Game 7 Hype And Stakes
SPEAKER_00Welcome, welcome, welcome to another episode of From My Perspective. I'm your boy Dion. Go ahead, like, go ahead, subscribe, go ahead and leave a comment. But I'm excited because of the two greatest words in professional sports, on all the sports that has series-based playoffs, is a game seven. And we have one in the Western Congress Fonals. It's been an absolute dog fight. I'm so excited. But Q, how you doing today?
SPEAKER_01Hey man, let's do what it is. You're right, not the bass. Um, I'm excited for game seven. Or can we have an honest conversation? What's up? Game one felt like a boxing match. It felt lick after lick after lick. All the other games, while some of them have been close, but they all end up, two of them was blowouts. So I'm curious to what we get game seven.
SPEAKER_00I'm hoping it's game like exactly like game one, overtime and all. But again, we have a game seven, the Western College Finals, San Antonio Spurs versus the OKC Thunder. We'll battle it out one more time this Saturday at eight to figure out who's going to face the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals.
J-Dub Out And Final Predictions
SPEAKER_00Uh, some context. I'll just let you guys know before uh I can let Q make his prediction. J-Dub, hamstring injury, he's been dealing with it all season. One hamstring early in the season, the other hamstring in the playoffs. He's out for game seven. And if you watched him in game six like I did, he didn't belong out there on the court, anyways. But outside of that, no big injuries. I'm sure there's some players that got some nicks and bruises and stuff. But outside of that, no injuries. So cute. With that being said, who you got in this game seven?
SPEAKER_02Okay. I knew this question was coming. And I sure don't have an answer. Here's my issue, right? OKC is a great team. And they have a great player.
SPEAKER_01He ain't playing great. San Antonio has a very good team with the alien and can do alien things. That's why I'm and I also know OKC's history history in game seven. Respectfully. Even with Tyrese was out. Game seven last year in the finals was close until the fourth four.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. TJ was holding it off. I'm like, that at first, I don't know why y'all getting it run through running offensive TJ, but he was holding it off for a little bit.
SPEAKER_01That game was close until late. So I'd seen what they do in game seven. They don't always bring it. Or the other team brings it as well, however you want to look at it. So and I'm gonna watch some more give me a minute. Because the emotions for San Antonio also makes me not want to pick them because of the fact Wimby got his head on straight. But you see it in Castro and Brazil. They be ready to go. And they gotta you gotta pull them back. Somebody gotta go grab them out the time. But so got a block on chat, and he like he in chat's face. And Wimby in the had to grab him like, yo, bro. Hey, he said, that's my beef, bro. Relax. That's my beef. That's my that's my situation. You need to go be beefing with Shane. Or go beef with uh, you know what I'm saying? Go beef for uh Caruso. Somebody needs to.
SPEAKER_00Shout out to Caruso, he's been saving OKC. Chet, he made $13 NBA.
SPEAKER_01I get absurd.
SPEAKER_00Sure as hell don't look like it in this series. He's getting punked.
SPEAKER_01Can we be honest about that? Chet is getting punked in this series. And for Chet, Chet look in high school, I know it's high school, right? But Chet look like he's a 20 and he's playing the versus a bunch of sevens. In college, he showed, he showed it too. He has glimpses in the NBA, but it's like when Victor's on that other side, he ain't got it.
SPEAKER_00He's like that every other game of the season. But when, like they always say, uh what is like uh uh a charger looks like a phantom until a phantom actually pulls up. That's a bomb. Right, you right when you write.
SPEAKER_01And he's just sitting there like the there's no answer for Victor. He's 7'4, the arm reaches crazier, like, and he can move without the he moves like a bar, he moves like Kevin Durant, right? There's only one option that's supposed to be able to stop him, and his name is Chad. The person that maybe not stop him, let me rephrase that. The person that's supposed to supposed to be able to slow him down is Chad. And Chad ain't doing that. Chet now had a couple defensive plays.
SPEAKER_00A couple, I'm trying to remember what game probably was game one or two. I saw Alex Caruso on him. With Chet on the floor as well.
