I tweeted about how mad I was at the ending. The crowd was even clamoring for them to restart the match. For a second, I thought they was gonna restart the match. For a second, I thought they was. But they did. But Drew McIntyre came in right when it was starting to heat up, caused the disqualification. Nobody takes the pen. Everybody stays strong. I guess that's what they was going for. I get it, I understand, but damn, I wanted a winner. More importantly, I wanted Oba to win. But what was your thoughts? Oba Cody. Started great showing for Oba though. He had the org great entrance, looked good, showcase for the main roster. But damn, I just wanted to finish.
SPEAKER_01:I was gonna excited. You said we ain't got beer along. I feel like this is where we need to be at for a little minute because of because of that bullshit ass finish. No. That that to be phrased, that be a Spanish. Angered me so much. Because the simple fact is, I'm not even mad that Drew came out and interrupted the match. I'm mad that how soon he came out and interrupted the match. Let the match go a little bit longer. Like you said, both of you want both of them to come out strong. You don't want nobody look bad. You don't want nobody taking no pen, whatever the case may be. I rock with it, cool. But let let them get they let them get their chops off, let them get their moves off. Let's develop the match and let the casual fan see what Cody got, as well as the upcoming what Obi Obi got. I was gonna call him Obi Top. But let the casual fans see what Obi got because you know let's be real. We don't watch NXT. People don't watch NXT. And you got a lot of more casual fans this one on this episode because it was John Cena's last match. If you ain't watched wrestling in years, you watch this Saturday night's main event because you knew it was John Cena's last match. You had people, so why not show them what your current with the person you pushing, your current champion is capable of as well as your up-and-coming champion, what they're capable of doing, and then let Drew come out and interrupt the match. I get it. I'm not mad that Drew came out and interrupted. I'm just mad when Drew came out.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, it was it was annoying. I was so mad, like damn, because it was just starting to get good. But you gotta give a shout out, though. Overfame he did look good. That entrance, I'm sure he sold a lot of people on what his future is. Uh Cody Rose stayed strong, so give them credit. But we can move on to the next match places. So Ruka, you said it, you called it. So Ruka, she got the win, hit her with the snow snatcher. Uh Bailey ate the pen, but after the match they did, no. Gave it felt made it feel like an exhibition a congratulations. Put everybody's hands up, hit them with the Johnson salute, and got out the way. But great showcase for Soluka. Let's see how much this is going to affect the Bailey story. Because Bailey has been on the loser streak, but it's on the loser streak because she's been doing this dual personality story. We'll see how far that goes. But good showcase for Soluka.
SPEAKER_01:Like they're not doing enough with the Bailey uh split personalities. Because they it was coming in high, and they kind of took the, you know, pumped the brakes on it. And Bailey was she was killing it. You know what I mean? So I wish they was doing more of that. Like you said, I call it this. Because Bailey's the one Bailey can eat the pen. It's not, it's not gonna hurt her. Like I said, her and Sammy Zayn. They can eat pens and we still gonna we still gonna cheer for them. Because one, the respect that we have for them. And then Sammy doesn't like that lovable loser like the Chicago Cubs. And then everybody, everybody just think everybody just loves Bailey. So they can eat pens. It's nobody, nobody gonna look at them. They're not gonna lose credibility, credibility with a pen. But like I said, man, you know, and then they wanted to get that move off. That's what it was. They wanted to get that move off. But uh I thought, I guess because it was John Cena's last match, uh, Soluka, I can't think of Zena. Can't you say a woman's name? Zarya. Zarya, thank you. I because it's rumors that she was gonna turn heel at some point. Yep. I thought this was gonna be the opportunity for her to turn heel, but they didn't. But I I feel like that's coming at some point.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, that's gotta come. I don't know. I guess they just want to have happy, happy stuff, especially considering what happens at the end of the show. But I get it. Uh next match was a sprint of a match. It was AJ Styles and Jagger Lee defending their, well, they didn't defend their titles, but it was just a um a match, taxi match against the young OG and the young is in charge, Javon Evans and Leon Slater. Like I said, Leon Slate, he likes to get that Joe Hendry treatment. We'll talk about him in a second. He gets that Joe Hendry treatment. He basically a WWE wrestler at this point. He had a match for the NXT titler. So as soon as that NXT, uh as soon as that TNA contract is up, he's gonna have an NXT contractor waiting for him. And he's still like 21. So he found he found himself in a good position. But this was a sprint of a match. Uh it ended with uh a botch from AJ Styles again, reminded reminding us, like, man, he's next up on this retirement list, but ended with a botch. Uh, but uh damn, I'm forgetting who won the dang match.
SPEAKER_01:Oh uh well they won. Um Sammy. AJ Styles and AJ League.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, yeah. I don't know why in my head, I was forgetting who won the match. But Dragon League. Why are you saying AJ League? But uh yeah, they they won the match, but again, it was a sprint of a match, quick like six-minute match. Javon Evans and Leon Slater show showcasing their skills. AJ Styles is AJ Styles, Dragon League. He was able to keep up with the Javon Evans and Leon Slater speed, but again, sprint of a match, excellent match, led us into the uh main event.
SPEAKER_01:This was a good match, but I want to ask you something from this match. If you TNA, all right. Do you let him be on this match and then the challenge for the NXT championship? I get it. I get it that it's because basically what they're doing is laying out the red carpet for him so they can take him from you. And how did they deal with Joe Henry? I get that, but at some point, like I still run a business here too. I still gotta be able to sell and market my things too. Now, do I want to I understand maybe like one or the other, but both of them? Then you let Trick come and have y'all championship for this long. Is Leon about to win y'all? Because he's not.