SPEAKER_01Come on, man. They keep putting Chet on the side, but to Hartenstein's credit, because he's tall and big, he gives Wendy some problems. Because everybody says you put the body on Wendy. He struggles with it. Hartenstein is tall and he got the and he's a he's a thicker dude, so he can put the body on. I don't waffled enough. I still ain't gave you an answer because I still don't know. But that being said, I'm going. I'm gonna go OKC. I don't want OKC to win. Because some of the fact of what they did to my yeah, I should be rocking around here with an uh NBA championship t-shirt or hoodie or something. And I should, I I almost we was right there. I keep saying I like I was gonna go. We was right there. I wouldn't get on T. I'm saying we. We was right there, and OKC took that from us. So I should be going against him. But at the same time, I saw it with my own two eyes. And Wimby, he had a good game in game six, but it wasn't a post-game. His first couple shots was three-pointers. Wimby's need to Wimby needs to be in the post. And Hardenstein ain't letting him get in that post. So I'm gonna go with OKC. I want San Antonio to win because of the simple fact of hate that Captain Hater in me. But because you already know they're gonna get some foul calls at home. Even though, even though San Antonio shot more free throws than OKC this one. Yeah, they haven't been caught in the flops as much this series. Shea has some crazy ones in game five, but in game, like game six, he only shot three free throws. So it ain't been, it hasn't been crazy as far as the amount of foul calls that OKC normally gets. Game five boys. Game five, I kept looking at TV like, oh yeah. Oh yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01If you go call it on OKC, I mean you gonna call it on San Antonio, call it on OKC because they do the same time. I'm going with OKC, but I hope I'm wrong. I won't San Antonio Spurs to win because I also want to see Wimby on that stage. Because another person that should be able to guard Wimby, Scott. Yep. He ain't as, you know, the most athletic on the wing, but he's more athletic than most bees.
SPEAKER_00So and offensively, I mean Chet has really been playing well, but offensively, Wimby's gonna have to pay attention to that man at the three-point line. He can't, for the most part, Wimby's just playing safety in the paint.
SPEAKER_01That's the issue. When he plays safety, Caruso ends up wide open. Because they keep putting Wimby on Crusoe, that's not gonna work. Crusoe is gonna shoot him threes. Shea ain't scared of the moment. The other person on that OKC that's not scared of the moment is Caruso. Crusoe ain't scared of the moment. And he got he shot a three and uh they're gonna save the game six. He told everybody, like, hey, we gotta calm, we gotta, we gotta calm down. Yeah, we ain't scared of the moment.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, I'm okay. Uh I I I kind of feel the same way. Uh the things I like that's in the San Antonio's favor, though, they didn't play a lot of men this last game. They went only played like 28. They didn't need to. That game was over in the fourth quarter. I'm like, damn, I was mad. I wasn't feeling well. I'm watching this game, I'm spending a good game. Actually, I wasn't too, I would, I was kind of happy because I wasn't feeling that while I was watching this game. This game was over the fourth quarter. Like, man, I can go back to sleep. As soon as that, I was like, yeah, they ain't coming back. Let me go ahead and get some sleep. Um, I think San Antonio wants it more. I think they're the hunger bunch. But what gives me pause is um this is the first game seven that the San Antonio has experienced the Spurs have experienced, not just in the West County Finals, but any game seven. It's their first player run in general. Uh and it's in OKC. It's against the Definitely Champs who just played in probably what's a bigger game seven than the Game 7 in the NBA finals? Game seven of the World Series, Game 7 of the Stanley Cup. It's no bigger game, those are the big game sevens. They played in the biggest of the biggest. It's tough, it's tough for me to go against OKC in OKC, especially with them having game seven experience, even though I do think the Spurs won them more. But I I'm I'm gonna go with OKC. I think the Spurs could win. I think the Thunder's gonna win, though.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I like I said, I don't want the Spurs. But I would prefer the Spurs winning it. Like I said, it's Captain Hader moments in me. I don't like Oklahoma City. I don't like Shay. Uh I really I was a Czech fan on the low a little bit because he's able to do, he should be able to do everything. I don't understand why he's getting it, he's getting in these playoffs, and he can't do nothing. He can't do it's I don't know. I maybe he's scared. You wouldn't think he'd be scared of the moment because they got the championship last year, but maybe he's scared of
OKC Roster Questions After Injuries
SPEAKER_01the moment. But I do want to ask you something. JW is hurt. Some people will say leave him on a scouting report to make the other team have the game plan for him. Me and he we saw that. The other team saw that. There's no reason to do that. He wasn't working court. He wasn't working for it. You know what I'm saying? Shout out to my granddad, stole that line from him. He ain't working for it. You know what I'm saying? But this but he is getting paid a lot of money. I do want to ask you this. Uh AJ Mitchell getting paid like two million dollars, and he he hurt too. But he, you know, he does a lot of the same things, Jake Dubbs. They got Casey and Wallace, they got Topic that's gonna that's supposed to be like that when he was coming back from uh cancel. They got Isaiah John, they got draft picks this year.