SPEAKER_00:He's not all right, yeah, he's not gonna. So it's heavily like I don't know the exact numbers, but it is reported that the TNA's previews numbers have jumped up a little bit from the NXT help. NX when they did the NXT little help thing, it's it's helping them. And TNA has got a TV deal. I'm not 100% sure, but I heard they got a TV deal. So I mean, and honestly, it can also help you with acquiring talent for people that want, because let's let's be honest. Let's call the space spade. The ultimate goal. I know there's AEW out there, I know there's TNA out there, I know there's New Japan, I know there's all these other wrestling businesses, wrestling companies. But what? 80 to 90% of the wrestlers' dreams, maybe more, is to be at WWE, is to be at WrestleMania. That's why Blake Monroe went from TNA to NXT, because her dream is to be in WWE and wrestle at WrestleMania. So you can be like, hey, you do a good thing here at TNA, you know, slide you over to NXT a couple times, they like you. It's an easy transfer over to WWE. And that can maybe help you acquire younger talent, talented people, or maybe I might help you get somebody from AEW, because you know, you honestly you AEW just it's there's a roster staff. It's gonna take you a long time to get up to the main level over there at AEW. Might be a little bit of an easier transfer from TNA to WWE than it is from AEW to uh WWE, which I mean you can do both, but it's more I feel like it's more of a seamless transition. So I I mean I wouldn't mind it too much. It I'll be a little salty, but you gotta assume that someone will see Leon Slade and be like, oh, he's on TNA. Let me see what he's doing on TNA, and then hopefully you keep him.
SPEAKER_01:That's the thing. Yes, it'll be hopefully. You know what I mean? And I I like I said, I get it as a from a marketing standpoint, but at the same time, is I don't want my X division champion to keep coming over her and he's losing.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:That's the other thing. Like my I can't I I don't want to make my champion look weak, and that's an effort to build up your talent. So if he's gonna keep coming over here, he needs to win. Give him some wins.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, he did win him one number one contenders match last Tuesday, so maybe they heard you already.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, but he we all know what that outcome is gonna be.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, yep, a fall from grace from over, one, two, three.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, nah, I don't shoot. So, but yeah, that was just my thoughts about the situation as far as that. I do also want to say real quick, because I don't know if I'm gonna be able to get to this we talked about it last week, this should have been bigger, but they talked about this is the future of what is of what it's going to be. Uh, I would have liked if they had a maybe included some uh um, I was about to say worlds collide, but the uh uh the other wrestling promotion in Down and Mexico they just bought triple A. Triple A. I wish they could have maybe incorporated triple A in a match somewhere because y'all own this now, so y'all need to help promote and push this as well. But I wish I wish that would have been done somewhere in this.
SPEAKER_00:I agree, it would have been uh the watchman show. I'm sure it's seemed like it would they have a heart out, but they wasn't trying to be there all night, so that's probably why. But I don't know. I feel like they could have added at least a couple more, two more matches on the card, would have been nice. Didn't get it, but we did get us an impromptu segment with the Miz. Um, I'm gonna call them R-Truth. That's not Ron. That's uh R Truth. That's R Truth. And we we said it. Uh I'm gonna get uh we we we come to you guys when we wrong, but when we're right, we also we we give ourselves a pattern back. We said it like bro, he's 50 something. There's no way they can they're gonna work a character change. They're gonna go back to what was working, and they went went back to what was working and what kept him popular. So no, no issues here, but Miz came out, he was wearing the gear that he wore when he beat John Cena at WrestleMania. R Truth came out, was like, why are you hating? Uh I seen what you did to Nick Aldous Balls. That's what that's what he said. I'm just repeating what he said. Um, apparently Joe Hendry was uh was one of the one of the people that could was gonna replace for the last time it's now tournament, but Miz messed it up, and that was Miz said Joe Hendry's name. Joe Hendry showed up, gave him a couple moves, one, two, three from R-Truce. Nice little fun moment. Nothing too crazy. They you know gave Miz on the card. Obviously, he's got history with John Cena. Joe Hendry, he said he really wanted a match with John Cena. Obviously, he didn't get it, but being on his last time is now show in some way, shape, or form, cool. But in a quick little fun segment, you had any issues with it?
SPEAKER_01:They could have made it a match, but yeah, it was cool. It's cool for what it was. Like you said, they probably had they they probably didn't have a hard out, but they had a hard out. You know what I mean? So yeah.
SPEAKER_00:But uh finally, the main event where everybody came to see when all the casuals came back to see Gunther versus John Cena, and it's a solid match. We know Gunther. He's gonna put on a solid match, no questions. As John Cena, even though he's 48, he's still capable of putting on a solid match. But it ended with John Cena tapping out for the first time in 20 years. He's tapped out four times in his career, and that's back when he was the Doctor of Thungomits. He tapped out to Chris Jericho once, Kurt Angle twice, and a man that will never be said on uh WWE program once as well. But four times, hasn't tapped out since like 2004, and he finally tapped out. And only thing I can describe what the reaction to was, it was the closest thing it was to when Brock Plesner broke the streak. There was silence for a little bit, then there was anger. People was upset. Um, before I give it off to you, I will say I not necessarily didn't like how they got here, but Gunther was the right decision, especially considering what happened. Gunther was the right decision. I'm okay with it. I'm okay with John Cena tapping out because again, it's all about giving back. Everybody says when you're in the wrestling business, your last match should be giving back, giving what you put together the last 20-something years, giving back, giving that equity to them. And John Cena did that. And one thing, beating John Cena is one thing, but making John Cena tap out is a whole nother level. So Gunther should go on to like a massive run after this, just him. But not upset with the match. Um, I finally came to grips that I was okay with it being Gunther, and I'm okay with John Cena tapping out. Like I said, it gave it gave us that Brock Linnister broke the streak reaction from the crowd. But a lot of people wasn't happy. A lot of people wasn't happy. So, what was your thoughts?
SPEAKER_01:You know, to this very moment, I didn't take into account what happened and why it was Gunther until you said that. And it makes sense. For for it to if it was good, if John Cena was gonna tap out, it had to be the Gunther. Because nobody else does that. No, nobody else submission moves. Hell, uh, they did it the next um next night on Monday night when uh then the women's intercontinental champion made Abby Now tap out. Uh uh Maxine Dupree. Maxine Dupree. Yes, you made uh Abby Now tap out. Um but they don't really do submissions no more. So if he's going to tap out and it be poetic as it was, the person who never said who says never give up, and who hasn't tapped out in 20 some years to tap out, it has to be to the person who actually does it. I didn't think about that until you just said it, which is an excellent point by you.
SPEAKER_00:Um I don't understand why so many people was pissed. Either, I'm gonna say there was a lot of people was either pissed for one or two things. It was pissed like, okay, that's messing up his character. Uh again, like you said, he's never he never gives up. Now that just goes against everything he says. Some people said that they just thought John Cedar was gonna win, but probably the cash was they tuned in because they wanted to see John Cedar's last match and they wanted to see him win. If you know anything about WWE, probably 95% of the time, if you hear it's their last match, they're probably gonna lose. But it is it's I I I understand why people was upset. Uh it's just you gotta understand how the business is. You gotta get back, and that's what John Cena wanted to do. He wanted to get back. And what better way to do it than tapping down? It before you go, it wasn't even more so a tap out, it was more so the way John Cinners described it as a letting go. My body can't do this no more, I'm letting go. And uh it was more so a letting go instead of a tap out, but he he did tap.
SPEAKER_01:My thing is, it like you see the video of like Bailey was upset. It's us he and fucking sitting there watching it. You she's pissed, and it's everybody in the crowd's pissed, and like people's crying. And my thought was Did y'all really go in? Did y'all really start watching or go into this event thinking that he was gonna win?
SPEAKER_00:I thought it was a slim chance he won. Especially with if it was like a trick Williams or people wanted Randy Orton to be his last match or something like that, or if Ed has surprisingly showed up, yeah, John Cena probably won those.
SPEAKER_01:I don't I mean if y'all know, if y'all not just the character of who John Cena is, but the person, when do y'all just already know he was gonna take the L? I yeah.
SPEAKER_00:You should have known it when he said, I don't want it all about me. Let's put some young people on this show.
SPEAKER_01:You knew then he was gonna lose. If you didn't know then, you you must have been paying attention to John Cena his hook career. Or better yet, let me reverse that. You haven't been saying paying attention to John Cena this pasture when he does his interviews outside of WWE. He's he's basically been telling us, hey, I'm going out, I'm gonna put somebody over. I mean, he basically been telling us this. It's what he was doing. He lost them last three matches. Why? Because he put Dominic over twice. Yeah, well, no, he uh he lost he put Dominic, he won, then he this two of his last three matches matches he lost because of simple fact he put Dominic over and then he put Gunther over, and he also said he lost two. uh brock lasnar to continue the streak of brock of what brock lesnar who he is he said basically reestablish him he said he he got a couple he got he said he don't have much time left i want to make brock back to brock he felt like he might have lost something because he was gone for a couple years let's let's get him back to that level he's all about taking care of the business and taking care of what's going to be going on after him why did y'all think that he was gonna win and then if and then like to your second point was people upset because he's gonna tap out because it goes against his message but if you look at who John Cena is it's all about storytelling also listen to him in these past years with interviews he's also about storytelling he don't want to give up too much of interviews because he wants to protect the storylines the store the there's no better way to go out than saying hey man my body's done y'all got it that's basically what he did he said I'm done y'all got it but uh afterwards obviously they they circled a ring triple edge came out they gave him a little tribute video which is an emotional tribute video Johnson left his uh left his shoes left his wristbands uh somebody yelled out don't forget the jorts he kept the jorts on i i i kind of wanted him to take the jorts off not take or leave the jorts in some way but I thought that maybe he would go back to the back come back out leave the jorts but he didn't leave jorts but we didn't get no speech no speech from uh John Cena he just you know watched tribute video everybody stood up and applauded him and he walked away uh uh I did see reports that said we'll see John Cena on WWE programming he just ain't gonna be in the ring and when we see him he'll be in the soup so as as as I said for John Cena in ring um what was your what were your thoughts on no speech in we gotta ask you know it's been a year I saw Bleacher report they graded in the elf what's your grade on the whole retirement tour as a whole I saw that uh the no speech part let me get to that first I didn't really I didn't think John Cena would because simplify like Goldberg right Goldberg we're not gonna hear from again we're not we not gonna hear from Goldberg again he's gonna he's retired he's gonna be sitting on a hall of fame I don't know I don't know top of my head but even in there that'd be the only time we hear from him yeah he's not gonna hear from Goldberg but John Cena we're gonna hear from him again hell he did it he did a podcast interview with Cody just came out after the fact so we we knew we was gonna hear from John Cena again so him having us him having a retirement speech it wasn't necessary because we know he's going into the Hall of Fame next year. Like that's a given like you know it it's ain't it's like the NFL when you got to wait so X amount of years. John Cena going next year. Well there's a payment next year might as well oh matter of fact they could have did that as soon as he walked out when he got to the top of the ring should have said oh yeah next year the headline we already know what it is so now for him not giving the speech is I didn't I would I really wouldn't expect him to uh grading the retirement I wanna see I'm gonna give it a C minus and the only reason I'm giving it a C I'm giving it only reason it's getting a C minus because of what how John Cena carried it out because he made something out of nothing because let's be real after that whole rock situation that thing went downhill went downhill quick and he carried the heel when he was a heel because people wanted him to be a heel and then they wasn't happy with the way he was a heel the way he carried the heel situation he he he brings it up to a C for that well C minus but because of the whole rock situation we ain't seen rock we ain't seen rock rock or Travis Scott since nope and we see we see apparently WWE and Travis Scott they got beef near yeah which you know Travis Scott was actually out here swinging on Cody you know I mean it ain't what you supposed to do G.