SPEAKER_00Oh you think like I think that Jake Dubb's gonna be off his team next year. Oh yeah. Injuries and the fact that you um uh injuries and the fact that you uh he ain't been playing well, and there's some younger people playing just as well.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I just wanted to I just want to see what your thoughts was on that because the simple fact I don't think Jay Dub is gonna be on because Oklahoma City ain't never really paid the tax. And I was surprised when they gave all three of them max dollars last summer. And I get it, they just won a championship. And Jay Dub bowled in the finals. He's been hurt all year. And that contract kicks in next year. Oh no, somebody somebody gotta get gone. Somebody can make it make a little chip.
SPEAKER_00Probably gonna be Jay Dub. But speaking of somebody gotta get gone, that's gotten gone, and they they didn't put up any resistance after game one.
Cavs Offseason Fixes And LeBron Idea
SPEAKER_00Cleveland Calyers, they was eliminated. I'm gonna give you the four. I have an idea, it's a simple idea. I'm gonna give you four, thank you for a little bit. Obviously, James Hart is one of the persons out there that you gotta talk and talk about what can the Cavs do to make it to that next step?
SPEAKER_01Somebody gotta go. I'm just gonna be honest. I don't know if it's James, I don't know if it's Evan Mobley, I don't know if it's Jared Allen. All I know is one of them three, somebody's got to go. But the problem is, Donovan Mitchell's also up for an extension. What if Donovan Mitchell wants to be one of the ones to go? James Harden has a playoffs. Accordingly, he only reason got traded, agreed to get traded to the Cavs was because of the fact he already knew he was gonna, it was already a wink, wink, nudge, nudge type of deal where he was gonna get an extension. You saw in this playoff run, like we talked about last week with Jalen Duran and um Thompson, Asar, Asar Thompson, this playoff run might have messed your money up because of the fact you didn't play up to expectations. You didn't play up to the dollar amount that you are expecting. We don't pay you for the regular season, we pay you for the playoffs. I know James Harden eats up what uh like a pitcher, he eats up innings in the regular season. That's what James Horton does in the regular season, but in the playoffs, he don't do nothing. So James Harden, Evan Mobley, Jared Allen. Somebody's gotta go. Who that somebody is, which one of those three, I do not know. But one of them's gotta go, and you gotta bring somebody, you gotta bring somebody else in. You need you got two tall dudes. Yo, do you need both of them? You need a win. So do you trade one of them for a win? Or somebody just might want to come home. They played in the LA for a while.
SPEAKER_00Bingo. That's my that's my solution. That's all y'all got. That's all the Cavs can do. He's for he's 41. 40, what? 41. Hey, what you say, LeBron is still top 20, top 25 player in the NBA?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00And the 41 player that's top 20, top 25 player in the NBA still. That is still very capable of doing very good things. He can probably give you anywhere between 21 and 25, depending on the night. And not only that, not only will he help your basketball team out, it's his probably be his last year, and it'll damn sure help your pockets out. That's all I got for y'all. That's all I got for y'all, hopefully.
SPEAKER_01Okay, now you're saying that in the sense of like a trade or him signing for the low as a free agent. It'll get everything the same.
SPEAKER_00It'll probably what I saw, it'd be a signing trade, and uh the Lakers get uh Jared Allen, Cas get LeBron.
SPEAKER_01I like that, but they still gonna need a win. They still need somebody to play that three because LeBron's OG, he can play four now. He don't play, he don't play the three. He played four. So they still need an athletic wing that's gonna play defense because LeBron's 40. James Horton's 37, 38, 36, 18.
SPEAKER_00He didn't play defense at 28.