SPEAKER_00:So yeah nah uh for that I'm gonna give it a C minus I somewhat agree I'll give it a C plus they I mean they they tried they tried to go big with the whole Turnham Hill thing hindsight 2020 maybe you shouldn't have did it but I'm not mad at them for trying something new this is it with John Cena he out people always wanted him to be a hill let's try it out for a couple months obviously didn't work out part of the reason I don't think it worked out is because again the rock travel scott and no he only had a limited amount of dates it's hard to do stuff with the limited amount of dates you can't really get into it but it's cool I give it a C plus could it been grip better absolutely yeah it wasn't like a dog it wasn't dog crap it was it was cool I I enjoyed it I enjoyed it because I knew I was hey this is it like you said it's only so many dates it's only so much you can do and you can pack you can only pack so much in in a short amount of time so yeah but yeah that is John Cena's Saturday event good show we enjoyed it uh next pay per view or PLE we'll talk about I believe will be the Royal Rumble which means hey WrestleMania is right around the corner I know I'm excited for it let's see let's see what let's see what happens but let's go ahead and move on to the NBA world and the so important NBA cup happened which once again I don't care about it but the players do because they get half a mil 500 I know a bunch of bench players was hyped that hype but the New York Knicks pulled it out against the San Antonio Spurs to become the 2026 2025 correction 2025 NBA cup champions so they joined the the Lakers who won the very first one the Bucs who won last year and the New York Knicks won it this year so and they also tell they're not gonna put a banner up unlike the Lakers and Knicks but but that tells me that the New York Knicks aren't winning the NBA finals because the first two didn't win NBA finals. The Lakers didn't win it or the Bucs didn't win it. So I don't know I'm just going with the trend here New York Knicks will not be winning the NBA finals that's that's just how I want to say they're not gonna put the banner up for the uh that's what the New York Knicks said would you I mean your paces was in the first one would you if they had one yeah you would want to put a banner up you won something you won some money well I'm not celebrating also if I'm the NBA you better put this banner up if we trying to make this we trying to make this a thing and y'all gonna act act out her acting like it man this ain't even a quarter and don't even worry about it.
SPEAKER_01:Giannis did that last year Giannis was like man y'all need to celebrate this ain't a championship as much as you know heck we give hell we give LeBron LeBron did it right he celebrated made it feel like something of course I think LeBron wanted to be first yeah I think that's why but neither that it's neither her nor there you know I mean he made it feel like something Giannis last year kind of poo pooed it and then if the Knicks is out already out here saying well now we're not gonna hang the banner it doesn't feel like nothing it was already not nothing to me but maybe some people cared about it I didn't it it is growing I always tell I always you know my my like of my well my lebron fan my partner Fred I always tell him I said well you got to give it 10 years you know he's a LeBron fan so he celebrated it the first year like it's this big thing I say it's still new you got to give it 10 years you got to give it a generation of people who's used to it and accustomed to it and we see it all the time we see it every year. So then it becomes it becomes something it's gonna take some time for it to become something this year to me felt this year felt more like something even when my paces played in but I was going to be happy with my paces wanted because of the fact my paces wanted something you feel me but this year felt more like something to me.
SPEAKER_00:Maybe that's because Vic was talking church to the thunder after that game but that's but yeah I mean I mean I it's gonna take it's gonna take me a while to even care about I cared about the OKC San Antonio game because I just I think those two best teams one of the two of the best teams well the best team and potentially the best player probably not quite yet but he's getting there I was excited about that one. But I don't know it's cool to see the New York Knicks win uh I mean it didn't it didn't make no difference if they put a banner up but you know but I'm just gonna go with this trend though I will say I don't think the Knicks is going to win the championship because the team that wins the NBA Cups doesn't win the championship. And I wonder when that is going to start to catch on because it's gonna be this is two years in a row Lakers didn't win it Bucks didn't win it.
SPEAKER_01:Let's see if the Knicks win it but but but the Lakers let's be real the year they won it did we really expect them to win it nah the last year the Bucks they had a better chance than the Lakers but we also didn't think the the Bucks was a finals contention team neither we thought they was a conference final contender but not a finals contender. This year because of the way the East is set up the the Knicks are actually a finals contender.
SPEAKER_00:Yep shout out to uh Mike Brown you know so I matter my homeboy Lt shout out to LT happy birthday to the boy he text today was like man you know we gonna we it's it's gonna get us to the finals I said this will get y'all there because it will give y'all confidence and boost y'all uh y'all bench going forward but I don't know it's not a guaranteed win because let's be real the West is still better but you look at the east who's gonna challenge them because me and you say this every time we talk NBA nobody trust Cleveland Orlando they started out hot they got cool then they kind of you know heating up again a little bit but if they're gonna be up and down all year we'll be making them Miami come on bro I don't trust Tyler Hero I trust Bale yeah Tyler Hero I don't know so the Knicks I think they got they they have a better chance than the previous two winners okay we'll see all right we'll see but uh again first three years of the uh NBA cup well there will be a fourth but the fourth one just looks like it's gonna be shaping up to be a little bit different first three years they culminated the semifinals and the finals in Las Vegas nice little trip Las Vegas is a destination spot we all know my mama knows my grandma who don't watch eBay knows that there's gonna be an NBA team in Las Vegas soon so Las Vegas been a destination spot but apparently the reports are that they're gonna start hosting the semifinals and finals in historical college basketball arenas on campus.
SPEAKER_01:Now it's kind of odd to think about because Vegas is a cool spot to go to these are grown men nice little trip to Vegas is nice then you're gonna tell them I gotta go to Derman Carolina to go to Cameron indoor I mean I don't know I mean might be cool but I've seen Cameron indoor as a small arena we we assuming we assuming that it's Cameron everybody knows Cameron because that's where Adam went to uh he went to college at but you know that ain't said yet it could it could be in uh the field house out in Kansas that's not that's not much better what's in Kansas I've been to no uh correct I've been to Kansas City I ain't been to Kansas but what's in Kansas besides Dorothy stuff it might be uh assembly hall up the road it might be in Raleigh uh where um no rale's north carolina state um it might be in uh Chappa Hill Chappa Hill the Dean though I don't it bring it to the yum center that'd be though it would be fun no it's maybe not but it would be dope probably not because it's not a it's a it's not historical not historical but no it's it's like top 10 top five basketball arenas in the world just saying just saying so be not but oh no but they're talking about like that the first one I heard was Cameron indoor where Duke plays at uh I can see them having it at the field house in Kansas City because everybody knows that's where basketball started not Kansas City in Kansas started Kansas I see them doing that assembly hall is pretty historical um uh I don't know any other really historical place that would be if you're an NBA player would you want to play at besides Cameron Door but let's be real the the only the story places is Cameron the Dean Dome uh that's right up the street where North Carolina plays uh assembly hall up in Bloomington the field house in Kansas and then where you see LA play at yeah that's it you get what I'm saying that's it but it's it's just me and I could be wrong the reason they doing this is because of something you said at the beginning everybody knows Vegas is about to get a team they don't want the a whole city playing in the NBA cup like they're getting home court advantage images I don't think they will in Vegas because the same thing with the Raiders these is everybody's fans everybody's fans be here same thing well with the Chargers with the Chargers too out in LA these are everybody's fans come here to see this but I think that's why they're looking to move it because of the simple fact of hey we don't want to we don't want the Vegas team to get a home court advantage I think that's why they move it to be honest and where else would you want to go now if I'm an NBA player you got to keep that game you better keep that game in Vegas where else why would we go anywhere else I don't care if you home court these ain't kids these grown men this it's not a good look and it's what's it December you want to send them to North Carolina imagine North Carolina ain't cold cold but it ain't vegas nah you gonna you're gonna send them up to Bloomington it's cold up here they still got snow up you hug me i don't think I don't think that's a good idea my my from my perspective I think they should keep it in Las Vegas now I do like the idea of playing an NBA game in those college like a regular season game kind of like San Antonio plays a game in Mexico every once in a while I like the idea of maybe the by um not the bycast the hornet's name maybe the hornets playing somebody at at the Dean Dome or Cameron indoor or whatever the case or the Pacers playing at Assembly Hall. Cool that stuff makes sense to me for one regular season game but to move these finals there nah bruh I don't think I don't think it's a good idea.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah I know the I know the players ain't rocking with it and I mean I don't think they'd be that I don't think they'd be excited about going again like it it might be historical it's historical for fans players well they they just trying to hoop they really they try and win that 500k and hoop and enjoy their time they can do it best in Las Vegas that hey I don't know I mean I can see I don't know where else that would move it to like my my like I said Cameron indoor was the first one I saw we talked about the fed offs we talked about assembly hall uh there's probably gonna be somebody in the comment section saying Ruperina oh I forgot about them I would have mentioned them my bad I would have mentioned them my fault rep arena which you know obviously even I don't like that 10 down there I mean it's somewhat of an historical uh I mean we we still do got freedom hall if y'all I mean that's historical if y'all want something historical we got freedom hall it's cool if y'all want it look what I just say about rep arena is that's the upper freedom hall ain't in no better shape you know I mean wrong freedom um surcuse uh is the carrier dome yeah it's not called that no more because somebody else got the ramid name it right but the courier dome yeah dome is so odd to me uh if you if you don't know the courier dome hosts Syracuse football team and Syracuse basketball team if that doesn't make sense to you what they do is they basically cut it in half they put some states at the they put some seating at the 50 and they basically cut the arena in half cut the arena in half and they put up put the basketball court basically like on one of the end zones that's basically what they do which kind of cool at times and if they have a big big game they could put the basketball court on the 50 use the whole thing that's rare as usually for like no tournament games or whatever but hey carry the carrier don't historical uh I don't think uh I don't know what what else is out there I mean that's that's the only those are the only ones like as far as colleges teams because like UConn UConn UConn is a historical team but their venue is not historical. Yeah I was thinking of Tennessee because I was a little play Tennessee got Pat Summer's name on it I mean is that maybe maybe it's true but yeah no so yeah it is it's the ones we name where UCLA play Kansas where they play where Kentucky plays Indiana North Carolina Duke and Syracuse because I don't need to think like Villanova it ain't no but yeah you didn't yeah they're not gonna go like historical reasons they're not gonna go to master square garden like you said that's what ABA team is already so I don't know I mean I'm interested to see what they do I wouldn't be surprised if they just go to just a random arena which every year hey let's go to let's have it let's have San Antonio host it this year let's have like they do it with the All-Star games whatever who wants to host it and I don't think that's a good idea because the momentum that they're gaining I think if you start bouncing it around like that I think you're gonna lose the momentum. So you think it needs to be in one spot or maybe one spot for a couple years drop it at another spot for a couple years?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah don't don't bounce it around every year. I they got a good thing in Vegas leave it in Vegas don't mess with it especially Vegas is going to get a team probably 2028 Vegas is going to have to take time to build their fan base anyway so you might as well just leave it there then figure it out kick that bucket down the road talk about moving the NBA cup.
SPEAKER_00:Yep yep I feel but uh let's go ahead and switch gears um quick though uh Fernando Mendoza he won the Heisman cool best quarterback on the best team nothing to really talk about we talk again we said it last week his Heisman year was trash if there was a year that they didn't give it out it should have been this year you look at these guys' numbers and you look at past Heisman winners and you're like ugh we used to watch like superheroes play this game what is this so for Nan Mendoza Heisman winner your thoughts the Texas tech linebacker the resident of Margaret is he should have been he should have won it.
SPEAKER_01:Should at least get at least let the right he definitely should have been the matter of fact he had more first place votes Then uh Ohio says quarterback.
SPEAKER_00:He shouldn't have even been there.