SPEAKER_01Brian didn't play defense at 18. You feel what I'm saying? And then Donald Mitchell, he tries hardest. He doesn't amount to much. He tried as hardest, but don't so you think Evan Mobile don't file out every game because everybody can get to the basket. He won defensive player of the year last year. He'll go he'll good defender. I say a great defender, he protects the basket. But yeah, you're gonna need another wing out there or something. Go get him. So they maybe like a Herb Jones. I know he did he got a contract with the fella because you have to figure that out.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, uh, I like the idea. I like the idea. I can say that's that's a bigger uh best move that they can make.
SPEAKER_00And it's it's a simple move.
SPEAKER_01Jerry Allen Allen also works with Luca.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Hey, give Luca a live threat. Cause Luke loves him. That's a little live threat to download to paint. And he plays he plays better defense than Jack. Yeah, good point. So yeah, Cavs, y'all, y'all could have put up a little effort. That would have been nice. We would like some more basketball. Would have been nice, but it's okay.
SPEAKER_01Can we at least get a game five? Could we at least get five? I couldn't, but see, that's the thing. They quit. They quit game three. They tried harder over the two games on a road. Once they got home and it was like halfway midway through that fourth, oh, it was one, two, three, can't come. And it was it was still game three. They still had a fourth game to play. And like I said, Donald Mitchell tries. He came out at the beginning of game four, and he was trying. But yeah, it was over. I I can't bring everybody over the hump with me. No nobody else wants around. Come on.
unknownYou're right.
New Draft Lottery Odds And Tanking
SPEAKER_00Uh so uh some big some big breaking news dropped in the NBA as well. Uh the draft lottery, they they basically changed their eyes. And basically, what it is is the first three uh the worst three, the bottom three teams, have 5.4 chance. Uh the middle teams from 4 to 10 all have 8.1 chance. And the 10 basically through the last two uh the last two play-in teams. Well, 10 through uh 14 get 5.4, and the last two play-in teams get 2.7. So basically they were awarding 4 through 10. And my first mind came to the end of the Incredibles, where the family was telling Dash, go fast, but not too fast. Then he started going fast. They said you're going too fast, bring it back, get us to like third. That's how I feel. That's how this thing looks. That's how them GM is about to be. But it's nasty. I guess it's gonna work to stop the tanking, because that's what they want to do. They want to stop the tanking. I guess it's gonna stop the tanking. Kinda. Uh-uh. How you feel about it? I feel like they had to do something, so they did something.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if this is the right, I don't know if this something is the right way, but you know, you can't have multiple first round number one overall picks. You can't be in the top five multiple times or whatever the case might be. So they balanced out the they and then they balance out the odds for where if you try, but you just can't get over the hump, you got a chance to win the top overall pick.
SPEAKER_02Like I said, they had to do something because it was ugly the past couple years.
SPEAKER_00Like I said, 14-15 man on the roster was getting meaningful clock.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the two-way players was getting more times than some of the stars. Um he played a couple games. Hell, did Anthony Davis went to Washington? Did he even play? If he did, it was one. I don't even remember him playing.
SPEAKER_00Trey Young didn't get the game.
SPEAKER_01He played five minutes.
SPEAKER_00He played five, I don't even remember who playing.
SPEAKER_01He played five, and I think one of them games he only played, a couple of them games he only played like 20 minutes. So yeah, he played five, but they wasn't full of five. It four, it was really three. Uh so the tank, the tank would look bad. And then hell, my paces, we tanked. You know what I'm saying? He got late in the season. Pascal played up until all-star break if they wanted to make sure he was all-star. And then after all-star break, hey, because I don't know. You played yesterday, didn't you?
SPEAKER_00No, I didn't take that break.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know the next thing is the two days, but you your foot hurt. Yeah, your foot hurt. Then take the next two off, and you can come. Yeah, you know what? We'll we'll be revisiting next week. You know what I'm saying? What's he got the all-star? What's he got the all-star break? And then they brought Obi back, but then he only played like 10 minutes a game. So uh uh Obi Topin. So the tanking was so bad so they they had to do something. And then the thing that hurt the NBA is which is the former players and then the people who cover the game, they critique it so bad that it becomes it becomes a thing. They critique the game so bad and all the wrong that's in the NBA. They critique it so bad that the noise is so loud that your average friends ain't got no choice but to pay attention to. So then it becomes so loud.