SPEAKER_01:But he didn't have enough votes to, you know, be in the top four. But no, he should have. The story was about, the story became poverty. Uh there wasn't the poverty. Yeah, for what his actions were after the fact. I he was wrong. I'm not saying he wasn't wrong. But I guess I'm giving him more grace because I'm looking at him as man, young knucklehead kid. He should know better, he should have did better. But he's a young knucklehead kid. And the people around him, they've they probably should have seen the story. Once they've seen the story, like, hey, take this down. It shouldn't have been up as long as it was. But at the same time, he was in potential to win the hazman.
SPEAKER_00:He lost it. That's good. Hey, just being and going to New York and they start to do this thing now, where I saw if you are a finalist, you get a one-on-one watch. Well, it's not one-on-one, but you get a watch that nobody else gets, but only the finalists gets. And with your name engraved, it's nice as hell. You get something. You left there with only some dense, you left there with something. At least you didn't come away and then you left it with something, you left there with a good experience. Left there with a 101 basically watch with your name engraved in it. That's basically made out of the same material as the Heisman Trophy. So hey, you left there with something. So hey. Yeah. But yeah, no, I give I give them some grace. But but we gotta talk about the NFL. We're winding down to the end of the season. These are the weeks that these players they're trying to get to hit them incentives. Is teams that's trying to make their last little playoff push? Or we got a couple teams that's already got their trips booked. They're trying to figure out who they're trying to take with them. They're trying to figure out are they gonna fly there on first class or they're gonna take a private jet. We know got these people trying to figure that stuff out. And then again, got the people that's trying to make this playoff push. But a team that's uh probably starting to plan out their trips is the Kansas City Chiefs. They fought to the end, but this wasn't their year. It just didn't look good. If they had insult to injury, Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL. So the team that has ran the AFC has finally been buried and it's not coming up until next season. It was a good run. What six straight AFC Championship game? Um, this is obviously the earliest Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs has been put out. The earliest before then was overtime in the AFC Championship game. He at least made it to end of regulation in the AFC Championship game, which is crazy. But uh, no, they're definitely gonna have to retool it. Uh I saw another thing. Eight players is taking up 80% of their salary cap. Obviously, some players are gonna happen. Probably Travis Kelski probably gonna retire. He's probably gonna ride off into the sunset. Now probably how he wanted to, but you can tell he ain't the same. But Dynasty's they take a break. Uh Brady took a break. Looks like Kennedy's Chiefs is gonna take a break. They're not gonna be the same until they get a couple draft picks in there, develop some people, maybe sign a free agent or two. But and the fact that Patrick Mahomes tour is ACL too. And next year is gonna be probably a rough start for him. But no, Kansas City ain't done. They buried it, it's dope.
SPEAKER_01:I asked somebody as a Kansas City fan. I asked them. I said, would you would you rather be in your position or my position as a Tennessee Titans fan? Knowing that I'm gonna have a potential to have the number one overall pick, or at least the top three, as it were. Y'all, you know what I'm saying? Y'all might trip up some wins, Mike, and you know, be like the 13th or the 14th pick. Which position would you rather be in? I would rather have the higher pick because it also gives me the potential to trade down so I can get more picks.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:I mean, y'all, y'all was bad, so hey, but they they've been great. Yeah, here's the thing, and that the person, you know, that sound jungle, you know, at least we got something to speak on. I said, Oh, that's cool. But we're talking about this year, and we're talking about going forward. What position? Because you need y'all need help. Yes, y'all got the quarterback, but y'all also need help.
SPEAKER_00:Because we are we show they need a running back desperately.
SPEAKER_01:We that Kansas City showed that Patrick Mahomes can't carry a team, he can only band-aid, put so many band-aids over the team. The team needs more, it needs more help. So I'm saying is would you rather have the higher draft pick or a mid-draft pick? That was my point. You know what I mean? And I think I would rather have a higher draft pick because of the potential you, you know what I'm saying, you have more pick of the letter because it's not less less players taken off the board, and also you like I said, you could trade down to get more valuable picks later on down the line. That being said, Kansas City is going to have to retool. They're gonna have to retool not just on not just on office, too. It's on defense as well. But I was asking, you know, the question is where do they store? Because everybody points to ram receiver.
SPEAKER_00:But I think it's running back, I think they okay receiver. I think offensive line, you know, yeah, offensive line and running back.
SPEAKER_01:And then, like I said, you still have to retool the defense as well. They have a they have some holes that they're going to have to cover up. And then, like you like you said, like Chris Jones makes a lot of money. Is Chris Jones gonna be back next year? You would think he would be back, but is he?
SPEAKER_00:He ain't he he's been he ain't been Chris Jones this season. He was not Chris Jones that we know. We saw some flashes, but we also saw that play against Jacksonville where he watched Trevor Lawrence dive into the end zone to win the game.
SPEAKER_01:And then, like you said, Travis Kelsey, he ain't coming back. I I could be wrong, but I think they surprised I think they tried to, I think they convinced him to come back this year. You know, Patrick gonna he I they said he should be healthy for the start of the season. He ain't gonna be right until no November.
SPEAKER_00:November. So he's gonna be right until 2027 if we're keeping it a buck.
SPEAKER_01:If we being honest, you get what I'm saying? So if you travel skelsey, are you coming back for that? No, I'm just gonna go ahead.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, come on, bro.
SPEAKER_01:I got the number one sports podcast. She I know who my girl is. Yeah, I'm cool. You know what I mean? I ain't gonna get married. I'm gonna get married. I ain't gotta do this, dog. Hey, I'm gonna holler at folks. You feel me?
SPEAKER_00:What he got?
SPEAKER_01:Three of them things, he got three of them things. Yeah, I'm cool, bro. You know what I'm saying? It's been real. You feel me? It's been real, but like you said, hopefully, hopefully Patrick Mahomes come back healthy and they retool too, because it I can't speak for you, but for me, it felt like this out this not this out season, this NFL season is a little lackluster because of the people that you expecting to be there are not there, and now you now we're looking at the Denver Broncos and the Jackson Jesus Jacksonville Jaguars and the NFL coast at one point. Like, y'all, y'all heard top of the top of conferences? Even Baltimore is not as good as we thought they was gonna be.
SPEAKER_00:So and like I I tweeted about it, we talked about it last week. Josh Allen, we looking at you. Your three biggest ops. Lamar Jackson, he still got a chance, but you know, that not looking good. Joe Burrow ain't gonna be in there. And your biggest op of them all, Patrick Mahomes, he ain't gonna be in the playoffs. This is it. I know your team, I know you gotta put the cape on for your team to do to win games, but this is it. You don't do it this year, I don't know when you're gonna be able to do it. So, hey James, do it. Uh speaking of quarterbacks, a grandfather played on uh Sunday and Philip Rebels. Y'all all wrong. Y'all ain't gotta keep leading with that. I mean, that's what it is. Uh 44. But uh obviously uh he came back. Also, I I see the play. I see the play, Philip. Go ahead, go ahead and restart that five-year insurance plan. I see the play. I ain't mad at it. Because you got a grandbaby that needs to get taken care of too. Because not the the insurance ain't just you, it's everybody in the family. All 12,000 of them kids you got. Hey, I see the play, Philip. But anyways, I watched the game. I had to go about illegal ways of watching the game, but I specifically wanted to watch this game because this is a 44-year-old man that ain't played in five years. How's he gonna look? And he looked like a quarterback that knew what he's supposed to do, but could kind of do it, but not really. The I mean, he already had a funky arm motion, but you can tell that arm strength ain't there. It ain't there. But again, he he's a he was an elite quarterback in his prime. Even though he didn't win a Super Bowl, he was a capable enough quarterback that probably could have won a Super Bowl. Let's be honest. He did what he could to get that team to win that game. The CLC Hawks is just a little bit better. But obviously, you can tell he ain't the same. He ain't got the same arm strength, but he is capable enough to win a game for you, even though he didn't do it. But it was interesting to see it. But you can just tell he you think like, dang, he knows what he's supposed to be doing. He has the elite mindset of what he wants to do. He really can't really do it. He can kind of do it, but not really. And I'm like, dang, they couldn't get nobody else out, they couldn't get nobody from the practice squad, from another practice squad. They had to go with this, but I can't lie, they almost won the game. But hey, he you can just tell he he was moving slow. He obviously he's hefier than he was. He he claimed he said he wasn't at his playing weight, and that arm just you can just that last throw that was intercepted, he threw it where he threw it to the spot it needed to be. He just didn't have the arm shape to get it third time. And then we're like that's the thing with him.
SPEAKER_01:You said it though. His high school runs the team, he runs the same offense, he knows his offense. He know what he he knows what he's supposed to do, but like you said, is he is his arm capable of capable of doing it? And I think so he's he's gonna I didn't think he was gonna start. I thought he was gonna be the emergency quarterback. I suppose he didn't think he was gonna start last week. I thought maybe this week, you know what I mean? After like a week of actually, you know, getting in game shape, yeah. I thought he was starting. I didn't think he was gonna start last week, but he did. And given, okay, if we're looking at it from the perspective of what a typical NFL quarterback play the way they play now, he had an okay game. But looking at it from a 44-year-old grandpa, as y'all like to keep pointing out, hey, he played a really good game. He did hurt. He he knew he he already knew I run the box. I ain't gonna be out here running around. Uh if it ain't there, let's go on here. You know what I'm saying? Let's throw it in the ground, let's throw it in the dirt. So I he looked from looking at it from the lens of he's a 44-year-old grandpa, he had a really good game.
SPEAKER_00:That hasn't played in five years either, so yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Do I think it's continuous?
SPEAKER_00:I don't know.
SPEAKER_01:He played 49 years. I know his body was sore uh Monday. I know it was sore. And he only look, think about it, he only got what three more weeks. He got he got three more weeks in this thing. So let's let's see. But I didn't think I didn't know I didn't know nothing about the health insurance. You know what I'm saying? Somebody told me that was like, yeah, he he gonna get health insurance for the uh, you know, because it was three stores. I said, oh yeah, I would go and try to just so I can have insurance and five more health insurance expenses. Yes. And I'm sure the high school ain't giving him the health insurance that the NFL's giving him. Nope. So like he said, 12,000 kids.
SPEAKER_00:I ain't mad at him. I ain't mad at him. But uh, he did finish the game 18 for 27, 120 yards. That was his under, I believe his over-under was like a like 160. Uh one TD, one pick. Um, another thing, you know, Jonathan Taylor, they didn't, they didn't cool, they didn't hit it, they didn't hit him with a fire hydr. A fire hydra, fire extinguisher. He cooled off. That man was on an historical pace. Now he's just having a good running back. He's still leading the league in Russian. I think he's like at 1400 and something. But instead of being like on Saquon type of season, he's just having a really good running back season. And sometimes really good running back season is gonna get you uh first in the Russian yards, but it ain't gonna get you remembered too much. But I hate that form, but like I said, they they put an 8-9 in the box. And especially when Dan Jones came back and they knew he wasn't the same, they put 8-9 in the box. They saw a 44-year-old grandpa lineup backer, 8-9 in the box. So, but he still got 87 yards. But Seahawks, they not, I mean, the Coats, they're not in the playoffs no more. They uh they're fighting to get back. They won those teams trying to fight to get into a playoff contention. So you think they can pull it out? Um, looking at their schedule, they again they play Monday night. Phillip Rivers is starting again. They play the 49ers, they play Jacksonville, and they play the Texans Texans. Lord knows. You got it out fast against the Seahawks. Seahawks is a team that got a lot of sacks, too. You want to get out extra fast against the Texans. But you think they can make it to the playoffs? Uh obviously, they are behind. They're in third place. They're by the Texas game will be big. The Texans got the last one of the last wild card spots. So they got to win one of the next two. Well, they really need to win both.