SPEAKER_00Like I said, they had to do something. I'm interested to see it. You also said that the thing about broadcasting the actual picking of the balls live, I meant to. And see how that goes. If they do it. I don't know how you do that.
SPEAKER_01Because the only way that it makes sense is you pick one first. And that other who I have the number one overall pick. But after you see who got like the top two or three picks, you're gonna cut the you're gonna cut it off.
SPEAKER_00Unless you unless you just really wondering where your team's gonna pick. Everybody else, everybody else's teams that's in the finals, or people that's not fans of really anybody in the NBA, they're gonna see who got number one pick, number two pick. Alright, cool. They're gonna think then look at college and see who's gonna be the one or two pick. Alright, that's where he's going.
SPEAKER_01I don't really think. I don't know how you do it, but they probably used to be live back, you know, back in the day. So I'm interested. I'm interested to see how they do the watering game, the reven the revealing of it.
SPEAKER_00All right, well, we gotta talk about something other than NBA.
UFL Kings Win And You’re In Preview
SPEAKER_00We have a, you know, we talk about a game seven, but we also have a win and you're in to the playoffs game coming up this weekend. It's the Louisville Kings with the UFL. They play what is the um um uh I just had the name. I think it's Baltimore. Uh they played the I know Aviators, that's what I thought that Columbus Aviators this Sunday at 6 p.m. in Columbus, which is Ohio. It's not hopping a skip, not too far, but next little drive. And it's a win in the end. I feel like the Kings is like one of the hottest teams, especially defensively, in the UFL. They've getting turnovers after turnovers, it seems like, these are the last couple games. So I don't think anybody wants to play us right now.
SPEAKER_01I don't think so. And also the other thing is the Kings that got high ever since they did a quarterback change. And they win on a row. Majority of their wins, all of their wins except for one, has been on the road. So that leads to the Kings winning and they making the playoffs in their inaugural season. But here's my problem I'm a Liver fan. As a Liver Corner fan, I don't know if this is gonna transfer over, but when it's simple and how you you do what you normally do, and you good, you of all typically don't do that. And then we end up losing. And I'm concerned about this, I'm concerned about it in this in that regard. Uh I'm going, I'm gonna go with the Kings because I'm gonna have faith in the team. But I hope the defense, I hope the defense brought defense breaks it. Because like you said, the defense has been playing well. They done broke a bunch of records. A bunch of UFL records in their first season. Hell, one of them is getting worked out by, I don't want to say the uh the Cleveland Browns. One of the cornerbacks is getting worked out by the Cleveland Browns to join the roster. They get they got healthy.
SPEAKER_00Kicker broke a record, most field goals in UFL in the UFL season.
SPEAKER_01He's gonna have a job.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's gonna have an NFL job. He's at least gonna be in the training camp for sure. Sure. But uh, I mean, that's other things if we don't handle business, which I hope we do, but uh you'll you'll need the Orlando Storm to win, and or you'll need the Houston Gamblers to win if we don't handle business, but we don't we don't think about that. We handle our business long, I hope.
SPEAKER_01The good fact about it is all of those games is before Sunday. Yeah. So we'll know into the matchup, like, hey, you have to win or you bet your way in. Yes, right, because the teams in front of you lost. So we're gonna see. Fingers crossed, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00Fingers crossed. So
Favorite Game 7 Memories And Wrap
SPEAKER_00I'm excited for it. Sunday gave me something to do, watch on Sunday, but that'll do a quick episode of From My Perspective. We have a game seven. I'm excited. Like, subscribe, leave a comment. Uh leave a comment and let us know your favorite game seven. It could be any sport, baseball, hockey, or basketball. Give us your favorite game seven memory. There's been a lot of them. Lots of them. I know Q has some bad memories of Game 7 at the moment, but hopefully the Pacers can uh rectify that next season. I'm your boy Dion, Q. Go ahead and take us home.
SPEAKER_01Stanley Cup, we ain't forgotten about y'all. We got y'all. I mean, the NHL, we got y'all next week. We'll be coming. And I mean, it's a big soccer tournament coming up, too. The World Cup. Man, we might we might have to figure that out. Because I don't need to be watching soccer like yeah. We might have to figure that one out. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? But support Mr. Bell, we're gonna catch y'all on the next one.