SPEAKER_01:They need to beat the Jag the cult the Jaguars in the Texans.
SPEAKER_00:I was saying they gotta win at least one of the next two, preferably the Jaguars, and then they gotta beat the the Texans. That's all I said. So they gotta they gotta at least finish two and one, depending on what the Texans do. Uh looking at the Texan schedule, they got the Raiders, might as well go ahead and chalk that up as a dub. What you said? They got the Chargers. So that's a losable game, but it's up with the depends on what happens.
SPEAKER_01:I'm gonna get a close one win out of the next three. I don't know which which one is gonna be, but I hope you want one win.
SPEAKER_00:Uh Philip Ribbs is gonna get you. He I think he can get a one. He's gonna get a one. I'm worried. Uh you was worried, you said when I texted you that he was trying to say, I hope he don't get hurt. He I think he'll be cool, but that Houston game, them pass rushes is different.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, they're gonna have let me tell you, they're gonna have to leave the running, leave the running back in the tight end and hope, you know, and hope somebody gets open. Yeah, you they need Jonathan Taylor to that game to go back to the Jonathan Taylor of the first eight games of the year.
SPEAKER_00:Because Lord knows they the pass rush they get.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, nah, for sure. Yeah, nah, but I'll give them one game.
SPEAKER_00:But I don't know which one though. But we'll see. Um again. I'll be watching again. I'll be watching on Monday because man, it's interesting to see it's in it because you can tell it. He can he got he got it up there mentally. He just ain't got it physically like he wanted. But let's go ahead and get to the NFL pick'ems. I ain't been doing so hot, but I don't know. Um you you winning right now, 41-39. I should be dominating, but you know, it you die I dominate the first season, the next two seasons. I don't know what's going on with me, man.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, no, I don't know what's going on with me because I take a hell every week picking one team. Speaking of uh speaking of teams, Packers versus Bears.
SPEAKER_00:Uh speaking of the Bears, rumors that they might be moving to jokingly Indiana. They just trying to find them a stadium spot, guys. Don't don't relax. They're gonna be the Chicago Bears. They just trying to find them a spot for their stadium. And if India, if I'm Indian, hell, come on, we got y'all spot right there, right there at the corner if y'all want it.
SPEAKER_01:But we're trying to get them tax dollars, yeah. That's how we care about. We'll we'll clear all this off for y'all. Y'all, what y'all want to do? Bring out the live entertainment and all the uh other entertainment down there. Phew, yeah, hell nah. Yeah, that's what they want.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, this is a rematch from uh literally like two weeks ago. The Bears won. I mean the Packers won, but the Packers are a man down and they're a big man down with no Michael Parsons and he's towards ACL, so I'm gonna go with the Bears.
SPEAKER_01:Hey. Um, I'm gonna go with the Packers. Alright. Um Chargers versus Cowboys.
SPEAKER_00:Uh depending on what happens the Saturday, I would like every star player to sit, but it's probably not gonna happen. But uh, I think this is a game we win because if we don't know, I probably this is a game we just win, even though we have like a 1% chance of making this to the playoffs now.
SPEAKER_01:I'm gonna go. I'm gonna put Justin Herbert's hands hurt. I'm gonna with the boys.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Alright, uh, Chiefs versus Titans. Game got a little more interesting. Wait, Pat Ainer. Pat Aiden there got a little more interesting.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, y'all going up against Garner Minshew. Um while we hear uh the Cam Ward said he wants to have say in who's the next head coach. Uh, I was watching uh Nightcap, Chad Ochocinko and uh Shannon Sharp. They basically said you don't let rookies or second-year players have that type of power. You think he should have some say? I mean, I feel like he should. Maybe he wants to be in the interviews and interview and interview the coaches as well. I don't know if he should do that, but I know maybe hey, well, how you feel about such and such? Maybe a little bit, not crazy.
SPEAKER_01:Maybe he shouldn't talk to the actual head coach, but he should talk to the GM after the interview and what type what he has or what he has planned for Cam Ward. I think that's the best he, I think that's the best he deserves.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, best gonna again. He's a rookie. You don't really they give us stuff to Peyton Manny's and Tom Brady's and Patrick Mahomes. You're not him. But I think the Chiefs, like I talked about earlier, they plan to they they probably in practice, they think about dang, am I gonna go to Cancun? Or am I gonna go to Maui? Or am I gonna go to St. They they think about where they about to go? They're not gonna be locked in. So Titans, they they've already had their chest book. They they locking back in because they got their trust booked, so I'm gonna go with the Titans.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. I'm going, well, everybody know who I'm going with, so it don't really, you know, it don't really matter for me to say it, but I will going with Tennessee because that's what I do. I uh Patriots versus Ravens.
SPEAKER_00:Uh the Patriots. Um Patriots beat up on bad teams. I don't think the Ravens is a good team. So Patriots.
SPEAKER_01:Nah, he's going with the Patriots. I am going to go. I'm going with Lamar. Because that's like going against Lamar is like going against Tennessee. This ain't something I want to do. You know what I mean? Alright, uh last 49ers versus the Colts.
SPEAKER_00:I think Phillip gets you one, and I think it's this one. Alright, so he going with the coats.
SPEAKER_01:Like a spell coats, right? I am going with the 49ers. I don't think it's the one. He gets you. Like he gets you one, but I don't think it's just the one.
SPEAKER_00:That'll do it for the NFL pickle and that is. Do it for another episode of From My Perspective. Again, we appreciate you guys for joining us for another episode. Please like, please subscribe. Uh, in the comment section, leave us a grade of your thoughts of John Tena's retirement tour. You give it an A, you give it an F like Bridget Report, you give it a C minus like Q, or you give it a C plus like me. Give me your grade in the comment section below. Again, we appreciate you. Uh, go ahead and leave a star rating too. I don't think I'll be mentioning that, but five stars would be nice. We like the stars. Uh, but again, appreciate you.
